  • Another HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (9/10) review for Kevin’s latest comic project, Daredevil: The Target #1! Check out the full review HERE, which named the book the “Best of the Week”.
  • Jason Mewes makes a cameo appearance in the online short film “Hot Rush”. Watch it now over at IFilm.
  • Ben Affleck will star in “Paycheck”, a new Sci-Fi flick directed by John Woo. Hopefully it winds up being one of the GOOD Philip Dick adaptations, along the lines of Total Recall, Blade Runner, and Minority Report.
  • A small View Askew nod appears on Moby’s Tour Diary update at his official website for 11/16/2002: “but that would be bad karma. and other board members would probably pull a ‘jay and silent bob strike back’ on whomever stole the award”.
  • Daredevil one sheets (theatrical movie posters) are showing up in theatres now — You should be able to snag one from an online poster place as well, for around $15. The posters are selling fast, from what we hear, so if you’re looking for one, buy soon!

Will Jersey Girl Get Pushed Back?

November 14th, 2002 @ 10:20 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Rob Smith

  • According to JoBlo.com, Revolution Studios have moved the release of a ton of their flicks around, due to some big competition at the box office this summer. The Affleck/Lopez flick “Gigli” has now been bumped back to August 1st, which might also mean a bump back for “Jersey Girl”, just because we don’t think Miramax will want to release another flick with the pair so soon in the Fall. Of course, that’s all just speculation at this point. We’ll keep ya posted.

  • We’ve got some nice new pics from the recent Kevin appearace in New York City! They’re taken in different styles, the photographers intention (including the blurry one, to give the feeling of movement and chaos as the crowd hit Kevin up for autographs). So, enjoy, click above to see them in their full glory.
  • If you haven’t picked up Daredevil/Bullseye: The Target issue #1 yet (and if not, shame on you!), check out some more info on the book and some of its beautiful artwork at Newsarama.
  • Of course, Affleck & Lopez remain in the news quite a bit: A wedding date hasn’t even been announced, but the couple are receiving good wishes from old friends, including her ex! People online has the story.
  • There’s another Mallrats book up at eBay for auction. It’s around $50 at presstime.
  • One of the clues on yesterday’s Jeopardy, in the “Scooby Doo”, mentioned Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back’s parody of the series.
  • A slight View Askew reference appears in this online comic from the University of Maryland’s school newspaper.
  • TV Guide Online announces that the short-lived (but enjoyable, sad to see it go) Affleck-produced “Push, Nevada” have announced their big million dollar winner:
SO HE’S THE ONE WHO WAS WATCHING: Despite its cancellation, ABC’s mystery yarn Push, Nevada has awarded the $1,045,000 prize to 24-year-old Mark Nakamoto of West New York, N.J. After watching Push’s “Final Clue” on Oct. 28’s Monday Night Football, Nakamoto beat out 10,000 other callers to the show’s hotline and solved the puzzle first. The last episode of the low-rated Push – co-created by Ben Affleck – aired Oct. 24.
  • For those of you out there who are fans of the PC Game “Grand Theft Auto 3”, we’ve posted a few new modifications for the game over at Files Askew. With them, you can add Silent Bob and Quick Stop/RST. Enjoy, but use at your own risk.

Another TV For Sale! Want It?

November 11th, 2002 @ 8:14 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Chris

  • Hey folks, Chris here – I’m looking to sell my TV…It’s one of those BIG 37” Sony WEGA sets, really nice, only a little over a year old. Comes with a stand as well. If you’re interested, send me an email and I can send you photos, more specs, and the like. Nothing at all wrong with it, I’ve taken perfect care of it, it’s in great shape. Just looking at going to a big projection set (this is a tube TV, just about the biggest of those you can get). The flatscreen picture is excellent, many say the best in the business. Anyway, if you’re interested, let me know!

The Latest From Kevin…

November 11th, 2002 @ 8:12 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Kevin Smith

  • Kevin’s been hitting the View Askew WWWBoard more frequently now that Jersey Girl has finished shooting. He’s also been answering some fairly interesting questions, too. Here’s a summary of what we recently learned:
  • An “internet exclusive” trailer for Jersey Girl will likely show up in the next few months.
  • Work is now going to get started on the Clerks 2-disc Special Edition DVD.
  • Talks are currently going on regarding the Clerks cartoon movie.
  • The release of “Jersey Girl” depends a lot on the release of “Gigli”, as they don’t want 2 Ben/Jen flicks coming out around the same time.
  • Finally, you can own the ultra-rare “Mallrats” book once given by Kevin to Malcolm Ingram himself! Bid on that one HERE.

  • We ran the scoop about Lucas’ View Askew mention during the new Star Wars: Attack of the Clones DVD commentary. Here’s a transcript of exactly what he says, and an audio clip as well (he mistakes Dante & Randal for Jay & Silent Bob, but at least he seems to know SOMETHING regarding the famous Clerks scene):
“We had this sequence and because we added it… err, I came up with the idea of adding a little schematic of the Death Star in here because the Geonosians build robots and build things; They’re a sort of construction workers. They would be the ones that probably contracted to build the Death Star and… err, they were the ones that Jay and Silent Bob worried that they got killed on the Death Star but they are after all just a bunch of large termites.”
  • ABCnews.com has confirmed the Affleck/Lopez engagement:
The pair met last December while filming the upcoming gangster movie Gigli, which they co-star in. Their romance became public this summer when they were photographed kissing in public on numerous occasions. During an interview with Primetime’s Diane Sawyer, airing on Wednesday night, Lopez was at first coy on the marriage question, laughing and saying only that, “We’re very, um, secure with our relationship.”

But a few minutes later, during a break to change tape, Lopez thought a minute, called Affleck, and then said they had decided to go on the record.

Sawyer then asked, “Are you engaged?” and Lopez replied, “Yes.”

People Magazine ran a detailed story on this as well.

  • Check out a review of the just-released “Daredevil: Target” issue #1 right HERE.
  • UK Askew spots a striking similarity in this still from the new animated Adam Sandler flick — Sure looks a lot like Bartleby in Dogma!
  • Shipping to comic stores this Thursday — A new issue of Toyfare (#65) with Jay & Silent Bob toys featured on the cover! And, don’t forget, Monkey Man Unleashed #2!

Jersey Girl Shooting Finishes!

November 9th, 2002 @ 10:46 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Kevin Smith, Karla

  • Kevin confirmed that Jersey Girl celebrated their last day of shooting yesterday, finishing things up in New York City with Affleck and Lopez. They did just add one more day of shooting in Los Angeles this January, but the main schedule has now been completed. Interestingly enough, Kevin also confirmed that the next Vulgarthon will likely happen closer to the Jersey Girl release. So, we expect a Vulgarthon probably around next October, where lucky fans who get tix will be among the first to see the film! We’ll keep you posted.
