Vincent On Upcoming Appearances, DVDFile Interview…

  • Vincent Pereira’s a busy guy these days as well…Not only is he busy at work on those View Askew DVDs you read about above, as well as putting the final touches on his OWN upcoming DVD release for “A Better Place”, he’s also got a couple screenings of the flick with Q&A sessions coming up. Here’s Vincent:
I just wanted to fill you in on two A BETTER PLACE screenings (followed by a Q&A with yours truly) that will be happening later this week in Dixie. The first is on Wednesday night (February 16th) at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia- NewsAskew scooped some info on this screening a couple weeks ago. I don’t have the exact time on me, but NewsAskew had more precise info posted, so do a little search over there. If memory serves, they said the screening would be open to the public.

The 2nd screening will be Friday night at the University of South Alabama. The screening will be at 7 PM in the SC Ballroom (I assume the SC stands for student center). Not sure of the specifics re: who can attend, but the contact there is Michael Coppejans and his number is (334) 460-7144.

In addition to that, there’s an excellent new interview with Vincent courtesy of DVD File online today. Here’s a summary:

A DVD Askew : Called “The Cleanest Cat” at View Askew Productions, Producer, Writer and Director Vincent Pereira is quite the cool cat when it comes to DVD as well. Though you may not recognize his name as quickly as Director Kevin Smith, Mr. Pereira has helped produce the highly-regarded Criterion editions of Clerks and Chasing Amy (both of which have now been ported to DVD), the groundbreaking Mallrats DVD and the upcoming sure-to-be-controversial Dogma disc.

Vincent sat down for an interview with our own Cliff Stephenson and chatted at length about Kevin Smith, the Dogma controversy and all things DVD. He was very personable, funny and had plenty to say about DVD in general and the lack of some director’s support for the format in particular. It is a great interview, and there are some cool details on the upcoming Dogma disc in there as well.

You can read the entire interview, which does indeed contain lots of great stuff, HERE. You’ll see just how much Vincent knows about DVD and film in general. It’s astounding. And it’s scary how much sense the guy makes.
