  • There’s a fantastic new article on the Jersey Girl and Clerks X DVDs up at Jim Hill Media. Hill is a reporter for all things Disney (among other things) and is very eloquent. The article again mentions a Fall 2005 target for the Clerks sequel.
  • Ireland Online also has a few kind words on “Jersey Girl” today.
  • The big news circulating the web today is the announcement of Chris Rock as the host of the next Oscars. Most stories seem to be mentioning his role in “Dogma” in their copy. This marks the first time that a View Askew vet has hosted the Academy Awards. 🙂 We’re looking forward to his work.
  • Tomorrow morning, The Screen Savers site will put up a web exclusive chat with Jason Mewes. They’ve also gota short summary of the interview that took place on Thursday online, along with a new “Two Minute Chat” with the man they call Jay.
  • Nickelodeon has started running a spotlight of Jason Lee featuring his new role as the villian in the new Pixar movie “The Incredibles”. In other Lee news, 411VM, a major skateboad publication is spotlighting Jason in its newest DVD issue.
  • NewsItem.com names Clerks as one of their top 10 funny films to put you in a better mood:
6. “Clerks” — The directorial debut of Kevin Smith shot on a shoestring budget. “Clerks” follows the story of hapless convenience store clerk Dante “I’m not even supposed to be here today” Hicks, his best friend Randal and two stoners outside the building who became pop culture icons, Jay and Silent Bob. (This is one that’s not for kids.) Favorite scene: Randal ordering a laundry list of X-rated movies for the video store while a mother and child wait to see if he can order “Happy Scrappy: Hero Pup” for them.
  • Could the new Clerks flick mark an ongoing return for Jay & Bob to the big screen? MTV.com runs this blurb today:
He’s hard at work on a “Clerks” sequel, and now Kevin Smith is thinking about a “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” follow-up. “So many people ask about it — I’m just like, ‘Where were all you mother—-ers when they were in their own movie in theaters? I could have used your help!” Smith said. “That makes me think every once in a while, and ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’ did really well on DVD. I’m like, ‘Wow, if we made a Jay and Bob movie now, we might clean up.’ But I don’t know, that’s not a reason to make a movie.” A sequel would be a few years off, regardless, as Smith is committed to “The Green Hornet” after “The Passion of the Clerks.” …
