ViewAskew.Com’s News Askew Section…

July 27th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Well, we had kinda hoped to see a link to us from View Askew’s HomePage after reading Kev’s post (see below), but it looks like Ming has decided to just start his own news section instead. Check it out here. We’re not sure what this means for us or for our page, since it was brought up today without any acknowlegement or even a link to us. We’re going to keep going here, and hope that we can serve as a nice companion piece to the info you find on View Askew’s home site, although we can’t help but feel a little slighted, considering this stuff went up the day after Kev made his post. For now, we’re gonna give Ming and the gang the benefit of the doubt and assume we were still gonna get linked or at least credited somehow on their page, because, after all, viewaskew.com is trulyan outstanding webpage, and Ming’s really done a great job with it. Just don’t forget about us! And again, thanks for your continued support.

We’re Flattered!

  • Well, we usually don’t post stuff like this, but we saw this reply to some of our propaganda on the WWWBoard and just couldn’t resist sharing it with you:
Subject: I love this site

: We still say it’s the best View Askew site out there (Aside from this one, of course!)

And you’re right.

This is a grand, grand site, people. And though I’m not a drinker, I’m sure the games are at least as cool as the site itself.

King Ming – let us link this wonderful achievement to the front page!

Congrats, gents.

Wow! I think we both almost fell out of our chairs when we saw that post. Kev, if you’re reading this, thanks for the praise! We really appreciate it. Hearing stuff like that makes it all worthwhile. And now back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Dogma and Theme Parks

July 27th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Well, our script scooper turned out to be Jason Hambach. Thanks for your info, Jason! Jason also tells us that there’s a mention of bi-coastal theme parks in “Dogma”, called Mooby World. Most likely this will just end up being a tie-in to the 5th flick. Latest rumors point to Dogma’s shooting taking place in Memphis. More details on this site as they come up.

Time Is Running Out!

July 26th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Let’s start by saying thanks to all of you who’ve submitted logo graphics to us so far. The turnout’s been great and the quality is high. We’ve decided on a closing day for the contest. That day will be FRIDAY, AUGUST 8th. The new logo will appear on that page either that evening or the following day. The winner of the contest will get a nice juicy credit etched in stone (or the HTML equivalent of that) under the graphic on the page. Hey, if we were rich we’d offer cash or something, but life’s tough, what can we say?

Anyway, you’ve still got time. Send those drinks askew logos to brad@newsaskew.com and we’ll add ‘em into the running! Thanks and good luck!

Kevin Smith’s “Agent Of Cool” Interview…

Alright, So I’m A Little Bummed…

July 26th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • By the way, this isn’t really exactly View Askew news, but I thought you might find it amusing, anyway. Normally I check on the WWWBoard and pages for news and updates during the day from work, but apparently my company has decided that View Askew’s page is too full of profanity and other horrible things, therefore, http://www.viewaskew.com has now been marked as a blocked site! So if you’re wondering why updates are coming a little slower, that’s my excuse. Maybe if I visit the Microsoft page enough they’ll block that one, too.

Ain’t This COOL???

July 25th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

So ya want some top secret KEVIN SMITH news? Well one of the elusive geeks of theworld, T-Bird, did a little 2 minute interview with the man himself. No, nothing on Superman, but instead a hint about that mysterious secret project. Hmmmmm.

“ME: So what ever happened to the guy that played Randal in Clerks?

KS: He’s comming back in the next two films.

ME: Oh thats good…wait a second. Two films? I know DOGMA is nextbut whats after that?

KS: Ummm…ohhh…ummmm….well…I can’t really say anything about itright now.

ME: Still negotiaing huh? (He nods while signing my book) Okay, next question: Have you ever considered doing a film like CLERKS, but about Theme Park employees?

KS: WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY? (At this point he drops the pen and starts toreally pay attention)

ME: I said, Have you ever considered making a film like CLERKS, but about Theme Parks, the employees, the rides, obnoxious guests, and all the weirdness that happens in that kind of environment?

KS: Its funny you should mention that. (Said in shock and low so thatonly I could hear.)

ME: Ahhh…the secret fifth film? (He only nodded, smiled, shook my hand, and pass my book onto JAY to sign as well.)

This is great news, having working in the Theme Park biz for 10 years, you’ve only to read a book like MOUSE TAILS to know that a lot of funny business goes on behind the scenes at a park, even Disneyland.

Considering that all his films take place in the Tri-State area, the only real theme park in that area is Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, ripe for filming. Also, if this project is more ambitious than Chasing Amy or Dogma to put the Silent Negotiations mode on-line then perhaps he’s dealing with Warner Brothers for both the film and access to the Theme Park itself as well.”

If there’s any truth to this, I’m going to hafta work on inventing that time travel machine. Don’t think I can stand the wait! Why is this cool? Well, we both live about 3 hours from Great Adventure in New Jersey. Can you say “extras”? I knew that you could.

There Goes ANOTHER Paycheck…

Want A Kevin Smith “Superman Lives” Script, Huh?

July 25th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Got a mail this afternoon from an anonymous scooper, who tells us that Kevin Smith’s Superman Lives script can be purchased at this number:
1-800-666-7499. What the hell, I figure, I’ll bite! So, I call, and sure enough, it’s a script place! “Do you have any Kevin Smith’s Superman Livesscripts?”, I say. “Yes, I do!” Bingo! “How have they been selling?” He proceeded to tell me that he’d already sold a ton, and is looking to get more. I ordered 2 for us, of course, so there may still be some left for you if you hurry.

Just remember where ya heard it, and, scooper, if you’re reading this, thanks for the heads up!
