• Just wanted to check and make sure you’re not having any glitches with this site or the Scooping The Monkey area. We’re working on some additions over there, so watch for it. In the meantime, if you’re having any technical problems with the site being slow, talkbacks not loading, or strange behavior on the Scooping The Monkey site, be sure and post about it here in the Talkbacks. We’ll see what we can do to fix it. If you’re having a problem, be sure to post your PC and operating system type along with the browser you’re using. Just doing our part to keep the site in tiptop shape for ya. Often a problem is localized to just one machine which makes it hard to tackle, but if there’s any common trouble going on, we’d like to get it fixed up for ya.

By the way, we saw the IMDB report of Kev’s words against Premiere Magazine…We aren’t running their story again because we ran it last week in the news. It’s all the same stuff.

• Here’s a BIG scoop from the UK Internation Toyfair, weeks before things debut in New York City at their own Fair in a couple of weeks.

The folks at DIAMOND have information sheets on new original toys from View Askew! The sheets feature the Vulgar the clown logo and the following information:

Okay, sure, the sheets are vague and don’t provide details, but it certainly sounds like we’ll be seeing not only 2 new Jay and Bob figs, but more! We hope to have more info on exactly which characters will get the action figure treatment and all the extra goodies that come along with them. Stay tuned!

• At 4 Color Review there’s yet another very postive review of the preview edition of Green Arrow #1. Be forewarned, it DOES contain spoilers, but also a good amount of black and white preview art. Check it out, and remember to reserve your copy, arriving next month!
• Jason Biggs will appear today on MTV’s Total Request Live to promote his new flick, “Saving Silverman”. Maybe he’ll mention Jay & Bob, too? Also, watch tonight’s Daily Show with John Stewart on Comedy Central, as James Van Der Beek is the guest. Those of you who read the spoilers on J&SBSB know the roles these two will be playing in the film. The Daily Show airs at 11 PM EST and again tomorrow at 10 AM and 7 PM EST.
• ViewAskew.com and Lee World have started a new Jason Lee chat area that can be located through the web HERE. Stop in and chat with fellow fans!
• The Screen Actors Guild have nominated the cast of “Almost Famous” (including Lee, of course) for ‘Outstanding Perfomance by the Cast of a Theatrical Motion Picture’. Congrats again to the cast of that wonderful picture.

• Things have been surprisingly quiet, though we assume filming still continues to go well. Likely there’s been some more quiet days on the set after all the excitement last week. Expect the bulk of the news to be relating to J&SBSB, and keep checking Scooping The Monkey for exclusive pics, set reports, updated cast info, and more. We’re still waiting for 4 DVDs to arrive in the View Askew realm: The Clerks cartoon, Dogma SE, A Better Place, and Drawing Flies. Plus we’ve got the upcoming Green Arrow books and the Bluntman & Chronic books that will tie in to the new flick. So, while it may seem like a lot of the site’s focused on the movie, we’ll do our best to keep it varied.

Anyone watching Survivor? So what’s the word so far? Seems like more of the same. TV’s being taken over by reality shows, and frankly, while they’re fun, there’s just too damn many of them. With February sweeps coming up, there’s going to be way too many excuses to sit lazily in front of the TV set. Hurry up, Spring! What else is everyone watching on TV lately? Anyway, let’s see what’s new today, though it’s another fairly short update:

• Mysterio continues his extensive on-set reports from Los Angeles today with a new edition of his column that covers the on-set happenings at “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back”. His report rivals our own On Location reports in size, so grab a drink or a sandwich or something and settle in before you start on this one. The most interesting revelations of this week involve the fact that Kevin and Scott are filming alternate takes of scenes to make them TV-friendly, as Miramax feels the film will play well and be easy to sell to a network if there’s a clean version available. Must be very difficult for Kevin to have to write and manage 2 scripts and 2 versions of the film right off the bat, especially considering the amount of colorful dialogue we’ve heard that’s in this one.

• We mentioned George Carlin’s New York appearance coming up yesterday, but here’s an even better one! Mr. Carlin is performing in Red Bank on February 11th at the Count Basie Theater. There’s probably even a better chance of George talking about the new flick, as he recently did a day of filming on the set of Jay & Bob. If there’s tickets left, check out the show and send in any info you might find!
• Kevin’s name gets a mention in a Yahoo article discussing the whole “A Film By…” credit before or after a feature that has people debating. Kevin of course doesn’t like the idea, as he feels a lot more folks than the director deserve credit for the finished product.

• On February 8th, George Carlin will be performing at the Sheas in Buffalo, New York. We doubt he’ll mention anything about Jay & Bob, but ya never know. Either way, Carlin’s performances are always a blast, so if you’re in the area and looking for a fun night out and tickets are left, get ‘em!
• Here’s an intersting rumor from the Silver Bullet Comics rumor realm:

• Finally today, we’ve got a very nice fan-made mock-up of a Bluntman & Chronic comic book cover, made with watersoluble pencils. It’s nice work! Click the thumbnail for a better look, and we’ll see ya later with more news from the set!

• Happy Saturday, folks. Today’s update represents a catch-up of sorts. Due to the exciting nature of the scoops from the day at the El Rey theater, we placed some other stuff on the back burner. Today, we’ve got all that stuff, as well as the first content exclusive to the “Scooping The Monkey” website. Over there, we’ve got a better shot of the poster that we displayed yesterday, an alternate marquee shot, and a few more stories from fans who were on the set doing extra duties. In those scoops, we’ve got some more details on the film, characters, and plot. As always, we’ll warn about spoilers, and advise you to read at your own risk. Kevin also posted regarding Thursday’s shot, which sounds like one of the most exciting days in View Askew history. Glad so many of you could be there to witness it.

A couple of interesting things learned from one of the scoopers’ notes was that Kevin said the Dogma SE DVD will probably be on hold until the movie wraps up, so that puts a release at least into March, probably more like April or May. With the new flick due late summer, who knows, they may wait and release the DVD as a tie-in or even include a J&SBSB teaser or preview on that sucker! Also, Malcolm Ingram (he of “Drawing Flies” fame) was shooting extra stuff on set JUST for inclusion on the eventual Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back DVD. Cool, cool stuff. Should be an even bigger disc that Dogma.

With Superbowl and Survivor tomorrow, this will be the only weekend update, so hopefully it’ll hold you over until we’re back on the air on Monday. Until then, here’s the news:
