- Today was a historic day in the world of askew. The ViewAskew WWWBoard as you’ve come to love has been replaced with a new and improved version. This change should really help out with all the morons jumping on the board and posting hundreds of lame posts. Take it away Kevin…
Remember: you’ve got two weeks (from this moment) of free registration. After that, the $2.00 registration fee kicks back in.
We’re allowing only ONE username per person. If you try to name-hoard, you’re gonna get yourself banned. If at some point in the future, you decide you want to change whatever handle you pick today, you’ll be able to do that. In the meantime, don’t be greedy: one username and account is all you need.
Now that the details are out of the way…
I’m gonna miss this place. Waaaay back in 1996, when Ming and I were first putting together viewaskew.com, I told him I wanted to be able to do a once-a-week Q&A with people who visit the site. He said he could do me one better, and introduced me to this board. And since then, it’s been an integral part of my life; in many ways, my second home.
I’m a sentimental fuck, so I’ll miss this simple format. But sometimes, you’ve gotta grow; accept change.
And all sentimentality to the side, this isn’t the board. This is just the technology by which we conduct our ongoing conversations. All of you and me – everyone who posts… WE’RE the board. The look of the place may be changing, but the spirit? That’s been the same since we started this little chat, nearly ten years ago. And that spirit will carry over to the next incarnation of this virtual clubhouse.
This is hardly the end. In the post-credit P.S. of “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”, a book’s being closed. However, in that scene, eagle-eyes may have noticed there were MANY pages left AFTER the “The End” page (nobody ever mentioned it here, though; and I thought you guys were good…). Which I always intended to mean that there’s a lot more story to tell…
Just like with our board.
Click the link below and the future is your’s.
The board is dead. Long live the board.
