• I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record here, but I need to come to the masses here again with another request – I need a fairly powerful PC for a project I’m currently working on (Around a Pentium II 400 or something close to that). I don’t need a monitor or some of the other components, just the basic stuff. So, if you’ve got something you think might help that you’d be willing to sell at a reasonable price, PLEASE drop me a line and we’ll talk. • Well, Psycomic might be going away but that doesn’t mean we still can’t be excited about the new flick…Remember that teaser poster that we posted a LONG while back that was created when VA5 was just a dream? Well, the original creator of that, William Coughlan, has updated the teaser and sent it to us in 3 formats, small, medium, and large. This is a VERY cool little one-sheet, definitely fan-oriented, but if you’re reading this site you’ll certainly appreciate it.

Keep in mind this is a fan-made poster and not official in the least. Still, I’d frame it and hang it up. Check it out and post your opinions in the Talkbacks – We’re quite fond of it!

• We’re unable to confirm this, and it might just be a mistake, but E! Online passively mentioned that Eliza Dushku (who Kevin discussed in a recent Psycomic column) will appear in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. We haven’t seen this announced anywhere else though, so we’re keeping her off the official cast list until this can be confirmed or denied.
• Gig Records has done a huge update on their A Better Place soundtrack page. They confirm the release date for the CD and the DVD as February (tentative, of course, but a good sign), have a page of really nice photos from the film and bascally lots of information for those who haven’t seen it. Surf over and check it out. It’s a good disc to add to your View Askew soundtrack collection.
• Speaking of View Askew DVD releases, according to the “Indie DVD Product Timeline”, their Drawing Flies DVD is now scheduled for a third quarter 2001 release! This is the first time we’ve seen anything official about the release date on this film. We’ll keep you posted.
• “Lee World”, a Jason Lee fan site , have added multimedia featuring Lee movies and sounds, a new section called LeeXperiance in which fans can post stories on meetings with the guy, a poll, news, and more. Surf over to check it out.
• Speaking of Lee, here’s some info from an Excite story on Lee’s “Stealing Stanford”:

• Kevin and Clerks get their fair share of coverage at this story at the My Video Store website – A Sundance retrospective.
• “Almost Famous”‘s theatrical release in the UK has been pushed back a week to February 2nd.

• Psycomic writer Gabe Soria just mentioned in his latest Psycomic column that the site is going under. He and all the other writers for the site were just “given their walking papers”:

We’re not sure of the future of the “Developing The Monkey” column that Kevin has been writing for the site, but we assume there’s a couple possibilities: (1) Another site may pick up the column and continue it, employing Kevin and paying him for his work, (2) Kevin may continue the column at the View Askew site or here at News Askew, (3) Kevin will not write official columns, but instead just use the View Askew WWWBoard to keep us informed on the flick. As soon as we know, you’ll know.

• Well, the headline pretty much speaks for itself. Kevin’s finished the first OFFICIAL day of shooting the flick, and it sounds like it started off just splendidly. Great to hear. Here’s the director himself:

• Aint It Cool News broke this scoop just this evening, ending the rumors flat. David Duchovny will not be involved with Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back due to scheduling conflicts, but from the sound of things may want to work with Kevin in the future (so it’s not all bad). Here’s the story, with thanks to AICN:

• Lots of rumblings are going around regarding the proposed August 10, 2001 release date going around regarding “American Pie 2”. As many of you know, and Kevin himself has joked, the flick shares a LOT of actors with “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back”, and presently shares a proposed release date. Not only that, but with both the flicks being R-rated comedies after the same demographic, we’re almost positive that someone is going to move dates. With Jay & Bob already underway, and AP2 still just in a scripting stage, we don’t think the August 10th date is in jeopardy, at least as far as AP2 is concerned. Dimension wants Jay & Bob out on that date, and we’ve got a feeling it’s going to make it. Of course, we’re not always right, either. We’ll let you know if anything changes.

• Lee from the DVD Debate website contacted us with some exciting news for those of you in the UK, or anyone with a DVD player that can do Region 2, really. It appears that Clerks will hit DVD this summer, including everything from the US DVD version, as well as an anamorphic transfer! We’re not sure if this means they’re doing a totally new transfer from the original elements, or if it’s going to be a cheated anamorphic, but we’ll keep you posted. As strong supporters of full anamorphic DVDs, it’s always nice to see a flick being made available that way. Here’s what Lee had to say:

• Too Many Nicknames have posted a clip of “Chasing Kevin”, the famous short/satire that capped the end of Vulgarthon late last year. Readers of this site may recall all the questions about the film within the film, “Employees” that strangely mirrors the plot and characters of Clerks. Satire? For real? Check out the new Chasing Kevin clip at their official site and see for yourself!

• There’s a short little sound bite from Jason Lee on Cinescape Online. He talks very briefly about playing TWO ROLES in J&SBSB and says the film has “a lot of chaos”. Cryptic.
• An advanced review of the upcoming issue #1 of Green Arrow appears at Fandom.com
• More UK News: Jason Lee’s turn in Almost Famous hits the screen on January 26th, and Ben Affleck in Bounce moves into theaters a week before on January 19th.

Also, Empire Online summarized the Psycomic announcements last week, focusing a great deal on the hopeful Duchovny cameo.

• Quite a few folks wrote in to tell us there’s a picture of Jay Mewes and Pauly Shore on that site we mentioned yesterday for Shore’s new flick. We’ve got a copy for you above.
