• We originally expected just one or two video entries a week on the Clerks 2 site, but now, with a bit of budget, time and talent behind the project, it looks like we’re gonna get a whole lot more. Yahoo!

“Day One” gives us just that — A look at the events on DAY ONE of the Clerks 2 shoot. We see the set unveiling, Dante and Randal in (and out of) character, a peek at one of the newest members of the Askewniverse behind the counter, and even a quick look at one of the latest ads of brilliance to come out of Ratface’s shop: The original “Cow Tipper” at just $3.95. Man, ya gotta love it.

There’s a new spot there for a flick called “The Boards” too, which by the looks of the preview, appears it’s going to introduce us to some of the flick’s storyboards (always a personal favorite of ours). However, at presstime, these links are broken at the Clerks 2 site. We’re guessing they’ll be fixed shortly, and when they are, we’ll update this story right here.

As always, the Clerks 2 site is the place to go to watch these in various shapes and sizes. And the quality and download speed have never been better. Kudos to everyone involved. We’re really digging these.

• It seems that no stone will go unturned as far as the Clerks 2 production, given this diary post from Kevin. By the sound of it, you can expect to see a LOT of the film in words and pictures on this site and other sites as the months go by. Here’s Kevin:

We appreciate the graciousness of the information exchange, yet also realize that some of you like going into Kevin’s films without knowing a ton about the plot. We’ll do our best to let you know when potential big plot spoilers are coming through this process, so feel free to read here and remain spoiler-free (if you choose to). However, smaller stuff, such as the location, guest appearances, and such WILL be discussed. We’ll do our best to not cross that line from informative to spoilage.

• With the Clerks 2 videos THIS good before we’ve even reached the set, imagine how cool stuff’s gonna be when we get there, huh? Yep, we’ve got TWO MORE pre-shoot vids for ya today courtesy of the Clerks 2 blog/vlog site. The first one again takes us back to the Cast & Crew kickoff party, where the infamous Brian Johnson documents the festivities through the eyes of his videocam. This is part of a multi-part affair, full of fun and frivolity. If you weren’t there, we imagine this is the next best thing.

The second video is a REAL treat for fans of director David Lynch. Being that your webmasters here are Lynch freaks, this one is extra enjoyable. Imagine if the surrealistic director took on Clerks to recut it — Would this be what it looked like? The clip borrows heavily from Lynch “Fire Walk With Me” Twin peaks prequel film, in both score and occasional scenes. It’s a freaky mind trip of a clip that will make Lynch fans say “Oooo!” and the rest of you say “Huh?”. Dig it.

• Yes, folks, Kevin HIMSELF has let the biggest cat out of the bag, possibly EVER, regarding the plot of Clerks 2. This is no kitty, this one’s a GIANT TIGER. We’ve blurred the thumnail, but click away and you’ll see undeniably the biggest spoiler regarding the plot of Clerks 2 so far. Ok, sure, it doesn’t let you in on what happens in the flick itself, and we’re guessing that this reveal will take place in the trailers that will be ALL over the place, so checking it out isn’t ALL bad. But wow, this is one image that’s gonna have your head spinning at the possibilites for the flick.

Why post it? Kevin explains himself below, basically, that there’s just too many photo snipers out there when you shoot on location, so rather than let someone else spoil his fun, he’s gonna create the fun for us. So you, the fans, benefit. Here’s Kevin (minor spoilers in the next passage as well):

• Here’s the two newest clips from Kevin’s video blog over at Clerks2.com. The first one is a glimpse inside the official kickoff party at Kevin’s house (titled $11,500). Meet the lucky, rich dude who made his way to Kevin’s house for the BBQ (which turned out to be this very party, Suh-weet!). Watch Kev deal some cards on the brand new Hold’em McNeil table. Next time we’re in town, we GOTTA get in one of those poker games.

The second is an interivew with the film’s director of photgraphy Dave Klein and his crew. Man, it’s great to see Dave back in action for a View Askew flick. We’re looking forward to the look that he’s got planned for this one. Did you know it takes FOUR FULL DAYS to prep all the camera equipment for a film shoot? Now ya do. Watch and learn lots, lots more.

• Well folks, it appears that the first HUGE scoops of Clerks 2 has arrived on just the second day of shooting — Given Kevin’s reveal of this beautiful Mooby’s shot, it seems that the Clerks 2 set, or part of it at least, has been built on location, meaning that astute scoopers should be nabbing shots to post to the web. Alright, sure, we know where this is, but we’re not talking! Here’s Kevin to introduce the VERY FIRST shot from the set of Clerks 2:

Since it’s inevitable that someone would snap a pic and send it into one of the many movie-gossip websites out there on the web, I figured I might as well do the honors myself.

Do me a favor: draw no conjectures and jump to no conclusions. This is just one image. It doesn’t tell the story.

Will this be a scene? More than a scene? The backbone of the film? Speculate away, folks. Remember, they built a Mooby’s for Dogma that amounted to just a scene or two of time, same deal with Jay & Bob Strike Back. Does someone in the cast work there? Are they just visiting? • There are days that we’re just giddy to post headlines, and reading that one above you, this is certainly an exciting pleasure. We are happy to announce that today, October 10th, 2005, Clerks 2 has officially started principle photography. The insanity of pre-production is OVER! A lot has changed in the web world since Jersey Girl, so we’re going to expect/assume quite a bit about the shoot both at the Video Blog site, and in Kevin’s online blog, “My Boring-Ass Life”. For starters, Kevin already has given a quick report on Day One:

Since they’re back on the west coast for this one, with us being back east, we sadly won’t be able to give you full in-depth set coverage, though we’re hoping to make a set visit at some point during production, and also assume we’ll have some good exclusive stuff from the cast, crew, and our friends who are closer to the production. Stay tuned for a lot more Clerks 2 coverage now that things have kicked into high gear, and here’s to a speedy recovery for Jen. Feel better.

• Okay, folks — This one is gonna floor ya. It’s truly a crowning achievement of editing genius, obviously an extended labor of love, and, dare we say, another View Askew first. This new Clerks 2 teaser does what you may think impossible – Breaks the profanity sound barrier. Well, if such a thing existed, anyway. We gotta assume that every single obscenity from the film is included in this clip, which, almost certainly, has to set some sort of record for the amount of profanity in such a short span of time (yeah, we’re even looking your way, “The Aristocrats”). So, what can we say, but watch, listen, and enjoy. And if you’re at work, we STRONGLY suggest strapping on some headphones. Enjoy. All courtesy the new Clerks 2 Vlog website. • Filming hasn’t even started on “Clerks 2″ yet, and we can already confess – This new Video Blog is an addiction. The latest installment is the best yet, and takes you right into the stylist’s studio as Kevin and Jay get their manes prepared for filming. Yes, folks, movie magic as you have never seen it before. What’s going to be fun about this series, it seems, is the fact that it’s going to go in unexpected directions. We won’t be seeing the typical side of making a feature, but rather, some stuff that you’ve never seen put to film before. We’re hoping this is just a taste of a much larger collection of footage for a future documentary, as we’re betting it would be a classic.

You can, of course, watch this flick in a large or small format over at the Clerks 2 blog site, with Apple’s Quicktime. The quality is excellent, and for those of you with high speed lines, the startup on even the largest files should be almost instant. The “Train Wreck” saga continues, as we present “Revenge of the Mullet”!

• We’ll make this short and sweet. Kevin fielded a couple random questions regarding Clerks 2 that had some interesting, telling answers.

First off, Clerks 2 will have NO SCORE! We think that’s just perfect, especially if they go for an all album-oriented soundtrack throughout the film, much like the original film. We’re hoping for a lineup of new talent, as well as a return of some of the classic artists who helped make that first soundtrack such a success. Let’s see what we can dig up for ya.

And second, where will the film debut? Turns out the aim is the festival of festivals, Cannes! This would make a lot of sense for the film, given the original was there over 10 years ago at the same time. We’re sure they’ll make it, especially with Kevin and Scott’s speedy and diligent editing talents on board.
