A New Look, A New Philosophy: Announcing News Askew!!!

July 7th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

Okay, so we slacked off a little…All right, we admit it. We slacked off a LOT. The important part is, we’re BACK! Back and ready. As promised, we’re now going to do our best to make this site THE View Askew news authority. We’ll try our best to keep up with the Message Boards, but we can’t do it all alone! That’s where YOU come in. Please feel free to send any newsbits you come across to brad@newsaskew.com. If all goes well, you should be able to come here on a daily basis for a quick read to find out all that’s going on with Kevin Smith and the gang.

What’s happened with us? Here’s a rundown of the past month and a half:

  • When we last left off, we were about to take a trip into The Stash. It was around a 3 hour drive from our place here in Central PA. Found Red Bank without a problem. It was pretty cool driving around the hometown of the Askew team. The Stash is easy to spot once you get on the block. The giant Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash sticker covering the window is a dead giveaway. We browsed around, looked at all the cool original Bluntman & Chronic and Mallrats comic book artwork on the walls, took a gander at some of the swag, and went on our merry way. We were hoping to place an order for some signed Amy posters, alas, we discovered they were gone as well as out of print (We’ve since lucked upon original Chasing Amy AND Clerks posters, thankfully!).
  • The drinking games for Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy are still here and will ALWAYS remain here. Thanks to everyone for your continued support through your e-mails and your suggestions. You’ve been helping us make the games better, and we appreciate it. Keep the feedback coming. All e-mails and suggestions are read and will be responded to personally and promptly.
  • We STILL need a logo! SOMEONE out there must be an artist. Have you LOOKED at that ugly News Askew TEXT at the top of our page?!?! Help us get rid of it and see your work come to life on our page! What we’d like is a logo with some nice graphics that says either “News Askew”, “Drinks Askew”, or combines the both of them in some creative way. The best one will become our official logo and be seen by all of the Askewers who visit the news page. Oh, and you’ll get all the credit, don’t worry…Send your submissions to brad@newsaskew.com.
  • Anyway, if you don’t already, read the View Askew Web Board, and come back often for all the latest Askew news served up for ya right here in a nice small package.

Rules & Bug Fixes

May 2nd, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

We’ve added a new rule as suggested by Travis Wilson as well as some minor visual and technical enhancements to make the page look better. Thanks also to Adam Kraemer for the suggestion.

Well, unless the weather’s as bad as they say it’s gonna be (which rarely happens), we’re off on a 3 hour trip from our Central PA locale to Red Bank, to visit the Stash and, if we can find it and feel geeky enough, drive to Leonardo and check out Quick Stop and RST. Maybe we’ll run into some askewers or something in the process. We’ll have a full report tomorrow.

Logo “Contest” Details

May 1st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

I’ve seen a few posts lurking around asking questions about the logo. Basically, as you cansee, the top of this page has a state-of-the-art, ultra tacky, big-ass-yellow-lettered texttitle. We’d sure like to change that. So, we’re asking you, true believer, to take a stab atdesigning us a “Drinks Askew” logo! Pretty much anything goes here, as long as the words”Drinks Askew” are somehow located in the graphic, feel free to do whatever the hell you want.Go crazy with it! Just keep in mind that the graphic will go in place of the “Drinks Askew” text above, on a black background.

The prize? Fame and fortune, my friend. Your name in lights (or text anyway) right on thishere soon-to-be-famous web page. Sorry I can’t offer more incentive, but we’re in debt here asit is. Enter as many logos as you want. I’m looking at an entry deadline of the end ofMay right now. Good luck! And thanks to everyone who participates, in advance!

Click HERE to mail in your entry!

EDITOR’S NOTE: CONTEST PARTICULARS HAVE CHANGED. SEE JULY 10th’s NEWS FOR DETAILS.

News & Updates Section Added!

May 1st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

Obviously, if you’re reading this section, you realize that it’s here. But we’re telling you about it anyway. This will be the place to look for page update information as well as (hopefully, if we can keep up with all the hype) the latest in the View-Askewniverse! So stay tuned, and drop by often! All these announcements will also be made by Chris or myself under the guise “Brad ‘N Chris” or “Drinks Askew Your Hosts” (depending on what kinda mood we’re in). I’ll check the WWW board on http://www.viewaskew.com often as well, to answer your questions and comments.

New Rules And Enhancements

May 1st, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

Thanks to Sean, Tim Goulah, and Brian Tague for their rule suggestions. They’ve been added to the page and the games have all been updated to versions 1.1. Keep ’em comin’! Of course, we can’t promise we’ll accept each and every rule, but if it’s a good one,how can we refuse?

The pages have also undergone some formatting changes to help them look nicer in smaller windows and “foreign” browsers. Let us know if you find any bugs or cosmetic faults!

Why The Hell Did We Do This?

April 30th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

Good question. In a way, it’s a tribute to Kevin Smith and the films themselves. But it’salso a helluva lotta fun. In fact, once Amy’s out on video, you can make a party out of it and play the trilogy. We’re just getting started here, so don’t mind the general mess and unprofessionalism. Things are always changing, so visit often!

How Does It All Work?

Use the links on the side or the links at the bottom (for the graphically challenged) to get to the rules for the corresponding movie. Easy, huh?
