Rutgers Talk Cleared Up…

August 29th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Kevin will be appearing at the Camden Campus of Rutgers University. Kevin does say, however, that you should contact your school activities board and ask for him by name (kinda like those old light beer commercials).

Seriously, your colleges should ALL have budgets in their activities funds for this kinda stuff, and now that I think about it, I regret never suggesting anyone at my school since most of out guest speakers pretty much sucked. Also, judging from what he’s said, Kevin’s more than happy to do this sorta thing if his schedule permits. So if you’re in school now, look into it! Just think, you could be the one to go up and shake Kev’s hand and say, “I’m the reason you’re here.” Not bad, ‘eh?

Help With The Jay & Silent Bob Cursors…

August 29th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • I’ve seen comments and received mails from just a few folks who are having trouble with the zip file or setting up the cursors themselves. Therefore, I’ll try to go into some detail here for those of you who need the help. First of all, you’ll need a zip program to uncompress the file. Here’s the latest version of Winzip. Now, make sure you’re using Windows. Sorry, these files won’t work on anything but a Windows-based PC. It’s been years since I used Win 3.1, so if anyone has instructions for setting these up in there, let me know. These instructions are for Windows 95/NT only:
  • Unzip the file using the program you downloaded.
  • Use Windows Explorer to cut and paste the files from where you unzipped them to into your C:WindowsCursors directory.
  • Under your Control Panel, select Mouse, and Pointers.
  • You’ll see a list of all the different pointers and their corresponding events (busy, normal, etc…). I use the Jay and Silent Bob cursors for the two different busy states (background and busy).

Sorry if this is still too vague, I was never good at explaining PC stuff, really. I always take for granted the things that people know just because I do. If you need further instructions, drop me a line.

Oh, and as for all the problems that some of you running at lower color depths and such have been having…Never fear! Steve’s put Cursors Askew online for all your cursor and graphic needs. There you can find different versions of the cursors that will look good for all configurations, plus a few more nice surprises as well.

Dogma Script Summary…

August 29th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • The Dark Horizons website has a complete summary of the Dogma script. We’ve put a local copy right here. SPOILER ALERT!!! Don’t read this unless you don’t mind ruining the movie. We both managed to post this WITHOUT reading it, since we just can’t bring ourselves to spoil the flick. Read at your own risk, folks.

This will allow you to go directly to the latest WWWBoard without accessing the main View Askew page first (As well as allow us to link to the board easier in our news stories). Remember, the previous boards will still be available, as always. Use THE LAST BOARD link at the top or the WWWBoard Search to access the previous ones.

Dogma On Dark Horizons…

August 28th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • The guy who runs the Dark Horizons website (which contains the latest film rumors) made this entry:
Dogma: A fellow web-buddy of mine that goes by the name of Justin McGill has managed to make contact with an extra on the set of the film “Vulgar”, and has confirmed that ‘Mallrats’ star Ethan Suplee will play the role of a ‘Shit Demon’ (possibly based on the life of Newt Gingrich or Pauline Hanson. OOOOHH! I just go too far!).

Dancing Silent Bob Cursor!

August 28th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Our resident graphics guru, Steve Rettinger, has really outdone himself this time. We are now proud to present the Dancing Silent Bob Mouse Cursor for Windows! This is a real beauty folks, and a must download. The cursor’s so small it’s not worth posting a pic, but we’ve taken it and added it to a zip file along with the dancing jay (see below) as well. You can get the file, containing both cursors, right here. It’ll take seconds to download at any speed. Steve also hopes to do some cleanup work on the dancing Jay cursor to make it appear as clean and sharp as the Bob. Steve, you’re good.

New Dogma Rumors Webpage…

August 27th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Alright, so it’s a little competition for us, but we’ve always been big fans of Corona’s Movie Rumors WebPage, and they’ve just added a new section on Dogma. Most of their info looks to be coming from here or the View Askew WWWBoard (Including some really big spoilers that we decided not to read or post, so be warned!). Anyway, expect some of the more juicy and revealing Dogma updates on their page, so if you’re interested, it’s worth a look now and then for sure.

More On Pix Posters…

  • Smalls wrote to let us know that he had the chance to visit a smaller outlet of Pix Posters at Syracuse University. Apparently they have some satellite shops here and there. So if any of you know where any of their locations are or have visited any, let us know what you find! You might be surprised…

Problems Askew…

August 27th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • As we write this update, www.viewaskew.com is down once again. We’re not sure if it’s a net problem or if they’re in the process of doing those major website upgrades we’ve been hearing about. More details here on this site (Which WILL be online!) as soon as we know, as always.

  • We hope to have some Big Helium Dog information for you VERY soon, in lieu of the website’s disappearance. I’m in the process of trying to set up a chat with the director, Brian Lynch. Sounds like everything’s fine with the flick. Check back with us for all the dirt, coming soon!
