- Well, the silence has been broken, at least somewhat. VulgarThon ’98 (previously known as “Five Flicks For Forty Bucks”, and, before that, simply “The Gala”), was discussed on the board in a recent post from Kevin. Here’s the text:
The Vulgar-thon is limited to 270 seats, folks, and unlike the ‘Amy’ gala we had months back, this is not limited to heavy posters or even board voyeurs.
The tix are going to be on sale for forty eight hours only, to be purchased via a hotline number (which means credit card payments only – no exceptions). There aren’t going to be any tickets – there will be t-shirts you’ll receive that act as your pass instead (a t-shirt that’s limited to this event only, so it’s also what the anal retentive refer to as a limited edition collector’s item). We’re looking at a first call/first serve system here, so please – no hurt feelings or complaints if you don’t get any tix.
It’s a pretty packed day (with Q&A between each flick, and an hour dinner break around four or five), so be prepared to sit for a loooooooong time.
We’ll be announcing when to call by mid-month, via a page dedicated to the event.
There seems to be some concern about getting tickets. Most likely, tickets will be limited to 2 or 3 per person, at least this is what we’re assuming. That’ll keep folks from snatching them all up, at least at the beginning. I’m sure that you’ll get tix as long as you’re not out of town that week and check our site and the boards daily.
