- That is the question we ask in today’s update and new poll topic. After posting our Dogma pics yesterday, we received a letter from Vincent Guastini, the guy responsible for Dogma’s FX, stating that he’s not pleased about his shots getting up on the net so far in advance of Dogma’s release. Here’s his letter:
And I can’t beleave Kevin is gonna be anymore happy about it either. To be honest to keep showing the stuff so early in advance, from stuff that is in the movie itself, kinda spoils the film. Showing drawings, ideas, rough outlines, to wet fans taste is one thing. But to show the stuff itself I think not only takes away from what you guys are trying do for View Askew but also takes away from the film itself.
Buts its your site you can do as you please, but I very much don’t like the tricks in the magic hat tipped for everyone to see, post, or do as they please with it before the Magic act itself has gone on. You can post this letter if you like on your web site.
Sincerely
Vincent Guastini
We can certainly see his point of view…After all, he designed all these cool FX, and naturally he’d rather they be unveiled with the flick rather than in still frames on the net, especially so far in advance. However, we also feel that SOME shots (not all FX shots we get) are suitable for posting without causing any real spoiler type material to be seen. Frankly, as webmasters of an unofficial news site on View Askew stuff, we kinda feel it’s our job to you folks. We try and do our best to blur pictures and block stories that we think will ruin things for you so that you, the reader, have the final say on whether you’d like to see this stuff or not.
The fact remains though, as Vincent says, that some of his FX shots are naturally going to surface before Dogma hits theatres next October. In fact, next year there will surely be a TON of them. We’re putting them up a lot earlier than other folks, which is bound to cause some problems and hard feelings among the folks that would rather have everything kept under wraps. In this day and age of cyberspace though, it’s pretty tough.
And so, we thought, why not hear what you folks had to say on this topic as well? Please cast your vote in this week’s News Askew poll topic. And, as always, thanks for visiting!
