• We’ve been to a lot of Kevin Smith appearances, but two that stick out for us were both at the historic Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey. At the first show we attended, Kevin set a record with his longest onstage appearance EVER. The second time around, cameras filmed a soon to be released DVD on Kevin’s 37th birthday, featuring all new tales, never told before.

  So, when we heard that the Basie was being closed for renovations from July to October, we were first bummed, but then excited. While this would mean Kevin wouldn’t have a chance to hit this great spot over the summer, we were hopeful to see what would come after the place re-opened.

  So, here’s the good news – Kevin will be appearing at the Count Basie LIVE, one night only — Friday, November 7th, at 7:00 PM. This being a Friday night, it’s going to be a BIG show, considering it kicks off the weekend. Also, it’s likely to sell out fast. For this one, it’s not a question of IF it will sell out, but WHEN, and how quickly.

  The show is scheduled for just one week after the current planned release date for “Zack And Miri Make a Porno”, so it’s likely that Kevin will have a lot to say about the film — And will hopefully be celebrating from a big week of box office grosses!

• Big news for you View Askew & “Clerks” fans — We’d previously reported that Jason Mewes would be attending Chiller Con in Parsippany, NJ from May 2nd through the 4th, just a few weeks away. Now, the reason to make the trip gets even better! Brian O’Halloran and Marilyn Ghigliotti will ALSO appear and sign autographs at the show, in their first ever con reunion! Yep, that’s THREE of the main cast from the original View Askew Production, all in one place, happy to meet their fans and sign some swag.
  

  
  We’ve had the pleasure of spending quite a bit of time with Marliyn and Brian over the years, and can attest to the fact that these are two of the most kind, gracious folks in the biz, who love their fans. Don’t miss this chance to visit the Con and meet three View Askew icons.

• Looks like a group of lucky fans in the New York area will get their exclusive first look at footage from “Zack & Miri Make a Porno” — Quick Stop Entertainment has just announced that, during their panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con, they’ll present an exclusive look at the movie. Will this be the first public footage anyone sees? It all depends on Kevin’s plans for deploying his internet-only trailers. • The Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN will be showing Mallrats on April 11th and 12th at Midnight. More details can be found at the Belcourt site. Mallrats is one of the best View Askew flicks to see with a crowd of fans, so if you’re in the area, do NOT miss this chance!

  Fans of the NBC Comedy series “The Office,” know that Darryl Philbin is not a man to be trifled with.

  
  The warehouse manager at Dunder-Mifflin has a fierce glower that says “Please don’t make me tear off your arm and beat you with it,”which is probably what he’d like to do to his clueless boss Michael (Steve Carell).

  
  Robinson used his powers of intimidation to great effect in a scene-stealing turn as a club doorman in Judd Apatow’s smash movie comedy “Knocked Up.”

  
  Robinson, who’s in town filming “Zack and Miri Make a Porno,” will perform a stand-up show March 8 at the Pittsburgh Improv at the Waterfront in Homestead.

  
  Some of the other “Zack and Miri” cast will be on hand to sign autographs and contribute to the hoopla, including actor Seth Rogen and director Kevin Smith, who will serve as host.

  
  Robinson, a keyboard player and singer, will log double duty by performing with his band.

  
  “It’s going to be his show but he’s bringing members of the cast of ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno,’ ” says Improv manager Aimee Arnold.

  
  There’s no word on whether cast members Traci Lords or Elizabeth Banks will show.
