- Auctions Askew returns with new items this week, right on cue — And if you love Mooby, this is the week for you. This lovable mascot has been with us since “Dogma”, but appeared front and center for a good portion of “Clerks II” — Now, the online Stash features quite a bit of this mascot as well. But wouldn’t you love something that’s ONLY YOURS? Yes, these one-of-a-kind Mooby items appeared onscreen, and can’t be bought anywhere else. And man, would they look cool in your office, rec room, or just on display anywhere you put your ultra-cool collectibles.
So, this week, get your bidding fingers ready — You can own several Mooby props including our fave of the week – The actual letters from the first-ever “Mooby’s” created – From the “Dogma” location! Imagine how cool it’d be to put that up on a wall or above a door somewhere? Too cool. As always, this stuff comes with a signed certificate of authenticity from Kevin Smith, so if anyone questions the rareness of the stuff, you’ve got the proof.
Head on over to Auctions Askew and bid smart! Good luck to all our readers in this week’s round!

See The “Spaced” Invasion At Laser Blazer!
- For those of us not lucky enough to attend, Ron from Laser Blazer has taken video from last week’s huge “Spaced” DVD signing, placing 6 minutes of nicely edited footage of the event front and center on the site’s home page. Meet some of the fans who traveled from across the country to meet Edgar, Simon and Jessica, see the sprawling line, and of course, footage from inside the Secret Stash and Laser Blazer. As always, our man Ron’s got things nicely packaged with music, clips, montages, and more. Check out the inside of one of the coolest geek stores in all the land. Well worth your precious browser time. Enjoy.
Auctions Askew – Back For TWO MONTHS!
- Auctions Askew, the only website in the world where you can own authentic, one of a kind (or close to it) props used in all of View Askew’s films. Own a piece of View Askew history and display it proudly, making your friends and family insanely jealous. This stuff is always so cool we wish we could just buy it all right up. But we can’t. That’s where you come in. All you do is put in a bid, and hope that others don’t bid higher than you do. The stuff goes to the highest bidder at the end of each bidding period. Most of this stuff won’t ever be back (since there’s only one of it, usually), so make sure you bid enough to nab it. Or live in regret!
This week, there’s quite a range of items. Screen used Mooby meal items, which we saw in person on the Clerks II set and can attest are quite nifty and impressive to show off. And the official Mooby’s flag seen in the film (our favorite this week). The cow tipper poster would look hilarious in your rec room at home, ready for framing! And, of course, that VERY rare and cool Brodie sign, which we’re betting will be the big ticket item of the bunch. For beautiful, full color large photos, descriptions, and to make a bid, visit Auctions Askew. Watch it though, one of these weeks we’re just not going to be able to resist bidding on something for ourselves. It’s great to see these icons making their way into the hands of the fans, though, so enjoy.
We hear that Auctions Askew will return once a week with new items for the next TWO MONTHS! Good news if you’re waiting for that something special. Over the next two months, we’ll offer up props dating from “Chasing Amy” all the way to the present. Don’t miss your chance to own a part of View Askew. Visit Auctions Askew and register to bid today. Good luck to all!

- San Diego Con Panel Update! We’ve just received word from the Spike TV people that Thursday’s panel, ‘Scream’ Like a Girl, is now confirmed for 4:45 p.m. to 5:45. They’re moving to a bigger room as they’re expecting quite a crowd for this one. As always, when you get to the Con in a couple weeks, double check the time and place of where you want to go, as there are sometimes last-minute moves. Man, do we need to get to San Diego’s Con one of these years.
- We’re told that Clerks II Mooby box is indeed popping up at a few other Best Buy locations in the country — So look around, as $12.99 for that collector’s item is a steal — A great item for Kevin and crew to sign, and also something (as far as we know, at least) that remains a Best Buy exclusive, so you can’t get it anywhere else. Worth picking up even for those of you already with the disc. The website also has limited copies. My meal is upstairs in the shrink wrap, of course — Gotta keep it collectible!
- And hey, while you’re online shopping, don’t forget to check out the latest Stash items, including that Monroeville Jersey that we’re hearing is selling as fast as they can be made, so BUY SOON – Don’t wait. Also, visit the sponsor that makes SModcast possible, ThinkGeek, a website which go much great stuff you’ll want one of everything — They’ve had items on our Christmas lists for years. Thanks, ThinkGeek!
- The cast of “My Name Is Earl” participated on last night’s edition of “Celebrity Family Feud” — They did things a bit different for the show, though, actually staying IN CHARACTER unlike other celebs who have been, well, themselves. It of course made for some hilarious moments (particularly the introductions). Earl and friends faced some of Camden County’s most memorable, led by the great Tim Stack. Unfortunately, we didn’t see Lee and Ethan get a ton of lines or camera time, but that’s game shows for ya. Miss it? Watch it now for FREE on Hulu!

- AV Club features the great “Dogma” in their list of “16 Protested Movies”. Their intriguing list features a write-up and a clip from each of the listed. Here’s what they say about Kev’s 4th:
“Writer-director Kevin Smith is a practicing Catholic who, like a lot of religious filmmakers, tends to work out issues of faith on film. But some of the faithful, spurred on by the Catholic League, weren’t amused by Kevin Smith’s 1999 film Dogma, a profanity-rich satire of contemporary religion that went through two release dates and two distributors before debuting in a hailstorm of protests, including one group of New Jersey picketers joined by an incognito Smith himself. The film was released to considerable success, and the Catholic Church somehow survived.” - Bodyboarder Rex Moribe mentions Kevin in a couple answers for a “25 Questions” spot in the new Bodyboarder Magazine. Check out questions #18 and #23. Scan’s above!
- Buddy Christ’s showing up once again on the web this week — He appears on a television at Cracked.com for a blog post on “20 Jobs Too Awesome To Exist”. Check out item #7 there.
- And last, but certainly NOT least — We can now confirm that our personal favorite View Askew item of all time, the Monroeville Zombies Hockey Jersey, has officially arrived! Those of you who have preordered will be first in line and get your shipments soon. If you live in the area of Laser Blazer in Los Angeles, Ron confirms that they’ve got them in stock in ALL SIZES inside the store in Secret Stash West. We imagine the Red Bank Stash also has these fine items in stock as well. If you buy one View Askew item this year (or even 5 or 10), make it this brilliant item, soon to be seen onscreen in “Zack & Miri Make a Porno”, even sooner on this webmaster’s back! Order online now or visit Stash West & East. Enjoy the weekend! See ya back here soon, and even sooner if breaking news occurs.

The GREATEST Auctions Askew Items. EVER.
- Kevin posts to his usual haunts today of a Myspace tragedy that you might have read about in the news and shares his thoughts. You can read the blog entry titled “Parental Guiadance Suggested” for more on that note. So, that’s the sad news, but here’s the big news — Auctions Askew has joined forces with Profiles In History, the largest online movie pop auction company. Starting this Friday, December 14th, at 2:00 PM EST, you will have the chance to put in bids on what has to be the most amazing list of View Askew prop history we have EVER seen. Ever. This is truly an amazing array, folks. We’re talking that famous tanktop that Rosario wore in Clerks II. Yeah, that one. Or how about Eliza Dushku’s catsuit from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back? Ben & Matt’s “Dogma” duds? That’s just for starters. In addition to the amazing clothing choices, the props are among the best and most memorable that we’ve ever seen.
From Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, there’s the “ET” bike. The Blutman & Chronic marquee (man, would that look AWESOME in my gameroom). The Potzers Inc sign from Holden’s new office building. A bloodied up Mooby poster from the Dogma boardroom scene. We’re talking major WOW factor here, folks. These aren’t items that were off to the side of the screen. This stuff was seen, plain as day, used all OVER the place in the flicks. You will truly own a one-of-a-kind, jealously-inducing prop from some of the funniest films ever made. This is a big chance, and it’s likely the best lot of merch we’ll ever see from View Askew at one time. It’s the holidays, folks — If you’ve been saving up for something or plan on a windfall from grandma come the end of the month, it’s time to get those bidding fingers ready.
See the full list of goodies at the official Profiles Auction page at View Askew. You’ll see a long list, complete with photos and descriptions, of everything being offered. Direct bidding links for each item are located there as well. You’ll need to register through ebay’s live auctions site to bid, but it’s free, so get going. Don’t miss out on this one. We won’t. Must…bid….on….everything!
Good luck to you all — And if any of our wonderful readers are lucky enough to score something, drop us a line and let us know of your new prize possession. Happy bidding.

- A fairly amusing Photoshop job of Jay and Bob as Jedis appears at this contest over at the Worth1000 website. We believe you need to register with the website to view other entries, so we’ve just put the fan-crafted photo here.
