International “Clerks II” Details…

June 16th @ 3:41 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris, Karla, Kevin Smith

  • We reported on an Australian release date for Clerks II a few weeks ago, and we’re now getting confirmation on that as well as some UK details (and yes, good news on some personal appearances) from Kevin himself:
I’ve finally got some info for you non-Americans who’ve been asking about the international release of “Clerks II”.

Right now, it looks like Australia is opening first. They’ve invited me Down Under (my first trip ever to Oz) to attend the premiere and do some press in Sydney and Melbourne. The proposed dates for the press tour are August 4th to August 10th, but that will change, due to my prior commitment to the Netflix/Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow screening of “Clerks II” outside of the Quick Stop in Leonoardo, NJ on August 8th. So “Clerks II” will be in Australian cinemas by mid-August the latest.

The UK goes next. I don’t have an exact release date, but they’ve got me coming to Blighty (first stop: Edinburgh) from August 17th to August 22 to do press, which would put the release date closer to the end of August.

That’s all I know thus far.

“My Name Is Earl”: DVD Release Change…

  • TVShowsonDVD.com had previously reported that the long-awaited Season 1 release of the MNIE DVD would hit stores on September 5, but is now reporting the set has been delayed until September 26. No reason has been given, though we’ll keep you posted. We’re looking forward to this one, so the delay stinks, but at least it’s only a few weeks.

And just in case you weren’t already excited for this set, check out this tidbit from the IMDB on another exciting extra:

The complete first season DVD of My Name Is Earl will include an entirely new episode created specifically for the DVD when it is released on Sept. 26, Home Video Retailing reported today (Thursday).

The trade paper said that the episode is kind of an “alternate” to the pilot, in that instead of repenting for his past misdeeds, Earl decides to get back at anyone who’s ever wronged him. Ethan Suplee, who plays Earl’s brother in the series, told HVR that the performers were able “to play around a bit” with the DVD extra. “I don’t think we said f*** or anything like that, but I definitely don’t think you could air it on television.”

Press Tours: What We Know…

June 15th @ 8:23 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • We’ve been getting so many e-mails about this topic we thought we’d post up what we knew. With all the cities and dates posted for when Kevin, Brian, and Jeff are touring the country to promote Clerks II, many of you are wondering: Are these PUBLIC appearances? Photo ops, autographs, etc?

From what we gathered, at Vulgarthon, Brian did inform us of this plan, but it sounded more like the tour would allow the guys to do in-person radio and TV interviews, not necessarily public meetings or appearances for fans. That doesn’t however, mean it might not happen in some cities.

Kevin’s revealed the final word on this via the board today:

Nah. It’s just press: me, Brian and Jeff doing morning radio shows, morning TV shows, and sitting down for one-on-ones with the local press and round-tables with the ‘net folks. And since it’s do press all day, then travel to the next city at night, there’s little time to do much else (in the way of signings and whatnot).

And a bit more detailed, from another post:

A few of you have asked what Brian/Jeff or me will be doing on those stops in those cities. The day is pretty much as follows…

6 am to 10 am: Morning radio shows and local morning tv shows
11 am to 5 pm: Print one-on-ones and ‘net round-tables
6 or 7 pm: Flight to next city.
6 am to 10 am: Start same routine in next city.

This leaves no time for signings, appearances, etc. Sorry.

Your best bet is to listen to the morning radio shows or tune in to the morning tv shows (though, in the past, some folks have camped out in front of the radio stations/tv stations in hopes of running into me).

We’ll keep you posted if we do hear anything in the way of PUBLIC appearances.

Clerks II Flyer Promo In NYC!

June 15th @ 8:23 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Billy Archiello

  • Here’s a neat scoop spotted in New York City — A movie theater there gave our scooper a Clerks II promotional flyer, which he was good enough to scan for us. One side features snippets from that glowing Cannes review (watch for minor spoilers), and the other side has a fun little Kevin Smith film quiz. Our scooper also was shown some test TV spots for the film! Here’s that report:
That same theater was testing trailers and commercials for market research, and the commercial i was shown was a TV spot for Clerks 2! Great little commercial, but having seen the film already at Vulgarthon, It did give some great jokes away.

Click the pics for closer looks at the flyer! Great little souvenir from the flick, for sure!

  • Kevin’s confirmed a July 10th appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno to promote Clerks II. Rosario Dawson will also appear to promote the film, though the date of her appearance isn’t set just yet. We’ll of course let ya know.
  • Superman director Bryan Singer mentions Kevin’s involvement briefly in an interview he did with Aint It Cool recently. Here’s the snippet:
Harry Knowles – Ya know that there was always a part of me that missed the X-MEN’s real costumes. It’s always going to be there for me, and I know they might be incredibly silly if adapted, but when I saw the SUPERMAN… given the history of this film… and from when you came aboard it became an entirely new film from what had been in development at Warner Brothers for 15 years. From there, Jon Peters was talking about getting rid of the cape, make it a black costume, make it where Superman can’t fly. Ya know, all that kind of stuff. Personally, I can’t really imagine people griping.

Bryan Singer – By the way, I’m not totally sure that was up to Jon Peters. I know Jon and I talked to him about that personally, because I deal with him quite a lot and he’s really quite sweet and I asked him about all that stuff and the problem is he does no press, he just sort of stays out of the limelight and he’s never really had a chance to defend himself, but he’s like, “I don’t know what these people are talking about. There were aspects in the early development,” but he never defends himself…

Harry Knowles – Well, I believe almost all of that came strictly out of Kevin Smith when he departed from the project.

Bryan Singer – You never quite know, I’ve never talked to Kevin about this, but it is… but I do have access to everything that has come before and there are certainly some… -interesting- costume tests that were done. That I have been privy to and I (laughs)

Harry Knowles – Yeah, I’ve seen some of those too. (laughs)

  • Earlier this week we let ya know FEAST would hit theaters in September. Seems that it’ll be a brief run, though, as Moviehole is now reporting that the flick will be available on DVD before THIS Halloween! That’s only about a month window. Those who have seen the film claim it could potentially be a huge cult classic, so we’re really looking forward to this one.
