  • They’re back for another BIG week of excitement! Yep, Auctions Askew continues this week with 5 new rare or unique items from the View
Askew vaults. Items, as always, are modeled by the lovely Amy Noble. Apparel rules this week, which includes crew stuff (One of those highly sought
after Jay & Bob crew jackets, French Dogma duds, and the ever-rare Chasing Amy crew tee)…Along with our favorite item of the week, a screen-used scalpel
from “Jay & Bob Strike Back” (wouldn’t your View Askew loving pal just LOVE finding that under the tree on Xmas day? Just don’t try and get on a plane
with it!). Oh, and more holiday and business cards, available nowhere else.

This round of auctions closes a week from today, the 29th. You’ve got plenty of time…But have you the cash to take home the prize? You won’t know ’til
you start placing bids! Lots of luck, all.

  • Uh oh…Is that Jeanette Walls we smell trying to make a story out of nothing again? From today’s MSNBC column of hers
Even pal Kevin Smith couldn’t convince Ben Affleck to join “Degrassi: The Next Generation.”

By Jeannette Walls

Ben Affleck fans – if there are any left – shouldn’t hold their breath waiting to see him on “Degrassi: the Next Generation.”

Affleck’s buddy, director Kevin Smith, had told fans he was trying to get the “Gigli” star to appear in the popular Canadian teen TV show. Affleck, it seems, nixed the idea.

“Affleck, honestly, could use the work right now,” Smith joked to the Edmonton Journal when he announced his efforts to persuade Affleck to do the cameo.
“What better way to reboot your career than starring in a Canadian melodrama?” Smith himself is appearing in three episodes of the show and also persuaded
singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette to appear.

But Affleck apparently thinks that the public has had enough of him for right now. “He was just like, ‘You know what, dude? I’m a little too high profile
right now. I’m trying to scale back,’” Smith told MoviePoop.com. “He was just feeling the burn. It’s been a bad [bleeping] year for him, and he keeps
getting the [bleep] kicked out of him. I’m not gonna add to this dude’s misery right now, where you know the episode would air and people would be like,
‘Affleck winds up in Canadian teen soap opera.’ And they’d somehow tie it into Jennifer Lopez.”

  • This one could be of interest to Project Greenlight fans. Amazon has a listing for the DVD release of
    “Speakeasy” for January 4th. This
is the script that finished second to “Stolen Summer” on Greenlight’s first season. Matt, Ben, and Chris Moore convinced Miramax to finance the runner up
as well. We don’t think it ever got a theatrical release, but it’s finally getting dusted off the shelf.
