What’s New With Us?

August 3rd, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • All kinds of stuff’s going on here…In fact, between trips to Hershey Park, the PA Renaissance Faire, and Stoudt’s Beer Festival, it’s amazing this update is happening at all. But we know you’re dying for some news, and we’re just too dedicated to leave ya hangin’. Tomorrow, we’re going to archive the July news, which you’ll be able to access thru the menu at the top of the screen. News will never go away, it’ll just be archived. The logo contest ends this Saturday. We’re updating the GLOBAL RULES for the drinking games with a new one, so you’ll want to get the latest files for all 3 of the games if you’re playing along at home. Thanks to Wendy for the rule suggestion. By the way, looks like Wendy’s e-mail address is in Australia! The drinking games are reaching other continents, and we think that’s pretty cool.

Our “Superman Lives” Impressions (SPOILER ALERT!)…

August 1st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Well, that didn’t take long. We’ve both read Kevin’s Superman Lives script, and let me tell ya, this thing is tough to put down!

As you read the script, it’s definitely apparent that this is a completely different tone than ever seen in any of the previous Superman flicks, yet some of the classic lines and concepts still manage to peek through every once in a while. Askew fans will even find some familar character names popping up now and then, but that’s all we’re gonna say about that. Another thing: There really IS some great dialogue here. Don’t get me wrong, the script sure does have some action sequences that would’ve looked spectacular onscreen, but some of the scenes between Supes and Lois, as well as some really good exchanges with the Eradicator (who gets some of the greatest lines, in my opinion) are what really sets this script apart from the hack job that’s most certainly going to be put together for Burton’s flick.

Here’s Kev’s dream cast for the movie, had it been made:

My cast:

Cage as Supes
Nicholson as Luthor
Fiorentino as Lois
Patrick Stewart as Brainiac

Call us, nostalgic, but we’d have like to have seen Gene Hackman filling Lex’s shoes again, but Nicholson would have been cool. It’d also be interesting to see who Kev would’ve liked to have used for the voices of L-Ron and the Eradicator. Oh, well. Curse you, Warner Brothers.

Kev’s Birthday Tomorrow!

August 1st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Your favorite director and ours, Kevin Smith, turns 27 tomorrow! Why not stop by the WWWBoard and wish him a happy birthday? It’s a pretty amazing feat to have 3 outstanding flicks under your belt by that age, if you ask us. By the way, Kev says he plans spending his birthday signing all the stuff everyone has on back-order from the Stash. Whatta guy. Happy Birthday, Kev!

DeGrassi Jr. High Fan Club & Site…

August 1st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Found a mail in the box this morning from Oren Shay telling us about a Degrassi Jr. High Site that he runs. As you may or may not know, Kev’s a fan of the show and has put a few subtle references into his movies about it. There’s a small bit of Kevin info here, but if you like the Degrassi, you may want to check it out.

We’re Sorry…

August 1st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Yep, we’re human, and we make mistakes. But apparently, TV Guide does, too. According to TV Guide’s Website, Politically Incorrect with Kevin as one of the guests was supposed to air at 9:30 last night, but instead, some cop show was on with people dying and in general misery all over the place. It was pretty disturbing, actually. Anyway, sorry for the false info, we do the best we can to check everything before we post it here, but if someone else screws up,hey, it’s not TOTALLY our fault. Hope you didn’t cancel any plans to stay home and watch it.

Next Update…

August 1st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • There may not be an update tomorrow, because we’ve got a really busy Friday night & Saturday planned. But we’ll have some more insights into the Superman script and a possible Dogma casting rumor for you (if you already haven’t picked it up on the webboard). See ya then! Remember, the logo contest ends next Saturday. You’ve got a week left!

Kevin Lands On The Tube Again…

July 31st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Catch Kevin Smith on a Politically Incorrect rerun, tonight on ABC, at 9:30 EST. Watch Kev match wits with host Bill Maher and guests Jane Seymour, Michael McKean, and Holly McClure. Thanks to Ron B. for the heads-up.

We’re also working on verifying a rumor that Kev will be appearing on Space Ghost: Coast To Coast on The Cartoon Network sometime in August. Details will be right here as soon as we can verify this.

Superman Lives…In Our Mailbox!

July 31st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Well, what have we here? Looks like 2 of Kevin Smith’s Superman Lives scripts! Cool! It’s a bit of a pleasant surprise to have these, actually, judging by the rarity of the script initially when it was making all the news, with Tim Burton’s overtaking of the project and re-writing of the script to accommodate silliness like Jim Carrey one-liners and such. Anyway,it’s going to be fun reading this…We’ll have some details on the script within the next few days.

We got these things, by the way, from the Pix Poster Cellar. They were ordered on Friday and actually arrived Wednesday, we were just both away at the time. Not a bad turnaround time at all. In fact, we’re so happy we’ll even give them a plug! Here’s how to reach them:

Nothing To Report, Really…

July 30th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Well, we had a lot going on there for a bit, but it looks like things have cooled down, so we really don’t have that much to say today. We’re not abandoning the site, don’t worry! In fact, I took advantage of the spare time to fix some small bugs and change a few things around. Note the counter at the top of the page and the new Archives section, where you’ll be able to check out the news from past months, going all the way back to our meager beginnings. Anyway, don’t freak out if you don’t see an update every day. We’d rather do quality stuff than just make up some B.S. to fill the page. Keep checking us, though, it can’t stay this quiet for TOO long around here!

Also, please keep in mind, we’re still a young site, so there’s some bugs around. Please e-mail me if you find any. I’ll be your best friend!

Also, times like this are GREAT times to scoop for us! If you hear a rumor or just have some interesting info for us about anything Askew, drop us a line!
