  • There's some spoilers relating to the stuff that was filmed today that will definitely ruin a few jokes and the nature of these scenes, but call them minor as they don't seem majorly plot related. Swipe below at your own risk:

Oh wait, but there's more! Here's some exclusive shots from the set today. Click the thumbs above for a better look. In order, from left to right, they are:

  • Yup, it's Monday, so you know what that means! Three more never before seen pictures from the set of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, from the camera of Scott Mosier. Again, this stuff is normally not done during shooting, but behind the scenes or between takes to catch folks in their natural, off camera states. Scott captures some very nice moments, too.

  • This week's new Entertainment Weekly (dated March 30th) features a blurb about Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back, in which Kevin not only comments on Ben & Matt's involvement in the film, which most you should know already, but also alludes to the name of Mark Hamill's character in the film! Here's the article. Speculate away from this one, folks. Our lips are sealed!
      'Strike' Zone

Kevin Smith can keep a secret. Sort of. Pressed to confirm that Matt Damon will reprise his breakthrough role as Boston braniac Will Hunting in Smith's upcoming "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," the geek auteur of "Clerks" is coy. "If Matty ever deigned to be in another of our lousy pictures," hints Smith (who directed Damon in "Dogma"), "I'm sure he would've had a great time revisiting one of his most memorable performances - particularly if Ben (Affleck) were involved as well, and they were both speaking in weird, South Boston accents. But what are the chances of that?" Very good, since Affleck is confirmed to be in the August release. But as ofr a rumored cameo by a onetime Jedi Knight, "Star Wars" fan Smith is back to mind games. "If Mark Hamill was indeed in this picture, he would be playing a character called C--k - Knocker." Guess it won't be a family film.

Wow, sounds like EW sure painted Kev into a corner there! Seperate photos of Smith, Hamill, Affleck & Damon also appear with the blurb. Some more excellent publicity for the film, indeed.

  • For those of you that may have forgot (it's been a while!), we visited the set of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back late last month. Part 1 focused on our trip out there and our first day on the set. This second half covers Tuesday and Wednesday, and includes our experiences on the set, watching the completed film (so far), checking out the production design offices, and lots, lots more. Don't miss it! Surf over here to read our On Location report right now! If you missed part one, it's online as well, of course. And note: This report is totally spoiler-free, but was written originally with spoilers intact. When the film approaches release, we'll be posting the spoiler-filled version for you to check out as well. Enjoy!

  • Yep, you read it right. Right here, courtesy of Ratface and the production design department, we've got the "winners" of that "mail-in-a-photo-and-be-in-the-flick" thing. These two bulletin boards will appear in a police station and in Marshall Willenholly's office in the film. They were assembled completely from the photos that all of you sent in, so click the thumbnails above and scour them for you and your friends! Are you ON one of these boards? E-mail Chris your name so he can add you to our list over at Scooping The Monkey. And if you found yourself, congratulations, and welcome to the long list of those appearing in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Thanks again to Rat for scanning in the photos and supplying them to us, as we know many of you have been eagerly anticipating seeing this stuff. Look for more stuff from the production department soon!

  • The first piece of J&SBSB merchandise has been announced! Previews says, "With the new Kevin Smith flick on the horizon, it’s only natural that we get a jump on the action with the new Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back T-shirt. Features the J&SBSB logo screenprinted in yellow on a black 100% cotton shirt. The movie is scheduled for an August 10th release. Be the first in line with this great new shirt!!" You can check out the shirt and get more information at the Diamond Distributors site HERE.

  • We haven't been mentioning these things lately, but WizardWorld's small bi-weekly reports have been going on at the Wizard World site, as promised. Most of them have been standard stuff, that you've seen here or elsewhere, but this week's makes an interesting mention of a Marvel character that will appear in a cameo...Maybe a few more clues to the mystery? You can read the full report HERE.

    March 20, 2001

  • You can catch Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back star Ali Larter on the cover of the new issue of Maxim, and in an article starting on page 100. It does mention the August release of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, as well.

    March 19, 2001

  • It's early Tuesday morning, but we DO have three new pics from the camera of Scott Mosier for ya. These were again taken at or around the set of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back in California. Scott tries to catch some good moments, usually between takes or during some downtime, so you can get a look at the actors and actresses in their off-camera state. These again are exclusive, and we thank Scott & Kevin for giving us the chance to share them with you. We'll see you next Monday with a few more!

  • The Internet Movie Database has added a tagline and a shot plot outline for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. It could be considered a minor spoiler regarding the plot, so if you don't want to know A THING about it, don't swipe below. Otherwise, have at it. Chances are the trailer will reveal this much information, anyway.
Tagline: Someone is making their life story into a movie, and they haven't been paid. So they're on their way to Hollywood to get even.

Plot Outline: The comic 'Bluntman and Chronic' is based on real-life stoners Jay and Silent Bob, so when they get no profit from a big-screen adaptation they set out to wreck the movie.

  • Kevin's not the only one checking in at the board with a few words from the set...Jason Lee has also been popping by quite frequently to answer questions and talk about what he's been up to. In this little clip, he reveals some interesting information about Chris Rock's ad-libbing on the set (could it be?) and looks back on Banky and forward to Brodie (filming at the end of this month):
No more Banky, ladies and gentleman. Well, that is unless Kevin decides to use him again in the future, perhaps somewhere in Fletch....NOOTCH! It was a treat playing him again after all these years. Kevin is the man, isn't he? It was amazing to see Kevin give C. Rock plenty of room for playing in the scene we shot today. I've never really seen that before. I'm so used to Kevin not allowing it. C. Rock definitely came through. Funny as hell. Just thought I'd share my day, my last day, as Banky Edwards.....one of my favorite characters!

NOW, time for some Brodie Bruce action!!!! Two days as Mr. Bruce, and then bye bye Banky and Brodie. Sad, huh? Oh well, there will be plenty more where that came from, right Kevin?

Sounds like Lee really wants work with Kevin more in the future, and we're sure that'll happen. Very cool.

  • As promised, a few more exclusive shots direct from the camera of Scott Mosier to our readers here at News Askew. When Kevin noticed that most of the shots we'd taken of the set from our visit would be spoiler-ridden and couldn't be released, he thought it would be a good idea that we share some non-spoiler type stuff from the vast array of photos that Scott's taken so far. So, above, we've got a few more great shots. They of course expand, just click on them for a much larger, nicer shot. Enjoy, and look for more right here next Monday!

  • As some of you may know, it was ShoWest weekend, the HUGE film convention where a lot of new trailers, movie info, and other coolness happens. This year was a good one for Askew, as two cast members, Shannon Elizabeth and Chris Rock, were given awards. Here's Michael, our scooper, with the latest from the convention:
Just came home from ShoWest this afternoon, and I wanted to give you the ShoWest scoop. The first attached image is the info on J&SBSB as it appeared in the Miramax 2001 release materials that were given out. The second is the poster for the flick that appeared on various walls for the first couple of days of the convention. I'm assuming this is just a very preliminary poster Miramax just slapped-together specifically for ShoWest; after all, it's exceptionally plain and has that possessory credit that Kevin's not too fond of. If you can't read it, the text on the poster reads:

Someone is making their life story into a movie, and they haven't been paid. So they're on their way to Hollywood to get even.

Miramax didn't screen an official product reel for their year's releases, let alone any early J&SBSB footage; just two trailers and a nearly completed (some final FX tweaking still pending) cut of Spy Kids (good fun, but that's another story).

In other Askew-related news at the event, as I'm sure you know, Shannon Elizabeth was NATO's Female Star of Tomorrow and Chris Rock was Comedy Star of the Year. Shannon was obviously overcome with emotion as she accepted the first award she has ever received, as she put it. She thanked family and friends, but most of all her puppies, and she touched on her animal rescue charity.

The awards presentation order was strange, for Chris received his award last (you'd think Comedy Star of the Year would come before Male and Female Stars of the Year). In his acceptance, he echoed the sentiments of everyone in the crowd--or, rather, everyone who was left, for many had bailed early from the four-hour-plus dinner and show: "Isn't this the longest fucking awards show ever?" Needless to say, that comment was met with hearty applause.

Shannon was one of the few awards recipients who stuck around until the end, and she very graciously signed autographs for and posed for pictures with attendees until security whisked her away against her will.

Seann William Scott also turned in appearance Wednesday night, showing up on stage with Evolution co-stars David Duchovny and Orlando Jones, director Ivan Reitman, and Jeffrey Katzenberg prior to the unveiling of the new trailer for that film.

We've got lots of scans, including the Jay & Bob logo (which is the working title logo they're using all around the set and production, too) as well as the page from the Miramax promotional package. Enjoy, and thanks to Mike for the excellent report.

  • It was tough to get good shots of the set due to the distance we had to stay from cameras as well as the limited zoom on the Digital Elph Camera, so Kevin and Scott were kind enough to hook us up with some non-spoiler on-set photos. We'll be running a few NEW, exclusive photos from the set every Friday (at least, that's the plan).

Coming soon, we'll have our own set report complete with photos (the ones that looked decent enough to use, anyway), production art, and lots more. Thanks again to Kevin and Scott for supplying these photos and giving us the rights to post them up exclusively. Enjoy, and look for more of these great shots next week.
