“Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang”
  • The latest entry in our excellent “Train Wreck” online webisode series, titled “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang” takes another look at the fun side of movie making…What happens during that downtime between scenes for actors and crew? In this case, it’s actor Trevor Fehrman filming his own evidence for a bet that he made with Jay Mewes — Just how many kisses can he get from females on the set? Stars Rosario Dawson and Wanda Sykes make hilarious appearances, along with some confused, and, sometimes, willing, crewmembers. Check out the fun at the official Clerks 2 website!

  • We’re happy to have the audio from Kevin’s Independent Spirit Awards speech for your listening pleasure — We will say that it’s LOW MP3 quality, but hey, it’ll download REAL fast for ya. So check out this hilarious 3 minute audio clip, where Kevin comments on host Sarah Silverman, and his special anniversary moment with Jen. Great stuff.

We’ve also got some presss from the event for you, all of which, of course, mentions Kevin’s memorable appearance:

New York Times: “A Tent Without Tent-Poles”

“…During the proceedings, Kevin Smith recalled that he had a first date with his wife on the night he was a Spirit winner and that she responded enthusiastically in ways we won’t go into. He went on to suggest that the night’s winners might have the drawn the same response from her.

Standing outside after the show, Mr. Smith was asked whether this year’s Oscars seemed almost redundant, being centered on just the kind of small films that the Spirit awards are. (”Brokeback Mountain” won best picture and Ang Lee best director — Imagine that.)

“Do any awards show matter, really?” he said, not in a cranky way, but just asking the question. “I’m no expert, I guess. I am not the awards kind of director. I’m the director that you call when you want to give out awards to other directors.” Terrence Howard, who chose a crystal encrusted Bluetooth earpiece while selecting goodies, said there was no danger that he would join Three 6 Mafia in their performance of “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp.” “Nah, I think my rapping days are over,” he told the Bagger outside one of the press tents.”

LA Times: “An Oscar Prequel?”

“…Comedian/actress Sarah Silverman served as this year’s master of ceremonies, but her salty and sexual banter was easily upstaged by director Kevin Smith, who presented the best director honor with a wind-up laced with expletives — many involving his own wife — that drew groans and catcalls from the audience.”

E! Online: “Spirit Awards Go for ‘Broke’”

“…While show producers might have feared that the notoriously potty-mouthed host may have kept the censors busy, the raunchiest moment of the night actually came from Best Director presenter Kevin Smith, who turned his remembrance of his first Spirit Awards experience into an over-sharing anecdote about him and his wife’s first lovemaking escapade.”

Kevin’s proving himself quite the showstopper, ‘eh? Can’t wait to see where he pops up next!

  • Jason Mewes will be appearing at the 2006 Phoenix Film Festival. On Saturday, March 25, he will be participating in the Festival’s educational outreach. He will also be doing Q&A after the 7 p.m. world premiere of his film “Nice Guys,” directed by Joe Eckardt. While the Festival’s Web site doesn’t confirm Mewes’ appearance, the Festival’s latest brochures confirm Mewes will be there. Additionally, Executive Director Chris Lamont announced at a volunteer staff meeting Saturday that Mewes will be at the premier and the outreach event.

Fellow “Clerks” alum Brian O’Halloran has attended two Phoenix Film Festivals in the past, in 2002 to promote “Drop Dead Roses” and the following year as a guest emcee.

  • The recently launched UK digital channel ITV4 will be airing Clerks Uncensored (The Animated Series), starting next week. It’ll air on Wednesdays at 10.30pm, and we assume, in original order.
  • There’s a Mallrats question in this movie quiz located over at Liquid Generation.
