- Here’s the story that’s had all the fans a-buzzin’ lately: A post from Kevin recently revealed that Clerks II indeed WILL go out into theaters without a single cut. Having screened with the MPAA, this means one of two things: An unrated version of Clerks II, or an “R” rated version. There’s no in-between. Considerng Kevin’s expectation to go out unrated, his post, which follows, seems to indicate that a different outcome is in store — Did Clerks II actually earn that “R” rating? Having seen the film, we can say it’s actually quite possible, when comparing it to some of the other flicks that have passed the test lately. Defintiely on the FRINGE, but here’s hoping. Check out the post:
I’m not at liberty to say what the ruling was just yet, but I will say this much…
We’re not gonna have to cut anything from the film to get a theatrical release.
Let the speculation begin…
An R-rating would ensure that no theater would turn the film down. Some chains still have a no-unrated policy, which would limit the release structure. With talk of only 1,000 or so screens, the film could still find a home unrated, but “R” would make the choices unlimited. We’ll keep you posted.
