  • After a lull, we’re now in yet another of View Askew’s famous press onslaughts, with the Clerks sequel news in addition to the 2 new discs
on the market next week. Here’s what’s buzzing about the web regarding the Jersey Girl DVD (available September 7th, of course!):
  • Comingsoon.net gives “Clerks X” the high marks it deserves in their review
of the disc. They go into great detail (like our review) and their bottom line is:

“This will be a required addition to the collection of any Kevin Smith fan. An extraordinary number of bonus features make it worth picking up even if you own Clerks on DVD. If you’ve never seen Clerks before, this is the edition you’ll want to view, but beware of lots of profanity and sexual jokes (which are Kevin Smith trademarks).”

  • DVDTalk has a highly positive review of the Jersey Girl disc located HERE. Here’s a snippet:

“Despite being a standard release, the disc is loaded, and the two commentary tracks are almost as entertaining as the movie itself. That’s quite a success, as Kevin Smith tried something different with Jersey Girl, and despite the luke-warm response it received in theaters thanks to the curse of Gigli, the movie is a step forward for the mercurial writer/director. His biggest sin in making this movie was being Kevin Smith. So as he stretches his wings, this DVD could represent the beginning of a new era for New Jersey’s native son, one in which he moves away from his cult beginnings and embraces new possibilities. Like Ollie in the movie, Smith’s fans can be proud. Our boy is growing up before our eyes.”

  • A TV spot for the “Jersey Girl” DVD is being aired. The ad is similar to the trailer and spots that ran during the theatrical run. It’s
cool to see that the studio is still pushing the flick.
  • Official Playstation Magazine (Issue 85) runs a small blurb on the film, giving it positive marks. Click the scan above to see.

We’re sure the flick will prove to be a big renter and a huge seller on home video and DVD.
