HENRY BOWLES REVIEWS JERSEY GIRL

I was so excited when I woke up today, because after years of waiting, I was finally getting the chance to catch Kevin Smith's newest writing/directing effort, Jersey Girl, on the big screen. I realized that I had a big day ahead of me, and a lot to do before I was going to go and see the movie. So I figured I would share all of that with you.

First thing, I got out of bed, and my feet were really cold. It was cold here. So I looked for my slippers and put them on. The dog was barking at the door so I decided that I'd better let him out into the back yard. While he did his business, I fixed myself a bowl of Apple Jacks and a glass of milk.

So then, I go to make my morning coffee, and I look in the cabinet, and I realize that I am fresh out. What a major bummer. I must have my morning coffee, else how will I be able to stay awake and energetic as I prepare for my big trip to the theater this evening? So, I decided to take a drive to the Dunkin' Donuts.

I turned the key in the ignition and started my car. It started up without a problem. The Dunkin Donuts is thankfully close to home, and my favorite type of coffee. I couldn't resist ordering a chocolate donut as well as I hit the drive thru, the perfect complement to a good hot cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee with cream and sugar.

Alright, breakfast being taken care of, it was time to go home and shower up for the busy day ahead. I used dove soap, and Suave hair shampoo, and then brushed my teeth with some Colgate whitening with baking soda. It took me 2 minutes and 53 seconds to brush my teeth.

Next, it was time to choose my outfit for the day. I decided to go with a pair of blue jeans, and a white t-shirt, with a light sweater on top. There was a bit of a chill in the air today that I noticed when I walked to the car to get my donuts earlier in the morning. I went with a pair of brown socks and brown tennis shoes.

First on my agenda today, I had to take my suit to the cleaners. I wore it to the recent premiere that I attended for Hidalgo, and Viggo Mortensen spilled popcorn all over it. So I wanted to get all that buttery stuff cleaned off. After that, it was off to the barber for a nice haircut and a shave. I wanted to make sure I looked gooooood when I was waiting in line for Jersey Girl tonight!

There was a long wait at the barber, three guys in front of me, so that killed most of the morning. I was hungry again so I decided to grab some grub. For lunch, I had a bagel with cream cheese and a diet vanilla coke at the local bagel shop.

I had an afternoon set up at the home theater here in geek central with my pals to watch some View Askew stuff in preparation for the big event. A few of them hadn't even seen EVENING WITH yet and I insisted that they watch every single story to get to know Kevin's work better.

After that marathon, we decided that we'd better get our butts outside and get a little fresh air so we couldn't say we spent the ENTIRE day inside. So we went outside and played a little frisbee for a while. I caught the frisee 187 times. I dropped it 58 times.

For dinner, we ordered a bunch of Pizza Hut pizzas, I had pepperoni. T.Durden had peppers and onions, Geekman had plain, and RomeroFan just ate a bunch of breadsticks.

Finally, after a busy day, it was time to hit the local theater. The theater is a large theater downtown with the steep stadium seating, my favorite kind, with just 6 screens but all very large with spacious auditoriums. Jersey Girl is playing on 2 screens which bodes will for the box office. I decided on the 7:30 showing in order to allow sufficient time to have dinner but also so I wouldn't be out so late that it would be past bedtime.

We found a parking spot in the 3rd row from the theater, it was a tight fit for the Geekmobile but we managed to make it work. Weekends are always busy nights at our local cineplex.

There was quite a line that had formed at my theater, probably about 55 people in front of me at the ticket window, though I did not recognize any of my fellow geeks that I was hoping to catch at the show. I took a small survey from those that were waiting and found that 43 of the people in line were going to see Jersey Girl. I was very happy to hear that that the majority of the wait was for what was sure the be the best flick in the place.

Here are the trailers that I saw before the movie started: Van Helsing (looks cheesy), The Chronicles of Riddick (hey, didn't that USED to be a Vin Diesel movie?), that Dodge Ball Ben Stiller flick (looks funny enough), and some other ones that I missed since I was busy waiting in the popcorn line.

And then, after a long wait, the theater lights dimmed to the darkest level, and it was time for the movie of the night!

Jersey Girl was GREAT! I loved it!
