• Wow, 400,000. Just say it. What a number! We never thought we’d even come close to 100,000 when this site began, let alone 4 times that many. So, 14 months into this, here we are…And still going strong. Sure, news has been light lately, but with all of Kevin’s comic projects, appearances, and, of course, Dogma on the horizon, it’s sure to be an exciting time in the View Askew world, so we’re proud to be, in some twisted way, a part of it. Thanks to all of you for helping to keep us around…Your news stories, comments, and faithfulness have been a big part of what makes the site what it is. We appreciate it!

The next BIG milestone for us will be 500,000. Of course, at the date we go, that will probably take another few months at least to hit, but we’re hoping to have some way to celebrate it, maybe even a prize or two to shoot off to the lucky hitter…Details will appear as the big number draws closer.

• Rumors abound of the Jay & Silent Bob clips and Secret Stash Special airing on MTV again! Check your listings tosee if you can catch them, or just turn on the channel, and hope you get lucky. By the way, speaking of MTV, anyone see that guy slap that chick on Real World last week? That was NASTY! Anyway, MTV’s also got their Weird Ass Cartoons Weekend (the sequel) happening this weekend, which may explain the Jay & Bob short that’s being shown a LOT. • Brian Lynch resurfaced from wherever he hides when he goes off into the void for months on end, with some news on the status of “Big Helium Dog”, and the revelation that BHD 2, yes the SEQUEL, already exists in a first draft! Here’s the man himself:

The guy cracks us up. And with e-mail like that, you KNOW that BHD (and all the subsequent films) have gotta be absolute laugh riots! We’ll keep up with all the BHD news as the flick draws closer to a release.

As always, a new poll topic has been posted for the new week…Results from last week show that an overwhelming amount of you would still like to see “Dogma” pics on the page (if we get any more)…So, even though we’re not going to please all the people all the time (studios included), if we get them, you can expect to see some more advanced shots from the flick here (within reason, of course). Vote for your favorite Smith comic this week, and let your voice be heard!

• The Entertainment Weekly with our site reviewed hits newsstands tomorrow – Remember, the review is on page 22 of the INTERNET SUPPLEMENT, not the issue itself. You can also read the review online at their site HERE.
• A letter from a News Askew reader to the national college magazine, U! Online, got published. It’s a bit dated, since it regards the similarities between “Chasing Amy” and “Object of My Affection”, but still nice to see the press:

• Janeane Garofalo, who talked very positively about “Chasing Amy” and is featured in an early scene in “Dogma”, turns 34 tomorrow. Happy Birthday!

• Sorry for the late update this weekend, but we were out of town…In fact, we spent some time in Red Bank today, chatting with Kevin and Bryan at the Stash for a while (a booming business they’re doing there, for sure, lots of folks coming and going), then went up to the offices to catch the “Dogma” trailer and shoot the breeze some more. The trailer is fantastic – It summarizes the general plot of the flick then goes on to give quick flashes of a bunch of the action sequences that take place in the flick. It doesn’t ruin a thing about the movie, and it really makes the viewer want to see more. Good stuff.

Kevin confirmed that Fletch 3 is indeed a dead project, and that the long-ago rumors of Jay’s death at the end of “Dogma” are GREATLY exaggerated…Really, they are. Speaking of “Dogma”, it’s running a little under 3 hours, which means they’ve met their contractual obligation to the ‘Max, but they’re probably gonna still try and trim it down to 2:45 before the first screening for the gang.

By the way, Kevin was signing a bunch of Daredevil books at the Stash while we were there…We’re not sure if you’ll need to stop by in person to get one or of the price, but expect them to at least somehow be available soon.

• We’re very pleased to announce that not only did the national weekly magazine “Entertainment Weekly” (to which we are proud subscribers, we might add) give us a mention, but they gave us an “A” grade to boot! In the latest issue, dated October 2, 1998, with Laryn Hill on the cover, News Askew was reviewed in the “Gossip” websites (page 22 of their new EW Internet section), with the following text:

• Kevin stopped by the web board and answered some posts last night: The only really big news was his summary of his Space Ghost taping, and the possibility of a Bartelby and Loki Presige Format One-shot discussing their fall from grace. Should be a neat book if it comes to light! We’ll stay on top of it for ya…
• Apparently, our story on Renée Humphrey caused some scoopers to do some digging: We now hear she’s got a movie called “Lover Girl” coming out on video October 20th.
• Finally today, anyone else notice that according to Starr’s report, Monica visited the White House 37 TIMES???? 37!?!?!? Makes ya think.

• Who would’ve thought that through all the Clinton controversy here in the States that someone would draw a parallel between one of Kev’s flicks? Check this out. The Washington Times newspaper publishes a weekly magazine called “Insight.” In the October 12 issue, which came out last weekend (even though it’s still September), page 4 carries a short item entitled “Defining Sex”:
