Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, the movies’ answer to the Glimmer Twins, both have new projects pending. Affleck is negotiating to star in “Boiler Room,” about a group of young brokers who try to pawn off questionable stock to ignorant customers. Meanwhile, Damon may jump into his first action flick, “Oh Baby Sky.” Tony Scott (“Top Gun,” “Crimson Tide”) will direct the film, which has been described as “‘Trainspotting’ set in the rock-climbing world.” Jokes about “getting really high” will be reserved until filming starts.

JOEY LAUREN ADAMS, the amazing young actress of “Chasing Amy,” has been tapped to co-star with Adam Sandler in Columbia Picture’s “Guy Gets Kid.” She’ll play a lawyer who helps Sandler keep the child he has adopted. Filming begins next month in Manhattan. Adams also has a role in Shirley MacLaine’s much-anticipated directorial debut, “Bruno,” opposite Kathy Bates and Gary Sinise. (The drums are already beating that MacLaine will be the first woman to win a Best Director Oscar. That would be nice. Only one female has ever been nominated in that category — Jane Campion for “The Piano.”)
