First Day Down, Van Der Beek In…

January 17th @ 11:21 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Bank Holdup

  • Well, the headline pretty much speaks for itself. Kevin’s finished the first OFFICIAL day of shooting the flick, and it sounds like it started off just splendidly. Great to hear. Here’s the director himself:
The Official Day One In The Can

Finished the first scheduled day a few hours ago. Wonderful, funny stuff with George Carlin who was – once again – such a generous, professional performer.

We’ve seen two days worth of dailies, which look really good, and play very funny. The practical special effects by Vince Guastini and his amazing crew of way-too-talented sculptors are top notch. Jamie (our D.P.) is one helluva shooter.

Tomorrow: all Biggs and Van Der Beek action!

Co-starring Jay and Silent Bob, of course.

Duchovny Out For Jay & Bob…

January 17th @ 10:44 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Rich McCarthy, Roy Opochinski & Scott

  • Aint It Cool News broke this scoop just this evening, ending the rumors flat. David Duchovny will not be involved with Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back due to scheduling conflicts, but from the sound of things may want to work with Kevin in the future (so it’s not all bad). Here’s the story, with thanks to AICN:
“One bit of news from the visit, though. David Duchovny told us that he is not going to be able to work his schedule out for JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, the new Kevin Smith comedy. He’d been heavily rumored to be playing a small role in the film, and regrets not being able to make it work. Mr. Duchovny (who I was just told is “yummy” by the pretty-darn-yummy-herself Marla Singer) said that he would love to work with Kevin Smith at some point, and he seemed genuinely irritated at the way his EVOLUTION schedule is going to take him right up to his return to X-FILES later this spring.”

“Jay & Silent Bob” To Go Against “American Pie 2”?

January 17th @ 8:02 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by The Drunken Cossack

  • Lots of rumblings are going around regarding the proposed August 10, 2001 release date going around regarding “American Pie 2”. As many of you know, and Kevin himself has joked, the flick shares a LOT of actors with “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back”, and presently shares a proposed release date. Not only that, but with both the flicks being R-rated comedies after the same demographic, we’re almost positive that someone is going to move dates. With Jay & Bob already underway, and AP2 still just in a scripting stage, we don’t think the August 10th date is in jeopardy, at least as far as AP2 is concerned. Dimension wants Jay & Bob out on that date, and we’ve got a feeling it’s going to make it. Of course, we’re not always right, either. We’ll let you know if anything changes.

January 17th @ 8:00 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by DVD Debate

  • Lee from the DVD Debate website contacted us with some exciting news for those of you in the UK, or anyone with a DVD player that can do Region 2, really. It appears that Clerks will hit DVD this summer, including everything from the US DVD version, as well as an anamorphic transfer! We’re not sure if this means they’re doing a totally new transfer from the original elements, or if it’s going to be a cheated anamorphic, but we’ll keep you posted. As strong supporters of full anamorphic DVDs, it’s always nice to see a flick being made available that way. Here’s what Lee had to say:
We’ve unearthed a little item of news that may be of interest to your UK viewers. After a long chat with the UK distributors, Artificial Eye, we’ve managed to find out that Clerks is due for a region 2 DVD release in the summer. They hope to include everything from the Miramax Collector’s Ed plus…ours should be anamorphic 😉

The only problem may be legal clearance of the Soul Asylum video which is one of the things holding up the release but they are hopeful that it will be available.
