  • If you didn’t see E!‘s Gossip Show yesterday, they announced that Leonardo DeCaprio has definetly turned down Spiderman and that Ben Affleck has been offered/will get $5 mill. to play Parker. Remember folks, this is the GOSSIP SHOW, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll watch the project closely for more “official” announcements.
  • Hey, it’s good to have some female scoopers when you’ve got material coming from YM Magazine. Here’s what our reader has to say:
In the July 1998 issue of YM magazine, there is an article on Ben Affleck on page 76. Chasing Amy and Mallrats are mentioned as being some of his early movie debuts and Ben also says later in the article:

Freakiest experience : “After Chasing Amy, a few people came up to me and said, `Did anyone ever tell you that you look like Ben Affleck?'” Ben recalls. “I thought that was weird.”

He gives a shout out to his brother Casey : “My brother Casey is the best actor in Good Will Hunting [he played Morgan],” says Ben, “I think he has more talent as an actor or a writer than Matt or me.”

Speaking of Matt Damon, he is in the magazine on page 10 but it doesn’t mention any View Askew type things. Both articles include big pictures of the two fellas. Just thought you would like to know!

Yep, and we thank ya! Our subscription to YM JUST ran out, so we must have missed the issue. Time to renew, I guess.

By the way, that’s a joke. If you think we subscribe to YM…Well…That’s just wrong.

  • Wondering what’s going on with that interview footage that Kevin shot for the hilarious Space Ghost Coast to Coast interview show? Here’s a nice little tidbit about Kevin‘s appearance. It came from THIS fan’s Ghost Planet site:
“Mar 6, 1998 – Not surprisingly, work is already underway on a brandspanking new season of Space Ghost Coast to Coast (set to start airing in mid july) at Ghost Planet Industries’ new-to-them offices. Amongst the shows being beaten into shape are one starring Björk, one show grouping directors Ben Stiller, Kevin Smith and Jim Jarmusch, and probably another featuring the original Space Ghost, Gary Owens.”

We’ll do our best to get the official air date of the episode to you as soon as it’s announced! Should be a riot…The writers on the show are WAY out there.

  • MTV News is finally getting their facts straight in their Dogma reports. They recently mentioned Kevin‘s update post about Alanis, saying that he confirmed her presence in the film but didn’t confirm the role. They also tossed in a bit more, like some of Kevin’s comments about Alanis and the names of some of the other cast members. We didn’t see it, but we hear it was a nice little plug.
  • This baby comes to us from Liz Smith’s Column today:
Elizabeth Berkley, true survivor (Remember, she starred in “Showgirls”.) has nabbed a choice role in “Tale Lights Fade”, an indie feature directed by Malcolm Ingram and written by Matt Gissing. She’ll play a strong-willed mystery woman involved with a couple traveling cross-country. Berkley is working hard to erase the unfair treatment she received at the critics’ hands for “Showgirls.” (After all, she didn’t write the script!) She has two more features upcoming: “The Tax Man”, with Joe Pantoliano, and “Last Call”.

While we’re on the subject, does anyone know why Nomi actually VOMITS in the street when she runs into that other chick towards the beginning of the movie? One of the age-old questions, I guess…

We’ll see ya next time. Thanks for dropping in!
