  • The ultimate in hate reviews for Jay & Bob has finally come out – The famous CAP Alert review. We first found these guys during Dogma, which probably game some of them heart attacks. Their job is basically to police movies and list everything in them that goes against the Christian way. Thank goodness we have a free country and don’t have people like this dictating what we can and can’t see. This review is a real gem though, one of the best moments reveals: “Restricted movies typically require two to three recording logs-this movie took five.” You can also now urge folks to check out the film to hear “at least 224 uses of the most foul of the foul words”. Read all the scripture and propaganda HERE.
  • Want to own a BIG piece of View Askew History? How about the van that carried Jay, Bob, and the girls around in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back? Online auction site BidBay is currently offering the actual van to the highest bidder. It’s currently going for $7,500 but hasn’t got a bid yet. Read all about it HERE!
  • The FanFiction website, under its movies section, has quite a few fan-written pieces devoted to Kevin’s films. If you’re into that sort of stuff, surf over and see what folks have done with Kevin’s ideas.

  • Well, we haven’t checked in with one of these in a while so we figured we’d just say “hey”. Things have still been quite busy this week, whether that’s still because of the movie or just the new way things will be around here remains to be seen. We’ll keep working to get all of this stuff online as soon as possible for ya.

Jay & Silent Bob continues to bring in some decent money, and is still playing in theaters everywhere, so be sure to spread the word or catch it up on the big screen again while you still have the chance. We’ve got a story today on the latest box office. Also, news on “A Better Place”, our chatroom, and a TON of interesting NewsBites that you don’t wanna miss. Check out today’s update, and thanks as always for stopping in:

J&SBSB Box Office UPDATE…

August 29th, 2001 @ 11:26 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Jim Austin, Brandon Gray, Glass, Roosta, Sunita Sharma, Alonso Duralde

  • According to IMDB, Jay and Silent Bob Strike back had the HIGHEST per-screen average box office this past weekend. J&SBSB earned $3,985.00 per screen while American Pie 2 earned $3,965.00 per screen. So, chances are if Jay & Bob were on the same amount of screens as Pie, it could have taken the #1 spot. Of course, Pie was on over 3,300 screens, a really crazy number. In Canada, the film came in at #5 last week.

Box Office Mojo is tracking the flick’s daily box office, including percent changes in business.

Yahoo Movies reports that Jay & Bob moved up to Number TWO after Monday’s box office takings. The gap between it and American Pie 2 is roughly $40,000, a far cry from the $1.5 million over the weekend! Cumulative total: Almost $12.3 million after 4 days.

This weekend, the new blood comes from Lion’s Gate’s “O”, which we actually screened last night and dug, as well as Jeepers Creepers, which promises a return to the horror genre in its purest form. Both flicks will likely bring in some crowds, but they also cater to different audiences than J&SBSB, so expect Jay & Bob to bring in some more cash as well, especially if the word of mouth from last weekend carries on.

Help Support “A Better Place”!

August 29th, 2001 @ 11:26 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Vincent Pereira, Ted Hurliman & Cobain4Ever

  • Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Vincent Pereira’s “A Better Place” is now available on Synapse DVD, and those who have seen it have all been blown away. Film Threat’s Chris Gore recently praised the disc, along with several other reputable online sites which you’ll see in Vincent’s post below. Our review of the disc appears HERE.

Anyway, Vincent’s now on a campaign to get the disc in more stores nationwide, and he needs your help! Here’s his post letting you know what you can do to support this excellent title and get it in as many stores as possible:

So a lot of you are having a hard time finding A BETTER PLACE on DVD. The problem is it’s a small title that didn’t get a theatrical release, and even though it’s getting great reviews and people dig it, it’s not known, so a lot of these big places aren’t stocking it. And, barring any massive promotion which Don May and Synapse really can’t afford, a lot of Synapse’s subdistributors- the companies that actually sell the units to the major chains and stores- can’t really push the title. So, here’s where you come in.

I need you, the fans, to go into these stores- the Suncoasts, the Coconuts, the Best Buys- and ASK for the title to be stocked. If they can’t find it in their system, here’s a list of the sub-distributors that Synapse Films sells their DVDs to. Remember, these are the distribution companies that actually sell the DVDs to the stores (for example, Suncoast buys their stuff from both Image and Ventura), and odds are that the store in your area buys from one of these guys and thus will be able to stock the title, and if there is recognized interest from people coming in and asking for the title, they will likely break down and order it and stock it, which helps me and helps you, the fanbase who wants to see the film. So, here’s that list:

Companies that distribute Synapse Films DVDs to stores:

Ventura— note, this is the distributor that stocks Hollywood Video!!!
Image
Valley Media
CAV Networks
Norwalk
Baker & Taylor
W.I.T.
Vid Canada
Dutch East Trading

So, go into your local chain stores and ask whoever is in charge of buying to stock A BETTER PLACE. Go prepared with this list of distributors that they can buy it from, and hell, even print out the many rave reviews the DVD has gotten and give them to the buyer as incentive! Mention that it’s a View Askew title with an introduction by Kevin Smith and Scott Moseir. Really, Synapse Films is a small company, and while the DVD is selling extremely well for them, it’s not getting the market penetration that a huge company like Anchor Bay can get for even the most obscure of titles, and A BETTER PLACE is damn well better and more appealing than a lot of Anchor Bay’s stuff! If a lot of you guys and girls go out and really ask for the title and are armed with the proper info and the good reviews, we might be able to really help this title explode into the marketplace! So, what do you all say? Will you all help us out on this?

As for places where you should be able to find the title, here’s a lowdown of stores that are almst guaranteed to stock it:

Virgin
Tower
HMV
Dave’s Laser Place
QED Laser Place in Westmont, IL
Kims Video

On-line reatilers who carry it (note- some of these have it listed as “Better Place”, not “A Better Place”):

Jay & Silent Bob’s Secret Stash
Amazon
CD Now
Buy.com
DVD Planet

Pretty much any on-line retailer should have it, either listed as A BETTER PLACE, or BETTER PLACE.

Thanks folks, let’s hope this helps A BETTER PLACE hit more stores!

Vincent

  • Last minute appearance! Kevin will appear on Live with Regis & Kelly TOMORROW, Thursday, August 30th! As it’s a live appearance, it should be a lot of fun. We’ll have all the details and hopefully a live capture of this for ya online tomorrow.
  • J&SBSB Soundtrack Update: The soundtrack will be at #28 on the Billboard chart this week, jumping up about 35% from last week. It looks like last week’s sales were 45,532, up from 27,582 last week. Also, don’t forget, Afroman’s full-length record “The Good Times” is in stores as of yesterday!
  • Here’s a new interview with Kevin that appeared in yesterday’s Dallas Morning News. Here’s a preview:
“I just felt like it was time to get while the getting was good. Over the course of the last four movies, people have really grown to love the characters,” he says. “Sooner or later, there will be backlash, and I would hate to see that happen to a couple of characters that people seem to dearly love at this point. It just felt like it was right to kind of push back from the table before we overate, so to speak.”

Still, it’s hard to say goodbye, and Mr. Smith says he’ll miss the guys.

“Oh, absolutely. I’ll miss writing for Jay’s character. It’s great to write a creature of the id, a creature that has no filter, somebody that just speaks as they think,” he says. “That’s kind of liberating, because you don’t get to do that much in real life. I’ll definitely miss writing for him, but I won’t miss putting on that coat.”

  • A followup to that “Starwoids” story from yesterday: Kevin does not narrate the entire film, but does appear in an interview and provide narration at the beginning. Fans are saying it’s a very entertaining documentary, and well recommended for Star Wars fans. The DVD will be released in October of this year and will include a lot of deleted footage, commentary and more. Check out the official site HERE.
  • FameTracker, the self-proclaimed “Farmer’s Alamac Of Celebrity Worth”, gives their “fame audit” of Kevin in their update today. Their nutshell opinion: “Kevin Smith is as famous as he should be. But Kevin Smith should be more famous than he is.” Read all of it HERE.
  • New online polls: www.moviequotequiz.com has a poll for the best sequel of 2001 and J&SBSB’s one of the choices. Also, J&SBSB is a choice on this AOL Poll asking what film that viewers plan to see this coming weekend.
  • The Chasing Amy Region 4 DVD is out in Australia…But get this…It’s got NO extras, only in pan & scan, and costs $40! Ouch. Makes ya glad to be in region one.
  • While You Were Sleeping magazine features Jay & Silent Bob as Garbage Pail Kids (of all things) illustrated on the cover of their latest issue, along with a preview of the full story at their website which discusses one of the cuts Kevin had to make to Jay & Bob to get the “R” rating.
  • Cinescape has the “Top 10 Real Reasons GLAAD is upset over Kevin Smith’s JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK” featured currently. It can be found on the lower right-hand corner of the site, near the bottom of the page.
  • Apparently The Phantom Editor, that dude who created the now widely bootlegged “Phantom Edit” of Star Wars, met with Kevin on the set of J&SBSB. Details are at his site.
  • It was worth waiting for! DVD File reports:
“Just announced for 12/4, DreamWorks will be releasing the long-awaited extended cut of Cameron Crowe’s rock epic Almost Famous. Entitled Almost Famous Untitled: The Bootleg Cut this 3-disc set includes both the new 159-minute cut of the film on disc one, with the original theatrical cut on disc two. Extras on the first disc also include a new audio commentary with Crowe, a Lester Bangs interview on the BBC; the “Stairway To Heaven” deleted scene with commentary; Stillwater’s Cleveland concert excerpt and the original theatrical trailer. Text extras include Cameron Crowe’s top 10 albums of 1973, the Rolling Stone articles as seen on the original release, and the film’s complete screenplay available to DVD-ROM enabled users. The third disc is a CD with six Stillwater songs from the film, some never before released. Retail for this puppy is only $34.95.”

Tribune: “‘He’s one of us”

August 28th, 2001 @ 5:22 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • This Chicago Tribune piece is just so damn good that we figured we’d bump it up to a headline and put a local copy here for all of you to read. This is one of the best pieces on Kevin we’ve read lately, and really sums up how focused he is on fans like us. Check it out:
‘He’s one of us’

Kevin Smith, a.k.a. `Silent Bob,’ is no slacker when it comes to fans

Robert K. Elder, Tribune staff reporter
Published August 28, 2001

More than 2,000 people are waiting outside the speaking hall in Rosemont, but the 700 inside aren’t budging.

Many of the fans at the Wizard World comic book convention have sat through three panel discussions in the same room for a chance to see Kevin Smith — writer/director of “Chasing Amy,” “Dogma” and the new “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” and writer of comics such as Daredevil and Green Arrow — and they aren’t about to give up their spots.

“He’s a typical guy, but he’s got this hard-core, dedicated following,” says Wizard Con organizer Jim McLauchlin during the melee.

Comic book conventions, in large part, are about communing with fantasies — getting closer to the people behind Spider-Man, Batman and other superfolk.

As odd as it sounds, Smith — wearing jeans shorts and a faded gray sweatshirt — is a flesh-and-blood superhero to them: He makes movies, he writes comic books, he got married and had a daughter whom he and his wife named after a Batman character (Harley Quinn Smith, age 2) (this sentence as published has been corrected in this text).

But as Smith’s cult status rises and his life changes, it has become hard for him to connect with fans.

After his panel discussion is over, Smith begins to walk the floor, where he is mobbed by admirers and seems obsessively compelled to please everyone. He poses for pictures, signs endless autographs, and videotapes intros to people’s Web sites — almost anything he is asked. When security guards ask him if he wants to move on, he says, “No, I can’t leave now.” (Later, Smith comments: “I don’t feel right about leaving people there with stuff unsigned; it wouldn’t feel right. Catholic guilt.”)

“The artist throws art out to an audience to communicate — you’re throwing a message out there to see if anyone understands, listens, agrees,” Smith says. “You do it essentially, I believe on one level, to ensure that you are not alone in the world. And to have so many people say, ‘I get it,’ — there is no downside to that whatsoever.”

He continues: “And to having people go beyond ‘I get it,’ to ‘I know it, live it and can quote it back to you. Here are notes on how to make it better’–that invaluable.”

Smith, himself an ardent comic book fan, rose to fame with his low-budget 1994 smash movie “Clerks.” He financed the $27,575 effort by selling his prized comic collection and maxing out his credit cards. Today, Smith owns his own comic book store in his native Red Bank, N.J., but he still goes to conventions, only on the other side of the stage.

“He’s one of us,” says Chris Joslin, 23, of Bloomington, a fan waiting in line outside to see Smith. “He worked in a convenience store, then made movies, but he still connects with his fans.”

During his two-hour panel, the perpetually laid-back Smith regales the crowd with behind-the-scenes movie anecdotes and sets them rolling in the aisles with off-color jokes.

Among the strange questions he responds to without complaint are these: “I invited you to my bar mitzvah, why didn’t you come?” “Do you have a stalker? If not, I have a lot of free time.”

Later, in a quiet moment, Smith actually reflects on the latter question.

“The relationship that I have with those cats — I’ll never have a stalker. A stalker is cultivated out of somebody not being available and they want to get close,” Smith says. “You can find me on the Net, you can go down to the comic book store — sometimes I’m there — I’m at comic book shows all the time. I am way available, I’m always around.”

On his Web site, www.ViewAskew.com, Smith spends hours daily reading fan feedback, posting news and writing about his passions: family, film and comics. (In addition to writing superhero books, Smith also pens his own Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob comics.) His not-so-secret e-mail address receives an average of 200 e-mails each morning, most of which Smith says he feels obligated to reply to.

Smith’s wife, Jennifer Schwalbach, says she was unprepared for the intensity of her husband’s cult following when she married him two years ago. At the San Diego International Comic Convention in July, Schwalbach had to be lifted out of the crowd by security guards after fans rushed her for movie tickets. “They are so harmless, and the sweetest people — but enthusiastic,” she says.

She has adjusted, having come to an understanding about her husband’s relationship with his audience. “He’s just a normal guy. He hasn’t changed since he worked at the Quick Stop. And people who have been following from that point are in love with him for not changing.”

His life has changed

But at age 31, Smith has changed. True, he still loves comic books, still has the sense of humor and ear for dialogue. But it has been almost a decade since Smith worked at the convenience store, and his life experience no longer reflects that of his audience. He’s one of them, and he’s not — a fact that Smith is coming to terms with.

“The trick is to never let that, the real life, intrude too far on what they perceive you to be. I made good, but it doesn’t really represent who we are now,” Smith says.

Smith — now taking a break in his hotel room, flicking cigarette ashes into a half-filled glass of Coke — talks about fans who approach him almost everywhere he goes, asking if he wants to get high. Given the drug humor in his films, he thinks it’s understandable. Unlike his screen persona, Silent Bob, Smith doesn’t smoke pot or even drink, and hasn’t for years. “You’ve never seen someone so shocked when I tell them that I don’t get high,” Smith says.

“Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” Smith’s fifth film, which opened Friday, is the last live action film to feature the drug-dealing duo who have been constants throughout his career. Jay and Silent Bob have become MTV icons, 21st Century clowns whose comic books are on display on the convention floor and whose action figures are cased in protective plastic boxes.

Smith has been closer to his audience than most artists, a film school dropout with a cult audience whose films have been equal parts pop culture references, gleeful vulgarity and social commentary.

He has made personal films about sexuality (the boy-loves-lesbian drama “Chasing Amy”) and religion (”Dogma”), but not without controversy. A practicing Catholic, Smith came under severe fire for his theological exploration — which, among other things, suggested that Mary and Joseph had children after Jesus’ birth. The Catholic League’s denunciation of “Dogma” before its 1999 release incited a media frenzy and protests at the film’s opening. A handful of death threats followed and Smith’s mail was screened for six months, in what the director remembers as “a nightmare.”

A love letter to fans

“Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” Smith says, was a consciously light film, a love letter to fans who have been clamoring for the director to give the pair their own movie. “It’s offensive to no one except people who like intelligent films,” Smith joked during the panel.

But that’s not entirely true. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has attacked the film for what it perceives to be sophomoric humor and reinforcement of negative gay stereotypes. Although Smith doesn’t agree with GLAAD’s impression, he gave $10,000 to the Matthew Shepard Foundation and included GLAAD’s phone number in the closing credits of the film.

“I know the movie is not homophobic. I know that there is an abundance of gay jokes in the film, but none of them are at the expense of the gay community,” says Smith, whose brother is gay — a fact he didn’t reveal during the controversy.

“If you can make jokes about straight sex, why can’t you make jokes about gay sex?” Smith inquired of fans during a Q&A session.

Now it’s time to move on, Smith says, blowing cigarette smoke out of the car window on his way to a charity screening of the new film.

On his plate next is an animated movie, a sequel to “Clerks” called “Clerks Sell Out,” followed by a “Fletch” movie that rejuvenates the comic detective franchise with actor Jason Lee, and a more personal film about fatherhood starring Smith-alum Ben Affleck.

Whether his fans will move with him as he abandons a cast of characters they love weighs on the director’s mind.

“Sure, but I hope they grow along with us. Not to say that we’re children and we need to grow up, but because we’ve done stuff that’s had weight to it,” Smith says. “`Chasing Amy’ and `Dogma’ were serious films. I think they’ll come with us.”

Slackers in La-La Land

Kevin Smith says this may be the last live-action go-round for the Cheech and Chong-like duo who have been a running gag through all of his films. Here then is a fond look back at the scruffy screen careers of Jay and Silent Bob, two marginal men for their times:

Clerks (1994) Portrays a madcap day in the life of Quick Stop clerk Dante Hicks and his slacker friends and eccentric customers, including a video-store clerk with a spectacularly lame work ethic. Jay and Silent Bob make their first appearance as pot dealers rooted outside.

Mallrats (1995) Two slackers (notice the developing theme), with recently broken hearts try to renew their self-esteem among the bad-mannered regulars of a mall, who include Jay and Silent Bob.

Chasing Amy (1997) A comic book artist struggles with the complicated sexual history of his new artist sweetheart. Jay and Silent Bob appear again as models for the hero’s comic book.

Dogma (1999) Two fallen angels try to get back into heaven through a loophole in the Almighty’s laws. This time, Jay and Silent Bob are prophets and, as usual, Bob is silent except to deliver a key mot.

Scream 3 (2000) The boys have a cameo role as comic relief on a grisly studio lot in this non-Kevin Smith film. (Smith says he and Jason Mewes especially enjoyed the free shirt and $300 they got from Wes Craven for the gig.)

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) The dynamic duo return yet again with a plot to destroy a Hollywood film based on their comic book lives.

“Starwoids” DVD Featuring Kevin?

August 28th, 2001 @ 12:28 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • An anonymous scooper tells us that Kevin will narrate and appear in this upcoming DVD that explores the Star Wars phenomenon, “Starwoids”. It seems the same company that’s slated to release Drawing Flies later this year is also working on this one. Here’s his story:
I work for a DVD authoring house and we just received a rush order to author a DVD for a film titled Starwoids that is narrated by Kevin Smith. The film is a documentary about Star Wars fans and according to these notes, won the Nodance Film Festival, and played the San Diego Comic-Con. The company putting it out is IndieDVD, a guy named Jonah is in charge of the project. They are trying to get everything done in time for the “Star Wars Phantom Menace release on DVD” but in the video business they don’t have very much time to market it. We’re usually done three months before the product is available and Oct. 9th is just around the corner. From what I’ve seen the documentary is hilarious and it features an great interview with Kevin Smith about why he’s obsessed with Star Wars.

The film follows two lines that form 42 days before the tickets to Star Wars Episode One, go on sale. In those 42 days mini governments form to stave off the Police who try to shut it all down. One line forms outside of the Mann’s Chinese theater and that line gets the support of dot-com money and soon becomes a circus. Another line is formed by a high school kid who gets his High School equivalency test just to stay in line. The two lines compete with each other and themselves throughout the film. The film also takes sideways trips into total obsession, from rapping Boba Fetts, to people getting trampled on the first day the toys are for sale. One group tries to sneak onto Skywalker Ranch and a fan takes his toys out to the original Star Wars locations. Uncle Owen’s even in it!

The film is great, I just hope that they don’t shoot themselves in the foot by not having enough time to get it on the shelves. I think this is newsworthy, I just thought that you might want the first word on it, I know you like to have insider information whenever possible.

If anyone’s got any confirmation or official news on this, let us know!

  • Could it be…A sooner UK release date for Jay & Silent Bob? According to Buena Vista UK, the official UK distributors of J&SBSB, the UK release date is, at the moment, November 30th, NOT Dec 21st as mentioned on the Internet MovieDatabase. Apparently, it never has been Dec 21 – that was an invention. The first official release date given is November 30th. Good news for those of you across the pond.
  • A couple more articles of interest: First this, new Chicago Tribune article called “He’s One Of Us” discusses Kevin’s dedication to the fans. Check it out, it’s one of the better articles we’ve read lately.

Also, there’s this piece from the International Herald Tribune, which is a combination of the Washington Post, the New York Times, and AP/Reuters wire, and the most respected American newspaper abroad.

  • Last night, Extra ran a story on J&SBSB. They mentioned it’s number three spot and that it made a big impact at the box office this weekend. The cast was mentioned, along with Kevin’s other films. If anyone caught it on tape and can send us a capture, let us know.
  • Alternative star Moby gives Jay & Bob a BIG thumbs up at his official website this week. Here’s his thoughts:
so let’s talk about culture, ok?

high culture. fine art. fine film. a fine film on the surface of a pond.

i just saw what is without question the best movie of the year, ‘jay and silent bob strike back.’ i haven’t laughed that much in a long, long time. so, karmically, kevin smith has done a good thing in that laughter strengthens peoples immune systems. so he has contributed to my health and well-being.

‘jay and silent bob’ is outstanding. flawed, of course, but charming for its flaws. but so funny. -moby

  • Here’s that scan of the ad that replaces Lee and Ferrell with Eliza Dushku and Ali Larter. Looks like a quick change just for the print ads, so we doubt there’s another one sheet that exists in this fashion.
  • Mallrats, Dogma, Clerks, and Chasing Amy are all on the top 10 list of quotes pages listed at the IMDB (the first three being in the top 3 spots)! Lots of fans here on the net for sure.
  • DVD supersite dvd.ign.com asked top reviewers what they think should be the definitive DVDs for budding filmmakers, and two critics list various Kevin films (both Clerks and Clerks Uncensored) in their top five choices. Check out the full story HERE. IGN Filmforce also mentions the film today, in their poll “What’s the best road trip comedy of the past 20 years?” Jay & Bob currently lead the way.

Kevin: “Close, But No Cigar”..

August 27th, 2001 @ 7:53 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Kevin Smith

  • Kevin checked in today with his thoughts on the weekend and J&SBSB’s performance. Looks like good news and smiling faces all around. Here’s Kevin:
Close, But No Cigar…

First off, the day we mourn an 11.1 million dollar opening is the day I want out of this business.

Yes – first place would’ve been nice. Shit, it was almost do-able. But it wasn’t in the cards, apparently, and that’s okay. Opening to double digits with a movie this inside is a-okay in my book.

And the real tale, anyway, will be told next week. Let’s just pray it doesn’t repeat the ‘Dogma’ second week drop (51%), and instead, hold in there with a 30% or less drop.

But remove the figures and all (because, let’s face it – the movie’s going to make it’s money back and then some; especially with video) and concentrate on what really matters…

Were you entertained?

I’ve been combing through the last few boards (good Lord, we’re going through them quickly lately, aren’t we?), and the majority of you were, indeed, happy with the flick. Some cats weren’t (hey, what do you want me to say? No flick’s for everyone), but largely, folks dug it. That makes us here at the home office very happy.

Many thanks to those who did double and triple duty (hell, even single duty). You’re posters are waiting for you when you send in your stubs.

If you feel so inclined, hit the flick again next weekend. That’d be nice.

So please – no long faces. We’ve done well. I’m happy. Very, very happy.

And while it was nice to have the number one movie in the country for a night, to be honest, it didn’t alter my existence. All I cared about was if you guys dug the flick, and beyond that, if *I* dug the flick.

And I did. Very much. Always have, and always will.

But now it’s no rest for the weary, and right back to the drawing board. If all goes smoothly, we’ll be shooting again in Feb/March – just as ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’ should be hitting the video stores (unless Bob decides to go for the Christmas release).

And then, of course, there’s the cartoon flick next year.

Which, if you think this movie was for the fans…

Hoo-boy, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Jennifer also checked in with a personal thanks to all of you:

Hi Board,

Sending out a huge thanks to all of you for the amazing support this past weekend. You already know how proud I am of Kevin, but he really out did himself this time. Under the pressure of his largest budget (coupled with even larger expectations of turning a hefty profit), he made the movie that he wanted to make. He didn’t sell out to win over the masses, but instead he put his heart into making you, his fans, laugh. For this and a million other reasons he doesn’t need to top the box office to be #1 in my book.

Love, Jennifer

Thanks from all of us to Kevin, Jennifer and the entire View Askew crew for putting together a great flick that, regardless of any kind of money it ends up taking in, was truly a film for the fans and appreciated by us all. Congrats!
