• Here are some fresh pictures taken last evening at the Netflix Rolling Roadshow screening of CLERKS. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect night, clear skies and a cool breeze. Over 2000 fans enjoyed one of the liveliest Q&A sessions in recent memory, even one fan was there in a full Stormtrooper uniform! I’d like to give some special thanks to all-round good guy Ming Chen. He got us into the gated off area when there seemed like no hope. If you live anywhere close to any remaining Netflix Rolling Roadshow events, you owe it to yourself to catch one. It was a blast! Here’s Kevin’s wrap-up of this awesome event…

• Kevin said that over 2,000 people showed up at the Stash for the big signing event last night in Red Bank, New Jersey, which ran for13 hours until every last person in line got their photo and/or autograph (ending at 4 AM). That means that at LEAST that many (but probably many many more) will be showing up at Red Bank’s waterfront tonight to see Clerks project in open air, on the big screen. We’ll be there covering the event, so expect a full report on the site this week.

If you’re anywhere near the northeast, this is a BIG event — The first-ever screening of its type for Clerks. Kevin and cast/crew will be on hand for a Q&A prior to the event (and likely available to meet and greet throughout the evening). Then, when the sun sets, Clerks will show for the biggest outdoor crowd ever! Bring chairs, munchies, and a bunch of pals – It’s going to be a great night with absolutely perfect weather for a screening. Thanks to Netflix for bringing the Rolling Roadshow to New Jersey.

Again, we apologize for the site being updateless lately — Our email has totally been offline for the past two days, due to some configuration error with News Askew. We are waiting for a fix, and hope at that point that the email sent to us in the past couple days will catch up with us. If your scoop didn’t get through, please send it again once we get this fixed.

• We’re looking into this one as we speak, though it seems Kevin dropped a big scoop at a weekend Q&A session — His next flick will be a HORROR film! We’d expected a non Askewniverse romantic comedy, from earlier reports, though this may have changed. As soon as we get ANY more details, and can confirm (or deny) this, we’ll let you know. Certainly a very interesting and exciting development if it holds true. It’ll definitely represent a new venture and direction for Kevin, and we’re of course excited to see where he goes with it (let’s hope scary and violent as all get-out!). More on this soon!

• Tickets for the Clerks II Premiere for Melbourne and Sydney are now available via this link.

For the next 12 hours (Australian time), you will need to use the password “silentbob” to get in on the presale. Tickets for the rest of folks who don’t know the password won’t go up for sale until 9am Australian time, so if you wanted in, here you go, News Askew readers! Don’t say we never did anything for ya. • For the first time ever, Comic Book Resources have presented a full length Q&A session from the San Diego con on their website — And wouldn’t luck have it, it’s the complete Q&A from Kevin last weekend! Kevin was sadly delayed due to traffic, so the panel was pushed back to later in the day. So, if some of you missed it due to the scheduling change, or just weren’t there, here’s your chance to watch Kevin amuse the crowd as he takes on a variety of questions, both smart and really, really stupid.

As you can see from the uncut video, these things are always full of fun and surprises. Watch our upcoming events page for your own chance to catch Kevin live, and GO. You’ll have a blast. And of course, watch for Evening 2: Evening Harder on DVD this Fall.

• The wonderful Rosario Dawson fills in for Kevin at ComicCon during his delay, sweetheart that she is. YouTube’s got the video, around ten minutes or so. A story above features the complete Kevin panel which happened later in the day.
• Comic Book Resources recaps Kevin’s Wizard World Chicago panel from this weekend with a nice summary. Here’s a preview:

• Ethan Suplee has joined the cast of NBC’s “The Year Without a Santa Claus,” which stars John Goodman, Delta Burke, Chris Kattan, Harvey Fierstein, Michael McKean Eddie Griffin and Carol Kane. The two-hour movie, based on the 1974 Rankin-Bass perennial that featured stop-motion animation, will air during the upcoming 2006 holiday season.
• Amazon now confirms that a new book IS coming next year: “In-Convenience: The View Askewniverse From Clerks To Clerks II” collects all of the Kevin Smith film scripts for the first time ever, together with numerous photos. We’ll have a great deal on signed copies from the Stash when this arrives next year, and let you know when they’re ready for pre-order from us.
• We’ve broke into a new magazine — From the August 7, 2006 issue of Business Week, this blurb appears:

• Prepare to want something — These Clerks posters were created exclusively for the Netflix Rolling Roadshow of the film next week. They are VERY limited and VERY cool. The pre-orders have sold out, though we hear a select couple will be available at the show — If anyone knows how we might snag ourselves a couple, LET US KNOW. We’d love that. Check out the Clerks posters above, and BigDave’s post for all the other variants for the other roadshow flicks, cool in their own right, created by famous rock poster arists.

• You can now purchase tickets online for Kevin’s previously announced appearance in Orlando, Florida. It’s not often Kevin gets to that part of the country, so if you’re in the area, we highly recommend buying yourself a seat. Tickets are $35 for the September 23rd afternoon show.

A press release states that Clerks will show at 10 AM, followed by a Kevin Q&A starting at 2. They claim the Q&A will go to at least 4, but will allow him extra hours if needed. This could be a marathon, folks, don’t miss it!

• We’re pleased to announce that there WILL be Red Carpet premieres for Clerks II in both Sydney and Melbourne Australia and fans can buy tickets! The two events are listed and for sale at the following locations:

Tickets for this event will go on sale via Ticketmaster at 9am this Monday morning (August 7th). $35 gets you into the movie and the Q&A. The full details on how to buy a ticket will be announced shortly as well. Kevin will be conducting Q&A’s after both screenings. This will be a can’t-miss event for all you Australians.
