More Scoopage Direct From Mr. Smith!

February 22nd @ 9:50 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris, Annie Bulloch

  • Here’s a few more interesting tidbits from Kevin’s latest round of Q&A at the boards:
  • AUGUST 18TH seems to be the date Kevin’s officially throwing around for the Clerks II release now. Start the countdowns!
  • “Evening With Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder” was shot in HD, so he’s guessing that Columbia/Tristar will release both standard and Blu Ray versions of it. The plan is still to coincide the DVD release with the theatrical release of Clerks 2.
  • San Diego Con: He’ll run a panel on Saturday, and likely sign stuff on Sunday.
  • Clerks II merchandise will start to show up at the Stash closer to the film’s release in August.
  • A poker game is planned for Vulgarthon night in Red Bank. Count me in!

Kevin says he’ll be back for more Q&A next week — Now is a better time than ever to join the board and become a memeber of the coolest, more elite crew of View Askew fans on the web! Oh, AND communicate personally with the man himself, too. Good stuff.

The Quick Stop Sign Comes “Home”!

  • While on the New Jersey Clerks II set, we had the pleasure of seeing this very sign, on the ground, up close and personal. It was in the back of the vacant neighboring store, waiting to move to its new home, the original Red Bank Secret Stash! Kevin’s got the scoop and some beautiful photos of this amazing piece of View Askew history, now preserved for all eternity. Kev says:

This, good people, is the actual Quick Stop sign, featured in both “Clerks” and “Clerks II”.

The Thappar’s recently replaced it with a newer version, and were kind enough to donate the old one to the Red Bank Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash.

That’s a big-ass piece of film (and personal) history for me there, folks. I’m honored to house it in a store that wouldn’t even exist if it weren’t for that store.

*sigh*

Many thanks to the great Ernie “Rick Derris” O’Donnell for the sweet presentation and hanging.

“The 360 Shot” Concludes!

“The 360 Shot (The Deuce)”
  • Having seen the film, we know the nature of this shot — So we recommended you definitely check out both the previous part and this newly released conclusion to “The 360 Shot”. Watch a pivotal scene from Clerks 2 take shape (no spoilers, of course) as Randal and Dante have a conversation behind the Mooby’s. This one sort of summarizes more of the setup, including Jay’s stunt, a brief convo with Mos, and even a look at some statistics.

  • Let’s hope you’ve been keeping up with Will Wilkins and Scott Kramer’s continued excellent podcast, “Radio Askew”, featuring a weekly dose of View Askew news (and anything else that might come to their minds). The guys put on a fantastic show, and this week, with episode #25, bring a scoop you can’t get anywhere else — An audio “scene” from Clerks 2! So get on over there and download the latest episode!
  • Jason Lee is the answer to today’s imdb.com “Truly Trivial”. The question is:
This actor, a former professional skateboarder, co-founded the company Stereo Skateboards out of California.
  • Kevin was used in a ‘joke’ in MAD magazine this month, saying that if he went out with Lara Flynn Boyle, their tabliod nickname would be “Kevlar”. We’re working on a scan.
  • And, because it wouldn’t be a day here with a bit of “Doogal” news, here’s the latest from the New York Daily News :

Silent Bob seems to have broken his silence. Director Kevin Smith voices the character of Moose in the new Weinstein animated film “Doogal,” in which he seems to have eaten a few too many beans. He can be heard “making music” through the snow-covered mountains of the magical film, opening Friday. Also mouthing off in the movie are Oscar host Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, Whoopi Goldberg, William H. Macy, Bill Hader and John Krasinski .
