Kevin Smith mentioned on Howard Stern

July 14th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • On today’s Howard Stern radio program, Robin brought up the fact that she saw “Chasing Amy” and loved it… Howard interrupted saying that Kevin had sent him a cassette of the movie and he watched it for 5 minutes, then threw it in the garbage. Some people are so spoiled! Anyway, Robin told him he needed to give it another chance, so he’s going to try and dig it out of the garbage can.

Anyway, Howard then proceeded to say he had to give “a shout out” to Kevin for sending him the original Superman script. Apparently, he liked it a lot. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE SEND ME THIS SCRIPT!!?!?! I won’t share it with anyone. Scout’s honor.

  • People Online‘s got more on Ben…In the form of a fairly in-depth online article. It refers to the Details article many times, mentions Dogma (including a quote from Chris Rock) and of course brings Matt in the picture a few times. Read it all right HERE
  • Matt Damon and Edward Norton appeared on ESPN‘s broadcast of “The World Series of Poker” Saturday night, where they played the game with the world’s best. The announcers said that Damon held his own against a past world champion. In addition to his writing and acting talents, we suppose you can add “poker player” to the repertoire.

View Askew Site Is Back! (Well, sorta)…

July 14th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Well, http://www.viewaskew.com is back today…sorta. Maybe they just took the site down for a while so they could start getting rid of all traces of Joey…who knows? But anyway, looks like everything is intact EXCEPT for the WWWBoard, which is quite unfortunate. Hope to see it back soon and in one piece. We’ll keep you informed.

Drinks Askew Logo Entries…

July 13th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • The logo entries continue to come in from our Drinks Askew logo plea. Ralph the action figure guy sent us this hilarious little piece which was a little to large to use, but we had to share it with you anyway because it’s friggin’ funny. If you can’t make out the text, the skeleton is saying “Welcome to Drinks Askew, Mr. Svenning.” If you missed the joke, check out the special cases on our Mallrats drinking page.

Where’s ViewAskew.Com?

July 13th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Actually, we don’t know!!! Sometime yesterday, http://www.viewaskew.com dropped off the face of the internet. If anyone knows why the site isn’t responding or if they notice the site has come back up, could you please let us know? We’ll post any information on the status of the site here as soon as we know it.

Final Logo Details…

July 11th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Okay, we’ve finally actually had some time to sit down and discuss some particulars about what we’d like to see in a logo for this page. Quite a few of you have written saying that you’d like to help, but have no idea where to start. Here’s what we’ve come up with:
  • The logo graphic should contain the words “Drinks Askew” (We may also decide to use the words “News Askew” in a separate, smaller logo for the news section, but we’d like to keep “Drinks “Askew” as the main title).
  • The logo graphic should come in around the following size: 535 x 94. This will end up around the same size as the yellow Drinks Askew text you see at the top of the page now, except a little wider.
  • We’d like for you to somehow incorporate caricatures of Jay and Silent Bob, if possible. We think graphics look better in a logo than actual real-life captures.
  • Keep in mind this graphic will be on a BLACK background.

E-Mail us if you have any more questions, and send us as many entires as you’d like. Thanks for all your offers to help!

Fresh Start On Askew Logo Contest

July 10th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • I just realized that for first timers reading this page, this logo deal may be a bit confusing. If you notice, further down in the news there’s mention of a logo contest that we were planning to hold back in May at the site’s kickoff. This never really came to light. Now, due to our new news section as well as the drinking games, we’re going to need a differentlogo anyway. So, for those of you just joining us that would like to take a stab at a logo, take your time. We’re just getting underway here. Good luck, and thanks!

Bluntman & Chronic Action Figures!

July 9th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Check this page out from Mike and Ralph who made some super-cool Bluntman & Chronic action figures. If you want some, you’re out of luck, they’re one of a kind, and I doubt Kev wants to share ‘em with ya. You can also read about their meeting with Kev himself, on their page A Clerks Tour. Unlike most of the other Clerks/Askew pages out there, this page actually has a lot of neat original material, including diaries of trips to some of the Red Bank locales as well as the story behind the figures.

The Dirt On Dogma…

July 9th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

Smalls posted this info on Smith’s upcoming 4th film, “Dogma”, on the Askew web board today:

Lotsa rumours… I’ll see how much I can help…

Filming in possibly February. Toronto’s been tossed out as the filming area but I hear that’s looking less likely but still in possibility.

Cast will most likely include at least Affleck, Smith, Mewes, Suplee, Ewell… perhaps O’Halloran and Anderson…definitely not Lee or Adams…Kevin has mentioned Carlin as a possibility but isn’t confirmed… and then there’s a LOT of rumours floating around for theother parts but it’d be irresponsible to extrapolate from the scant hints we’ve gotten, thisearly into the process.

There’ll be a novelization of it coming out substantially before the film.

But according to Kevin, when that information does go public, we’ll be amoungst the very first to hear it.

Also, some of the extra recruitment might be done through this board.
