• DVD Supersite The Digital Bits ran a report over the long holiday
  weekend which detailed the extras included on the Clerks X DVD, due on September the 7th. They very kindly note that Kevin and View Askew
  always put a ton of work into their DVDs, so it’s nice to see that the community at large agrees that it doesn’t get much better than our
  special editions.

So, as for extras, there’s not much new here, aside from the fact that the documentary now has a clever title we hadn’t seen before: “Snowball
Effect” (as well as the fact that it runs a full 150 minutes, WOW). Now, the potential BIG news here was that the Clerks TV pilot was again
thrown onto the list. Well, we immediately did some fact checking, and we’re sorry to report that word has come down from above that the
press release is INCORRECT in that regard, and the Clerks TV pilot will NOT be in the set. Sorry, folks. We wanted to see it, too.

However, take a look at what the Bits had to say, we think it’ll have you drooling and marking your calendar days with glee as the 7th
of September draws closer:

• We’d like to take a moment to wish everyone a happy Independence Day here in America — Have a great time with whatever you do today (and

• Wizard World Chicago’s already amazing schedule just got even better, as Jason Mewes will
  now be joining Kevin for the weekend. The con takes place from August 13th through the 15th. No set schedule has been announced, though we assume that
  Kevin (and possibly Jay) will appear for Q&A one day, and have an autograph session on the other. Kevin USUALLY does the signing on a Friday, and the Q&A
  on a Saturday, but like we said, nothing’s for certain yet. Once we have definite details, you’ll find there right here at News Askew.

• We rarely mention eBay items, but this one’s something we’ve never seen before: A sealed Mallrats soundtrack…On vinyl!
  Could be a quite a nifty addition to your View Askew collection. As always, we don’t sanction any eBay auctions unless noted, so bid at your own risk.
• In this news blurb, Liv Tyler cites her experiences working
  with Raquel Castro in Jersey Girl as inspiration to have a child of her own.
• To mark the 20th anniversary of “Purple Rain”, Prince played a reuinion show with Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back’s Morris Day and the Time. Perhaps it was also to celebrate J&SBSB’s network TV debut?
• More in the series of Jason Lee ads for cyclism are airing on the Outdoor Life Network this weekend, during their event coverage.

• It’s great hitting another huge milestone today, just before a niiiice long holiday weekend. Yep, we’ve crossed the
  15 million hit threshhold as of this afternoon here at News Askew. Yet again, we must say that we have each and every one of you to thank
  for the hits that this site continues to celebrate. We’re doing it for all of you, and happy that you continue to return for your regular
  Askew news fix. So, thanks to all who wrote in to let us know that we passed the mark, and yet again, THANK YOU for the continuing scoops

• Don’t forget, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back begins airing on Comedy Central (with what we presume will be the special TV

• The upcoming WATCHA film festival will be scerening Clerks in Watford, UK. It’s happening on Sunday 11th July. £10 gets

• A View Askew reference popped up in an odd place today: Carmen Electra’s new Naked Women’s Wrestling League. According to the official
  site the “After Scoolgirls” tag team features a gal that goes by “Trish The Dish”.
• Congrats to Movie Poop Shoot webmaster Chris Ryall, whose just accepted the Editor-in-Chief position at IDW
  publishing. Good on ya, Chris!
• Jersey Girl scores a quick mention in this Hollywood Reporter piece
  on setting up for a NYC premiere.
• Just to clear up any confusion: Seems the Comedy Central schedule changed again since our last post, so we urge you to just check your local listings for
  the upcoming Jay & Bob airings. It now appears the 7/10 (early morning 7/11) airing of Jay and Silent Bob WILL be on at 1am – 3am, but now only has that
  2 hour slot instead of an original 2.5 hours. This also means the airing on 7/11 is reinstated at 8-10pm instead of the 8-10:30.
• Finally today, we were saddened to learn of the sudden passing on June 24th of Jack Fiorile, the owner of Fiorile’s Bar, which was featured prominently in
  Jersey Girl. Our sincerest condolences.

• There’s been some last-minute changes to the Comedy Central airings for Jay & Bob and Dogma: The July 5th airings of the flicks will be
  altered. Dogma will now start at 5pm (instead of 4:30pm) and JASBSB will now air at 7:30pm (instead of 7pm) — these times are eastern. They are also
  *deleting* the following repeats of JASBSB. 7/10 (early morning 7/11) @ 3am and 7/11 @ 10pm. Other previously announced repeats will still be in place.
  We’re not sure if this means they’ll be only airing the TV edit version or not. Still worth your time to check out. The airtimes are all up to date at the
  Comedy Central site.
• With Farenheit 9/11 making so much money at the box office last weekend, Dogma gets name-dropped in this Box Office Prophets article looking at the history of past Miramax distribution transferrals.
• Speaking of Farenheit 9/11, there’s a new photo of Kev attending the premiere over at the official
  site.
• Attention UK fans: This Friday (July 2nd) at the Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley, North London, there will be a showing of Clerks at 11:30 PM. It’ll cost ya
  £5 to get in. Be there and catch it on the big screen!
• The Orgazmo DVD site has returned, again mentioning Kevin’s involvement with the DVD via a commentary track, though if you recall
  from past updates it’s more like a few minutes of commentary, conducted via phone, not a full-length involvement. If we get a test copy to review we’ll
  see if we can tell you more.
• Our inside sources at Playboy tell us that the Matt Damon interview, due in the August issue, is quite good, with a lot of insight on
  working with Ben and other stuff. We’ll let you know when it’s available.

• We’ve got some splendid news for you to start the day off – The Jersey Girl DVD release has been BUMPED UP a week, to September 7th!
  This means that the disc will actually hit the streets on the SAME DAY as Clerks X! One trip to the store, or one order from the Stash, and you can have
  BOTH DISCS! This has been confirmed by Disney/Miramax, so we assure you that September 7th will be the biggest View Askew DVD release day in history.
  Remember, the original Jersey Girl release will not be the disc with all the extra scenes, commentaries, and the like. That disc will be out sometime
  later in 2004 or 2005. This is the movie only edition, similar to what was done with Dogma a couple years back.
