• Just a few quickies this weekend…

• A TON of new stills from Vanilla Sky have been posted, many of them featuring Lee. We’ve posted those here. You can view them ALL at More Magazine’s website. The flick’s looking more and more like “Open Your Eyes” all the time, should still be fun though, especially for those who haven’t caught the original.

• Here’s some fan artwork of Tenacious D’s JB and KG portraying Jay & Silent Bob.

• And finally today, some UK news: Front Magazine gave J&SBSB their film of the month column. If someone’s got a transcript, send it on. Finally, Odeon cinemas are giving away tons of buy-one-get-one-free tickets for the flick. Check out the scan above.

• Mysterio brings us more scans from the UK, this time, from Hot Dog Magazine’s latest issue. Included is a great review for J&SBSB and a profile on Mark Hamill. As always, click the above scans for a closer look at all this material.

• Brian O’Halloran appeared on a Canadian show called THE CHAT Room on TalkTV as well as Local Cable 10. He was there to promote his new flick, “Drop Dead Roses”. The flick is about a service that provides people to do undesireable personal tasks, such as break up with girlfriends/boyfriends, fire employees, etc. Sounds fun. DDR is screening at Bloor Cinema in Canada this Saturday at 3:30 PM. A Q&A with the Brian and the flick’s director will follow! Be at the box office by 2:30 to get tix!

• Brian Lynch hooked us up with a one sheet for the new Monkey Man project…It’s some damn slick work. Click it!
• And finally, if you’re into this sort of thing, a DJ set at the Groovetech website featured a tune which mixed in Randal’s famous porn-ordering phone call from Clerks. Check out that show HERE.

• Ben Affleck’s in the news a bit today…His “Sum Of All Fears” flick is reviewed today over at AICN, with some positive reviews – Check those out HERE. Affleck also was the “butt” of a joke on last night’s new “South Park” on Comedy Central. CC re-airs the episodes on Saturday nights, so catch it then if ya missed it. The show continues to push the envelope. Affleck was also recently named one of the “Top Men of the Year” in GQ Magazine.
• E-zine Rockerchick recently ran this article, submitted by a self-described ‘openly out gay male’ who went to see JSBSB with the GLAAD list of grievances in hand. He concludes with “I can recommend the movie to Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, and Transgendered people with little reservation.”
• With Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back finished in their major run in theatres, only art houses are left playing them. In Toronto, possibly the last time to see the movie on the big screen will be at The Revue (400 Roncesvalle Ave) on Nov. 18 – 20 and lastly at The Music Hall (147 Daneforth Ave) on Nov.21-22. Check your local theaters and catch the flick again before it’s gone!

• More Sims skins have been spotted for Bluntman & Chronic, courtesy of “8th Deadly Sim”. Check out shots of these dudes above. Some nice work.
• A great new interview with comic writer Brian Michael Bendis and Clerks artist Jim Mahfood. Check it out at Popcultureshock.com.
• A still from “Chasing Amy” is up at FilmWise as a piece for their new Invisibles game (entitled “active”).
• The University Of Virginia’s got a ton of J&SSB screenings slated in December, along with some bonus chances at Mallrats on the big screen! Here’s the info:

• And last, but not least today, the American Film Institute is doing another top 100 list, this time for love stories. Chasing Amy is among 400 nominees for the 100 best. Hopefully it’ll make the cut! Thanks to E! Online for the story.

• We’re happy to present you this exclusive accoucement from Kevin on his January appearances. Keep in mind these are TENTATIVE, but likely to happen. Those of you who haven’t been in the area for the previous shows might be able to make it to some of these, as they’re in some new areas, especially that Kentucky one! Here’s a full summary of what’s on the slate:

• The New Jersey State Film Festival happens this weekend, and naturally, they’re showing three of Kevin’s films (Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy), the NYC short, and Scott Kramer’s tribute short “Chasing Kevin”. Check their website for details on shows and showtimes.
• Speaking of “Chasing Kevin”, all four of the “Employees” scenes (from within that film) are now online at the Too Many Nicknames website toomanynicknames.com.
• Dark Horizons has confimred the rumor we’d heard about Jay & Silent Bob’s Australian release – The date has been slightly moved up to January 31, 2002!
• Rexmag.com did a recap of Kevin Smith’s talk from the other night at Kent State University. The direct article can be found HERE.
• The Vic Theater in Chicago is doing a brew and view of Jay and Silent Bob Strick Back and Chasing Amy through Thursday. Show times are 9:00 for J&SBSB and 10:00 for Chasing Amy (On Wed. only J&SBSB is showing at 8:00). The website can be found HERE.
• More screening opportunities: UK cinema chain Odeon will show Chasing Amy on the big screen on Wednesday, November 21st at three locations around the country – The screening details are as follows:

• Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back will be showing as part of the “Birmingham Film Festival” in England. You can catch it at the “Screen Extreme” part of the festival, a week before the official release date, on November 23rd and 8:00 PM. Tickets are £4.50 (£3.50 concs). The screening will take place at Odeon Cinema, New Street, Birmingham. Surf HERE for more info!

• We are happy to announce that Kevin’s college Q&A appearances have been such a huge success, that more dates are being added to the circuit as we speak: We are now happy to confirm that Kevin is appearing at Syracuse on Tuesday, November 27, and the University of Wyoming (Laramie) on Saturday, December 1st along WITH Jason Mewes! The latter will also be hosting a weeklong film festival of Kevin’s work. Here’s the FULL information on the Wyoming appearance, for which tickets are now on sale:

• An interesting scan today from Autograph Collector magazine, which summarizes the scene outside of the Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back premiere in Los Angeles which we attended back in August. The magazine focuses on who was and wasn’t signing autographs outside the theater. In summary, both Kevin and Jay were happy to sign, along with Mark Hamill, yet NONE of the American Pie cast members obliged fans. Take THAT!
• Congratulations to J&SBSB composer Jim Venable, who just won an Annie Award for Outstanding Individual Acheivement for Music for an Animated Series – The Powerpuff Girls. Way to go, Jim!
• An interview with Kevin has been posted on UK’s Appolo Cinema’s website to promote J&SBS’s release.
• Finally today, a couple screenings – Clerks will be shown at the University of Delaware in Trabant Theater on Wednesday, November 14th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $1 with student ID. The film will also be screened at UC Davis Campus Cinema on Saturday, November 17th at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. The location is Chem 194, admission is $3. Their campus cinema site is located HERE.

• Hi there folks, we’re back again after the busy weekend – No day off due to the Veterans Day holiday here! Sounds like a lot of you spent your Saturday dialing the View Askew offices, as day two of those Vulgarthon tickets sold out just about as fast as day one. Wow. Certainly a TON of demand for these events. We’ll be gearing up coverage for those events in the coming weeks, and hope to run a few events of our own as we lead into the big show. News on other stuff has been coming in much smaller doses, with the bulk of it focusing on Jay & Bob’s overseas release, especially in the UK. Look for more news on that below.

A couple of unrelated requests – First of all, I’m thinking of switching from a DSL to a cable line here for internet access, but I’m concerned about losing newsgroups. If anyone here has access to one of those top secret, fast and FREE binary news servers, drop me a line. I know there’s some you can pay for as well but if I have to do that, I’ll likely stick with the slower DSL line.

And finally, if the guy I talked to a while back who works for the Hoyts theaters is reading this, drop me a line. Alright, let’s see what’s going on today:

• We have just received a report that Kevin has added an appearance scheduled for Tuesday, November 27th, at Syracuse University. We are working to confirm this and find more details as we speak. Watch for more news on that soon.

• More UK press! These scans come from Empire Magazine’s December issue. The magazine gives the flick a mixed, mostly positive review, and ran a huge multi-page piece on the film itself. Way too much to key in here, but we’ve got the scans, so be sure and click them if you’d like to read the article and check out the layout, sidebars, etc. Enjoy.
• The latest Previews includes that new C.L.I.T. shirt and some other new items from View Askew and Graphitti:

• The “Cathlolicism Wow” White T-shirt
• A “Sunday Yeah” black T-shirt
• A special issue called “Wizard Edge”, which will feature Jay & Bob on the cover

• Jay & Silent Bob has been officially pushed back to a March 2002 release in New Zealand. The flick had been set for release this Friday. This mirrors the unfortunate Australia delays.
• And finally today, we’ve been receiving many reports of the View Askew spottings in “Shallow Hal”, which hit theaters this weekend. During the closing credits, there’s a shot of a dude with REALLY big hair wearing a View Askew t-shirt. Jack Black’s character also refers to a couple of characters in the film as “Mallrats”.
