Jason Mewes @ Mid-Ohio-Con 2008

June 29th @ 8:53 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by JJ Smathers

  • The Mid-Ohio Con reports that Jason Mewes will be a guest this year. The show runs on October 4th and 5th in Columbus, Ohio. We’ll assume Mewes will be there for his usual autograph signing and meet and greet. If you’re in the area, this is a fantastic chance to meet a View Askew legend.

  • Kevin’s got big plans for the San Diego Comic-Con next month. No exact details yet, but here’s a quote on his plans for this year:

Busy year for me at the Con this time; I’m doing four different panels, including my usual gig (Friday night, 6:30 to 8:00pm).

No details on the Con’s official site just yet, but we will have the full schedule right here as soon as it’s revealed. We can only assume one of the other panels may be as moderator (perhaps a Heroes or Galactica panel?), and perhaps a few other surprises. The San Diego Comic Con runs July 24-27 and is arguably the best Con in the world. A MAJOR media event for not just comics, but now the latest in film and television as well.

  • Watch the great George Carlin spend a couple minutes chatting about Dogma on “Inside the Actors Studio” via Hulu, our new favorite online TV media portal. And of course, don’t miss NBC’s re-airing of the first-ever episode of “Saturday Night Live” tonight, where Carlin hosts the original “Not Ready For Prime Time” players.
  • Clerks star Marilyn Ghigliotti stars as “Nurse Clark” in the new horror flick “Dead And Gone”, which hits DVD this Tuesday, July 1st, from Lions Gate. Pre-order your copy from Amazon today! Some good reviews over at Amazon as well.

Jason Mewes @ London Film and Comic Con

June 8th @ 11:01 am | 2 Comments » | Scooped by

  • Our fine fans over in the United Kingdom are so kind to Kevin and the crew when they’re in town, so we have no doubt folks will line up for the London Film and Comic Con this year, as Jason Mewes has just been announced as a confirmed guest. The show will take place on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of July.

The thread on Mewes states that Jason will appear for a free Q&A as well as a photo shoot — We assume this means there will be time for your own photos and autographs.

Jason will be a popular dude at the show, so you may want to line up early. If we hear further details on how you can meet Jason, we’ll of course keep you posted.

Tom Savini, special FX master and genre actor, who has a small role in “Zack & Miri Make a Porno”, will also appear at the show.

A full guest list (quite impressive) and more details at the show’s official site.

Kevin will be the Celebrity Ball-Caller at “Legendary Bingo” in West Hollywood, CA

May 17th @ 7:04 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Alonso Duralde

  • Kevin is going to be the Celebrity Ball-Caller at “Legendary Bingo” this Wednesday, May 21, at 9 PM at Hamburger Mary’s, 8288 Santa Monica Blvd., in West Hollywood. It’s a weekly charity bingo game, and this week’s beneficiary is “The Walker Brothers”, our scooper’s team in this fall’s Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Parties of 10 or more can make advance reservations by calling Hamburger Mary’s at (323) 654-3800; If you don’t make reservations, it’s suggested that you arrive no later than 8:30pm to put your name in for bingo with the hostess.

We’re going to guess this will not only be a fun way to spend a night out and benefit charity (and possibly call BINGO!), but that Kevin will lend a lot of his own brand of entertainment to the evening. More information can be had at the Legendary Bingo site. We suggest booking right away, as once word is out of Kevin’s involvement, we’re betting fans will fill up the sports pretty quickly (so go and find yourself 9 friends!).

Kevin Announces Crazy 4 Cult 2 (and Zombies!)

May 10th @ 8:31 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • After a brief hiatus, Kevin returned to the blogging world last evening with the announcement of a following up to his and Scott’s very successful Crazy 4 Cult exhibit from last year. And if that wasn’t cool enough news, check out the new still just released from Zack & Miri Make A Porno! Are you kidding us? The Monroeville Zombies?!? How do we get one of those jerseys? Check out some of the highlights from Kevin’s post here…

Been knee-deep in “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” type stuff, preparing for our first official test screening on Tuesday night (somewhere in the midwest). The flick’s current running time is 1:45, so we’ll see if putting it in front of an audience sheds light on any further possible cuts. Fingers crossed the flick plays great.

Thursday night, I’ll be in Jersey for another poker tourney at Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash. There are about five seats left, if you’re on the east coast and feel like rolling cards with us May 15th at 8p.m. Interested parties should drop a line to donkey@viewaskew.com.

When I get back from the trip back east, I think I’ll be ready to post the first internet-only “Zack and Miri” teaser. I’ll let you know when it goes live at www.quickstopentertainment.com (home of SModcast).

I’ll be at San Diego for ComiCon yet again this summer. More details when I know ‘em (but figure a Friday night panel in the big room).

Anyone remember the Crazy for Cult art show Scott and I hosted last summer at Gallery 1988 on Melrose, here in Los Angeles? Remember how awesome that turned out? Well Jensen, Scott and I are doing it again this August…

      Trust me: you’ll love it.

And that’s about it, for the time being. I’ll check back after the test screening to let you know how we did, as well as hip you to the ‘net teaser.

As always, you can read Kevin’s full posts on his MySpace blog or Silent Bob Speaks.com.

Kevin Q&A at the Bergen Performing Arts Center

April 30th @ 11:24 am | 2 Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris, Andrew Schwartz

  • Alrighty folks, as promised, we’ve now received the official word from the inside on the new date for Kevin’s Q&A at the Bergen Performing Arts Center. The new date is February 21, 2009. We do believe that the Bergen PAC will refund anyone who can no longer make the show. Here’s the statement that came in today:

“We regret that we have to move the Bergen PAC date again, but those of you that know Kevin, realize this has never happened before. Due to the editing and release schedule of Z&M, we are going to have to move the show to Feb 21, 2009. For those of you with tickets to the show, please call the box office at 201-227-1030 for more info on how to exchange your tickets for the show. Again we regret the inconvenience.”

Hopefully everyone understands here, the flicks are the bread and butter, so we’re sure that the reschedule has to do with getting the best possible flick out to us this Fall, on time and in fantastic shape. We’ll keep you posted on any further details and other chances to see Kevin live. Looks like there will be quite a few across the country in the second half of 2008 and early 2009.

Kevin Appearing @ The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, AB Canada

April 29th @ 10:10 am | No Comments » | Scooped by

  • Ticket watch! While tix have not officially yet gone on sale, or these shows officially announced anywhere, we’ve just received inside info on two NEW Kevin Smith bookings that we think some of you folks.

First up – On Tuesday, September 30th, Kevin returns to the Great White North! He’ll appear live at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, AB Canada.

As previously announced, on November 7th, the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ will be jammin’ once again when Kevin returns home for what we’re sure will be another sold out show. Tix are now available for online purchase at the Basie box office.

Then, on January 24, 2009, Kevin comes to The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, CT.

Again, no further details at this time, but we did want to get the early word out on these shows. Once we have them set in stone along with ticket purchase information, we’ll have it all right here at News Askew. Oh, and we’re also hoping to have an official reschedule date for that Bergen Q&A soon, as well. Stay tuned.
