  • Ming’s got the latest Tonight Show clip up in Quicktime format at the View Askew site. Check out another hilarious segment as Kevin greets Jay and introduces a clip where he chats it up with all the hot chicks and goofy guys at this year’s San Diego ComiCon.
  • A small but easily spotted Clerks reference appears in online comic “Network Ops” this week.

  • Douglas Fir, whose View Askew collection even makes US jealous, was kind enough to scan in some high-res shots of the backing cards of Walt and Steve-Dave. Check them out above.
  • The Guardian Saturday Guide had a preview of the upcoming UK release of the Green Arrow: Quiver graphic novel. It’s not online, so here’s a transcription:
Green Arrow: Quiver By Kevin Smith
Kevin Smith takes a break from his Jay and Silent Bob universe to pen Quiver, an enjoyable romp exploring the N*E*R*D philosophy at the heart of superhero comics – No-one Ever Really Dies. This graphic novel reprints Smith’s resurrection of Green Arrow, DC Comic’s Robin Hoodalike crime-fighter, bumped off while saving the world. Here he’s back, hunting a child-killer, while his old Justice League pals try to work out why he didn’t stay dead.
It’s packed with all the in-jokes you’d expect from professional fan-boy Smith, including someone who finally points out a major flaw:
“I don’t understand how so many people can afford to be customed vigilantes. It’s so expensive.Between the outfits, the hardware, the gadgets…..”

The article is credited to Richard Vine and the graphic novel is published by Titan Books at the UK price of £14.99.

  • And finally today, Ferry himself, Robert Englund, drops Kevin’s name when chatting about his next project, “The Last Horror Picture show”:
“It’s like BLAIR WITCH meets the source material for TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE,” Englund enthuses. “It’s a great script. It’s about snotty Texas film students – overweight, Kevin Smith slacker-types from Austin go out doing their documentary about these guys that were the source material for TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and are using not the original locations, but sites specific to the original crimes.

Maybe ‘ol Freddy hasn’t seen Kev since he started on the Atkins, though! But hey, it’s an acknowledgement all the same. Thanks to Fangoria for the piece. Freddy vs. Jason, by the way, looks like some good campy fun, though the horror flick to see this summer is Lions Gate’s “Cabin Fever”, which should see a limited release soon. Watch for it. Can’t WAIT to finally see that one.
