...When Miramax and it's parent company, Disney, finally grow a pair, Hayek will be seen in "dogma" the grotesquely controversial, in-the-can religious comedy from Kevin Smith ("Chasing Amy") that has the Catholic community so up in arms. Hayek plays Serendipity, a fame-and-fortune seeking angel who joins forces with a human descendant of Christ. Together-and with several other whacked-out heretical characters-they try to prevent two rogue angels, played by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, from reentering heaven and unraveling the fabric of the universe.

Along the way, the Catholic-raised Hayek encounters Rufus, the crack-addicted 13th apostle, and a satanic demon known as the Shit Monster, which savvy Bible scholars will recognize from his brief appearnace in the New Testament. "It wasn't a personal choice for life," Hayek says of her work in the film. "It was an artistic choice. Do I believe in everything the script says? No. Did I believe I should kill somebody on the set of 'Desperado' when I shot a man? No. And I don't' see what the difference is between the two."
