Clerks: The Animated Series To Return To ABC!

BIGGEST NEWS...EVER! Here's a press release that just came across the AIAN desks:

ABC has announced its 2004 Fall lineup, and in the surprise of the year, the Clerks animated series, poorly mistreated and buried by the network a few years ago, has been given a prime time slot in their new season. The show is currently slated for the highly coveted Sunday night timeslot at 8:30 PM, in hopes that viewers will make the move from FOX's The Simpsons over to ABC to round out an hour of animation in prime time.

"We are proud to have Kevin Smith and the View Askew family back in the fold again," said a network spokesperson.

"We are ready to give the show the chance it's always deserved, and scheduled it how it will work best."

ABC credits the return of the series to a combination of fan appeal letters, strong DVD sales, and the increasing popularity of the View Askew brand name. The ABC animated series "Clerks" follows the misadventures of 2 register jockeys (one in a convenience store, one a video store) and the events that happen around them. Original film stars Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson, and Jason Mewes are all set to return to voice their characters.

Confirmed guest voices for the new season include Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielbeg, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon.

"And furthermore", said the ABC spokesperson, "April fool."
