- We’ve been enjoying watching folks squirm waiting for the official announcement on the “small project†that’s coming in 2005 from View Askew. Yep, we know what it is, but the scoop is going to be broken first to the Associated Press this weekend by Kevin, at which point we’ll be able to post it up here, officially.
We think you’ll like what you hear.
That being said, Kevin’s got a HUGE schedule of public appearances set up, as well as some nice promotion for the excellent Jersey Girl and Clerks X DVDs, arriving in stores a week from this Tuesday. If you’ve yet to read our reviews of these discs, do so immediately. We’ve got the inside scoop on all their content!
Let’s take a look at what Kevin’s got on the plate for the next few months (including the first confirmation of “Evening With Kevin Smith 2″…
– For those in the L.A. area: I’ll be on the KTLA Morning News on Monday, and Kevin and Bean the morning of the signing, pimping “Clerks X†and “Jersey Girl†dvd’s and signing at the Stash.
– Signing’s shaping up nicely. It’s also going to be taped for inclusion on “An Evening With Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder.†So if you’re there, you may wind up on a dvd.
– Speaking of “Evening 2″, Col/Tristar has approved the proposal for three venues: one in Toronto, one in London, and one in Vegas. We’re hoping to go back to the Roy Thomson Hall for the TO venue. For Vegas, we’re hoping to get the Hard Rock Casino’s “Joint†stage. Open to suggestions for the London venue (we’ll need a bigger space than that theater in Leicester Square to accommodate the cameras and whatnot).
– I was sent a box of “Clerks X†dvd’s today. This is one sweet package. The texture of the box is like the texture of the original “Fight Club†dvd. I can’t urge you enough to pick this up.
– Watched the “Jersey Girl†extras and checked out the transfer. All look great. That Ben and I jerking off one another piece is actually pretty entertaining. This dvd is totally worth picking up – especially considering that there’s been no word of another edition yet.
– Sept. 4th, I’m heading down to Florida to see my Mom and Brother… and sign all the “Clerks X†and “Jersey Girl†dvd’s. That way, most of you will be receiving your signed copies pretty close to the street date.
– Stash is looking fiiiiiiiine. We’re almost there. We’ve got a manager, and get this: she’s a girl. A comics chick – who knew? Her name’s Kelly, and she’s a big Warrant fan (if you’re looking to curry favor, bust a little “She’s My Cherry Pie†for her).
– There’s a lot of press breaking for the “Clerks X†and “Jersey Girl†dvd’s. Keep an eye out for stuff at AOL (for which I recorded an intro), Entertainment Weekly, and tv: the good folks at Buena Vista Home Entertainment sprung for a commercial that we shot last week. Pretty funny stuff that you’ll probably see popping up on Comedy Central.
– And finally… visitors to the Westwood Stash Wednesdays through Sundays are in for a treat: Mewes is gonna be working there for awhile. Pop in to buy some books off Jay, or have a smoke with him (Marlboro’s only, folks; the man’s been clean for almost a year and a half now).
