  • Yup…It’s becoming quite popular to create “Dogma” teaser posters now, it seems! Here’s another. Click on the thumb for a slightly larger version.
  • Janeane Garofalo has “Dogma” listed in her filmography on the just released “Permanent Midnight” DVD. Cool.
  • We’d like to take the opportunity to give a little plug to a couple of good independent film websites out there: First of all, there’s Film-411, a new website with discussion groups, articles, reviews, and lots more from folks that really love (and are involved in) the business. Definitely worth a stop. Also, there’s indyarts.com, an on-line art and music magazine for the New Jersey area, covering Visual Arts, Music, Independent Film and video. They’ve just posted their first online issue. We normally do stick to only mentioning View Askew related sites out there on the web, but it’s important that independent film continues to get its support…We’re just doing our part to make that possible.
  • Salma Hayek Speaks About Dogma…

    March 1st @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Vishal Sharma

  • Seems Salma Hayek is a bit worried about some of Dogma’s cuts…And rightfully so, as well. We wouldn’t be surprised if quite a bit of her dialogue’s been cut from the film from what she’s saying here, though it’s a bit cryptic:
Even a vaguely sexless film like Fools Rush In did her a lot of good, she thinks, because of the number of people who watched it on video. “Girls of 13 loved it, don’t ask me why.” [Hayek]

These are presumably a million miles from the fan base who will flock to see her in Kevin Smith’s Dogma (even if the eye candy of Affleck and Damon are in the line-up).

“It is completely unconventional and so is Kevin. He leads an eccentric life,” says Hayek. “But I’m afraid some of the great lines are being taken out in the editing because when they tested it, people thought there were too many words. People want the action.” [Empire Movie Magazine]

Interesting, indeed. Maybe Salma knows something we don’t, ‘eh?

  • NEWS ASKEW LIVE CHAT THIS TUESDAY, MARCH 2

    March 1st @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Yes, folks, you read it right. We’ll both be online this Tuesday, March 2nd, at 9 PM eastern time (do the math if you live elsewhere) for an online News Askew/View Askew chat!

ALL are welcome. And it’s easy to connect. Just point your IRC client to server irc.novatech.net:7000, channel #newsaskew, or access the chat directly through your java-enabled web browser. We’ll have full details on how to do that the day of the event.

We figure this will be a nice opportunity for us to sit down for an hour or so and chat about the upcoming Stash Gala, Dogma, DVD, and whatever else might be on your mind. We stress however this is NOT a chat only for folks attending the gala, though it will likely be a hot topic of discussion since we’ll want to know how many of you are gonna be buying us drinks! 🙂

Oh, and, if you need extra incentive to show up, one of you lucky chatters will receive, via a random drawing, a copy of Oni Double Feature Issue 1, the first comic to feature a fully Jay & Silent Bob story, personally autographed by Kevin Smith, Jay Mewes, and Walt Flanagan. Look forward to seeing you all there!
