• We’ve been posting quite a few reports of Jason Mewes making public signing appearances at horror conventions across the country over the past few weeks – Mewes is starting to branch out into the genre, with small roles in the Project Greenlight horrorfest “Feast”, as well as David Arquette’s “The Tripper”. He’s also promoting a turn in the horror-comedy “Netherbeast Incorporated”.

• Looks like a group of lucky fans in the New York area will get their exclusive first look at footage from “Zack & Miri Make a Porno” — Quick Stop Entertainment has just announced that, during their panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con, they’ll present an exclusive look at the movie. Will this be the first public footage anyone sees? It all depends on Kevin’s plans for deploying his internet-only trailers. The panel will run on Saturday, April 19th, from 5:00 – 6:00 PM in room 1E16. Full details in this post:

News Askew Z&M site…

• The Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN will be showing Mallrats on April 11th and 12th at Midnight. More details can be found at the Belcourt site. Mallrats is one of the best View Askew flicks to see with a crowd of fans, so if you’re in the area, do NOT miss this chance!

Brian O’Halloran has been confirmed to make an appearance in Indianapolis, IN the weekend of March 28th-30th, at the Horrorhound Weekend Convention. He is going to be there to promote his new movie, Brutal Massacre. All the details are at www.horrorhoundweekend.com.

• “Zack and Miri” co-star Craig Robinson will bringing his stand-up and musical talents to the stage next Saturday night live in Pittsburgh! And a s a special treat, Kevin will be hosting the event.   Kevin Smith, Darryl Philbin to appear at Improv Saturday

  Fans of the NBC Comedy series “The Office,” know that Darryl Philbin is not a man to be trifled with.

  
  The warehouse manager at Dunder-Mifflin has a fierce glower that says “Please don’t make me tear off your arm and beat you with it,”which is probably what he’d like to do to his clueless boss Michael (Steve Carell).

  
  Robinson used his powers of intimidation to great effect in a scene-stealing turn as a club doorman in Judd Apatow’s smash movie comedy “Knocked Up.”

  
  Robinson, who’s in town filming “Zack and Miri Make a Porno,” will perform a stand-up show March 8 at the Pittsburgh Improv at the Waterfront in Homestead.

  
  Some of the other “Zack and Miri” cast will be on hand to sign autographs and contribute to the hoopla, including actor Seth Rogen and director Kevin Smith, who will serve as host.

  
  Robinson, a keyboard player and singer, will log double duty by performing with his band.

  
  “It’s going to be his show but he’s bringing members of the cast of ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno,’ ” says Improv manager Aimee Arnold.

  
  There’s no word on whether cast members Traci Lords or Elizabeth Banks will show.

The new film from Kevin Smith and producer Scott Mosier will shoot its first frames on Wednesday, January 16th. Stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks will film in and around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

• Attention, Florida! The FXI International show, taking place in Orlando from Jan 25 to Jan 27, 2008 has a very impressive guest list this year, including two View Askew vets – Marilyn Ghigliotti (“Clerks”) and Jeremy London (“Mallrats”). A complete guest list is available. This show is different from many cons, as they use a virtual ticketing system, sort of like a “FastPass” type deal, so you don’t have to wait in long lines to get your autographs. Pretty nifty.

  We’re sure that Marilyn and Jeremy would love to meet some of their View Askew fans and sign some stuff for you. Jason Mewes was scheduled for this at one point, but unfortunately had to cancel. We also heard rumblings of a possible Brian O’Halloran appearance, but that’s still up in the air. For a fan of the Askewniverse though, this is certainly a great chance to meet two icons from the first two flicks, and a spectacular chance to get that DVD or poster signed.

  Speaking of Marilyn, her new horror film “Dead and Gone” is going through the contract stage, and set to hit video sometime in 2008. We’ll let you know when it’s available.
