- The Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, CA presents “SModcast 3D” with Kevin and Scott on January 14, 2011. Tickets are now on sale for the price of $35 and will certainly sell out. Doors open at 8 PM for a 9 PM start time.
We’ll keep you posted on upcoming live dates, as we’re expecting a mix of 2011 shows both at the official SModcastle as well as on the road for folks who are unable to make the trip into L.A. to check it out. With a continually growing network of podcasts, there’s always something new to check out.

Kevin has stated that when possible, some shows will grow from the SModcastle to larger venues, but the castle will live on as other live gigs get announced, as a spot to try out new programming as well as hold special intimate events.

- While a lot of this stuff has made it in better quality audio to the SModcast network, we wanted to point you in the direction of Mike “Movie Miguel”‘s YouTube page, where he’s taken a lot of video from recent months of Kevin appearances in the Ohio area. - The great Jason Lee will star AND DIRECT the TV program “Shredd: The Jon Johnsonsen Story”, based on a skateboarder who winds up in a coma for 25 years (1985 to the present), and wakes up in a 40 year old body, with the mind of a teenager. Bleeding Cool has details:
Jason Lee, his production company Reveille and Jack Black’s shingle Electric Dynamite are set to head up Shredd: The Jon Johnsonsen Story, about a skateboarder who in 1985 was top of his game until a skating accident put him into a coma. 25 years later he awakens in a 40 year old body, but with the mind of a teenager.
Jason Lee and Luke Watson have already written a pilot episode which Lee plans to direct and act in. During his teenage years before he stumbled into acting Lee himself was on the professional skateboarding circuit, so it will definitely be interesting to see him return to his roots with his performance in this role.
Although Electric Dynamite and Reveille have been in a two year contract deal, this marks the first TV pilot developed together from both companies, although each has their own projects in development. Lee is currently starring in TNT’s Memphis Beat which has just been renewed for a second series, and if production for Shredd goes ahead he could be playing roles in both shows around the same time.
No other cast members have been confirmed yet, and although this basic premise has been covered before in various other stories, with these production companies and Jason Lee to direct and star it looks to be a show well worth watching out for. Deadline report that the show will air on Adult Swim.
Fans of Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” know how subversive and bizarre its programming can be. We’ll be looking forward to seeing what Lee does for late night programming.
