More Clerks Arclight Info!

April 10th @ 7:02 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Ming

  • Here’s the latest on the sold-out Clerks reunion/screening at the Arclight next week. It’s sounding better all the time, dare we say some of you might have even wanted to buy plane tix to make it to this one! Anyway, here’s the added info, hope you got tix if you wanted them!
‘CLERKS’ 10TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION SCREENING AND Q&A UPDATE!!!

To those lucky enough to be going to the ‘Clerks’ 10th Anniversary Reuion Screening at the ARCLIGHT in Los Angeles – we have updated details for you:

* Confirmed Guests: Kevin Smith 6 other cast and crew members. Who are they? We’re leaving it a surprise.

* Most of these cast and crew members have not been together in 10 years. This will truly be a reunion.

* A word about the Q&A after the screening: This will be recorded and included on the upcoming ‘Clerks’ 10th Anniversary DVD. Since time is going to be limited, we’d like to keep the focus of the questions on ‘Clerks’ and the experiences of the cast and crew members. If you’ll be participating in the Q&A session, please try to keep the question focus on ‘Clerks.’ Many thanks.

* Sadly, the screening is SOLD OUT (you have to move faster than that!) If you do need or happen to have an extra ticket, please let people know on the board. Thanks.

There’s a new area over in the News Askew Forums reserved for ticket holders to this event. Feel free to stop there to discuss your plans, and make connections to meet up with other fans at the event! Please remember though, the area is only to be used for discussion of the Arclight Clerks show.

  • It’s sad to see such a great series wrapping up, but one of Anotony’s last Jersey Gilm columns is now available at the ‘Shoot. This one as an interview with Kevin , and features some never before seen behind the scenes photos, including that infamous wedding scene! Lots of info from Kevin on stuff cut from the film as well, which will hopefully be back on DVD. Another must-read.
  • Lots of mail came in on this one today. “Jersey Girl” was today’s IMDB Quote of the Day, a rare feat for such a new release:
“OLLIE: ‘You’re the only thing I was ever good at.’ “

SOUTHLAND TALES also has a page at the IMDB now, though last we heard, nothing on this flick was official yet.

  • We’re also getting a lot of mail on this, and weren’t even gonna run it, but it seems a lot of fans think that Easter Bunny beatings (which sadly seem to occur annually now) are Askew news due to Jay & Bob’s Mallrats actions…At any rate, Yahoo had the story. Sounds a little like relgion out of control.
  • According to the official BBFC website, Jersey Girl has been awarded a 12A rating in the UK. This means that anyone over 12 can see the film without supervision. Anyone under 12 can still see it, but with an adult. No changes or cuts have been made from the US version.

  • And in more international JG news: Fans in Korea were thrilled to write and tell us that the film opened there today, as the last 2 View Askew films didn’t make it to the big screen there. The film also opens in Israel today, where apparently Liv Tyler is a big draw. The Israel E! Online site has art to prove it, notice how prevalent she is on the poster art.
  • Eliza Dushku will be appearing next weekend in the UK at the Memorabilia show. We imagine she’ll be doing the meet & greet and signing thing, same as at Wizard World East here next month. She’ll likely be promoting her series, Tru Calling. But we’re sure she’ll be happy to meet J&SBSB fans, too.

  • It’s cool to see that Kevin’s such a regular on The Tonight Show now that Leno makes jokes at his expense during the program, when Kev’s not even there. This one was a comparsion photo between Kev and a Shiite cleric (adding in the turban, of course).
  • Beverly Cinemas in Champaign, Illinois will be showing Clerks as part of their Rerun Film Series tomorrow, April 10, at 11:00PM. Tickets are only $3.00.
  • And finally today, an aside for the curious Jersey Girl fans out there: Warner Home Video is releasing the original Broadway production of SWEENEY TODD, starring Angela Lansbury and George Hearn, on DVD April 20tg. JG fans who are just discovering this amazing musical may want to check out the whole thing and not just the “God, That’s Good” number. Gotta run, off to see KILL BILL 2 a week early! YES!

Commentary…

April 8th @ 11:52 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Just wanted to check in and say a few words, though we’ll have another pre-holiday update or two for you as well. As you can see, Jay & Bob have gotten into the holiday spirit as well up in the corner there, with thanks again to Matt Sullivan for another fun creation (lots more to come!).

There’s a lot of coolness abound lately, so it seemed appropriate to say a few words this evening. First off, anyone see that Spiderman 2 trailer that aired during The Apprentice tonight? WOW. Does that flick look killer or WHAT? By the time you’re reading this, the trailer’s probably making the internet rounds. WATCH IT. With Kill Bill 2 just a week away, commercials and trailers are popping up everywhere, but that’s something that we’re trying to avoid. No need to spoil a flick that’s so close. Early word has it as being amazing. Thank you, Quentin Tarantino, for making movies. And on the music side of things, if you want a rockin’ disc, check out “Get Born” from Jet. It’s been in the CD player for months and it’s tough to switch out. Just some good ‘ol fashioned rock music there. Great stuff.

So, we hope you’re enjoying the new site, and that your browsers have gotten used to the graphics, thus speeding up your load times and such. All the little bugs that were lurking about should be squashed, so you should be seeing the site as close to intentions at this point. If there’s anything majorly wrong, be sure to let us know. New features are being worked on and will arrive in the coming weeks.

Oh, and a quick word about the Hornet site — Yes, the stories are the same as the front page here. For now, the site will store only Hornet stories, but that doesn’t mean they won’t show up here on the front page as well. We’re sharing one big database for everything. As the film draws closer though, we’ll have a lot more exclusive material over there.

Alright, just one bit of news to share this evening, so let’s get to that…

Kevin NOT Coming To WizardWorld Philly…

April 8th @ 11:46 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Occasionally, we gotta bring some bad news up here at the site, and sadly this is one of those days. Unfortunately, due to an incredibly busy schedule, Kevin won’t be able to make a trip in for Wizard World Philadelphia this year. This isn’t a cancellation, mind you, he was never on the books, but many (including us) hoped he’d be back for another Q&A, signing, or the like.

Kevin’s been running around more these past couple months than he’s ever before, so we can certainly understand him lightening up the schedule a bit as he focuses on writing Green Hornet and finishing up some comic projects. We’re sure you’ll understand, as well. However, View Askew fanboys out there may be pleased to know that lovely J&SBSB vet Eliza Dushku will attend the event on Saturday. Fans of Kev’s Daredevil run can also catch Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti throughout the weekend.

That being said, we’re not sure if the View Askew booth will be set up with swag at the con this year or not, but once we get that info, we’ll be certain to let you know. We’d say it’s very likely, at which case we may pop back there for a day or two and help sell some swag to ya’ll. Hope to see you there.

We’ll be back with more news tomorrow.

Get Your Kevin/Mewes-Signed Swag Here!

April 7th @ 10:12 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Ming

  • Yet another reason why it’s good to have Mewes out of rehab – he’s around to sign stuff. Just released and now available at The Stash
are a few items signed by both KEVIN SMITH and JASON MEWES, yup, that’s right, Jay & Silent Bob themselves:
DOGMA GRID POSTERS

Now you too can own the poster which was most recently only given out to attendees of the “Dogma Diabetes Benefit Screening.” The Jay and Silent Bob Grid
Poster features a pair of unlikely Prophets who attempt to aid the Last Scion in saving all of existence.

This poster measures 20” x 13.5”

Signed by KEVIN SMITH and JASON MEWES. A bargain at only $12.00.

JAY & SILENT BOB – THE ASS POSTER

Jay’s ass has never been blown up this big… until now! This supposedly candid shot from the set of Clerks is now available as a full size poster! This black and white poster features the dynamic duo in front of their RST Video perch and depicts Jay with his pants pulled down to reveal the sweet crack of his ass. You know you want one! And we’re here to give it to you.

Signed by the two guys depicted here – Kevin Smith & Jason Mewes. $25.00.

BLUNTMAN & CHRONIC ACTION FIGURES

They stormed the box office this summer in ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’, and now they’ve set their sights on comic book stores! Bluntman and Chronic – the superhero secret identities of Jay and Silent Bob – are ready to set the collector’s market ablaze and give new meaning to the term “blunt”. Use ‘em in the privacy of your own home to recreate the thrilling adventures of the recent View Askew summer blockbuster, re-enact the hilarity of the best-selling Image graphic novel, or create your own, X rated adventures starring these crime-busting (and law-breaking) do(bage)-gooders and their faithful simian companion, Suzanne.

Based on model sheets by Michael Avon Oeming, each highly-detailed 8” tall figure is generously articulated and has been sculpted to create all of the details you expect. As with all Graphitti Designs products, we have gone the extra mile so that our figures will be the best around and will stand-out above the crowd.

  • Part 1 of Kevin’s interview did air on The Screensavers tonight, and the remainder is scheduled for their April 30th broadcast. We’d
also like to thank Patrick for the nice shout out to News Askew at the end of the piece. Yep, we’re publicity whores.
  • Mediasharx has a brief summary of Kevin’s recent Maryland appearance, and confirms that
Kevin did explain that while Clooney won’t be taking on the title role, they still are pursuing Jet Li for the role of Kato.
  • It wouldn’t be a day without Jersey Girl, would it? EnJ inc gives the film a 9/10, calling it
    “flat out excellent”.
  • Jay & Bob appear in inaction form on the cover of the Hero-Lix website today.
  • And finally today, we’d like to wish a very happy birthday to Jennifer Schwalbach Smith today, and many, many more. On all the occasions
we’ve had the pleasure of talking with her, she’s been absolutely wonderful and kind to us, indicative of the great catch Kev’s got for himself there.
    Happy Birthday, Jen!

ECU Appearance: Your Turn To Talk Back!

April 6th @ 10:00 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Dundada77, Rex Kramer

  • Kevin’s appearance at East Carolina was apparently a very interesting one, with some strange occurrences coming from those in attendance (stories are running rampant over at the WWWBoard). However, despite the weirdness, Kevin turned things around quite well, and handled all queries and questions in stride, chatting it up with the crowd there for over 5 hours. It seems that a lot of regulars from the site and the board were in the audience, but a lot of questions came from, well, for the lack for a better word, whackos!

Feel free to stop by the WWWBoard or weigh in with your thoughts on the night.

Signed “Jersey Girl” Fire Helmet For Auction!

April 6th @ 9:42 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Joe Mccarron

  • That fire helmet we mentioned a couple of weeks ago? It can NOW be yours! This is definitely the coolest piece of Jersey Girl memorabilia
we’ve seen so far, a cast-autographed fire helmet, being auctioned by the Paulsboro Fire Department, with all proceeds going TO the department, for the
purchase of new life-saving equipment. So, not only do you own this one-of-a-kind item, signed by EVERYONE (including even Ben and Jen themselves, on
the bottom), but your cash could help save lives.

Ebay has the price at $350.00 at presstime, we’re sure that the item’s going to
go higher, but recommend you get your bids in and mark your territory if you want this. Bidding ends in a week. Good luck, and if you snag it, let us
know. We’d love for a true fan to own this item.
