Chasing Amy Release Info…

November 13th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Just to clear a few things up, Chasing Amy WILL be out on video on Novemeber 25th, as this site reported from the very beginning. The kickass Criterion LD release WAS scheduled for December 10th, but we’ve just heard from an inside source that that’s been pushed back to Tuesday, January 7th, 1998. Sorry to report that, but that’s just what Criterion does. Believe us, we’re JUST as upset as you are. Anyway, back to the video release: Our local BlockBuster video will be getting a whopping 33 COPIES, so you shouldn’t have much trouble finding it for rental. This is pretty unheard of for a 12 million dollar film, but a good sign for sure! Finally, this tape will NOT be available for sale for at least 6 months, most likely. So just rent it and enjoy, or wait for the laser!

“Good Will Hunting” Review (Minor Spoilers)…

November 12th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

Anyway I saw the new “Godzilla” preview when I saw a sneak screening of “GOOD WILL HUNTING” (can’t tell location b/c you know how it is) anyway. The Trailer wouldn’t have been suspicious if you hadnt posted the description, but at first i didnt recognize it but it looks like The “Independence Day” team has another mega hit on their hands. Getting to GOOD WILL HUNTING, Gus Van Sant did an excellent job with the film, and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s script was great.

The film is one that makes you want to not like the main character played by Damon named Will Hunting. But as Will makes friends with his new physchiatrist played by Robin Williams we start to open up to him and eventually you feel for how everyone doesn’t undertsand him. You see Will is a genius.

Well anyway I thought you might like to know about it. This is like one of those sleeper films that will probably get looked over at the Oscars(TM) but it has best picture potential. In closing The film is great and Godzilla looks great as well.

VulgarThon 2: What ELSE We Know…

November 12th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Just a few things have come to light since we posted yesterday’s blurb on the event. First of all, NO, we have NO IDEA when tickets will go on sale, all we said was just speculation. Johny just sent me a message saying that Oz was pretty sure that there would be notice before tickets went on sale, and they wouldn’t just pop up outta nowhere. ALSO, Kevin has CONFIRMED that January 5, 1998 will be the official date of VulgarThon, so mark your calendars NOW!

State Of The Askewniverse

November 12th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • There’s been quite a few questions on the boards lately about what’s going on with the “offshoot” projects of View Askew. Vincent was kind enough to post a summary about what’s been going on, and we think it’s both interesting and informative. Give it a read:
The fact is, Miramax has first look on ALL View Askew Productions- basically, that means they get the first option on distribution. They’ve already looked at “DRAWING much every day, and BHD director Brian Lynch stops by sometimes as well, so we tend to give out lots of info on the project.

Both films are progressing quite nicely through editing, I assure you. VULGAR finished it’s first cut last week, and came in at about 105-mintues or so- not bad for a first edit. BIG HELIUM DOG is about halfway through editing, and it’s running time for the first cut is working out to be almost exactly one page to one minute (the shooting script is 94 pages).

Kevin will be doing a Q&A at a “Chasing Amy” screening on Tuesday, Nov. 18th at the Hoboken Elks Club on 10th and Washington. Tix are $10 and the show begins at 8:00. I tried to call the place to find out info about the theatre, but the phone number was out of order.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. Go see Kevin live! You won’t be sorry. $10 is a small price to pay. If you have the means, we highly recommend attending.

VulgarThon: What WE Know, So Far…

November 11th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

For $40, you’ll get admission to the whole shabang and an exclusive limited edition t-shirt that you’ll wear as your “ticket” to the event.

Hope that clears it up and answers all your questions! Now, you know JUST as much as we do! Hope to see you at VulgarThon ’98!

Kevin Speaks Out On VulgarThon ’98!

November 10th, 1997 @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Well, the silence has been broken, at least somewhat. VulgarThon ’98 (previously known as “Five Flicks For Forty Bucks”, and, before that, simply “The Gala”), was discussed on the board in a recent post from Kevin. Here’s the text:
The Vulgar-thon is limited to 270 seats, folks, and unlike the ‘Amy’ gala we had months back, this is not limited to heavy posters or even board voyeurs.

The tix are going to be on sale for forty eight hours only, to be purchased via a hotline number (which means credit card payments only – no exceptions). There aren’t going to be any tickets – there will be t-shirts you’ll receive that act as your pass instead (a t-shirt that’s limited to this event only, so it’s also what the anal retentive refer to as a limited edition collector’s item). We’re looking at a first call/first serve system here, so please – no hurt feelings or complaints if you don’t get any tix.

It’s a pretty packed day (with Q&A between each flick, and an hour dinner break around four or five), so be prepared to sit for a loooooooong time.

We’ll be announcing when to call by mid-month, via a page dedicated to the event.

There seems to be some concern about getting tickets. Most likely, tickets will be limited to 2 or 3 per person, at least this is what we’re assuming. That’ll keep folks from snatching them all up, at least at the beginning. I’m sure that you’ll get tix as long as you’re not out of town that week and check our site and the boards daily. As for us, we’ll see ya there! Watch our site for the latest info on the event. Thanks to Ben Miller and frosty for the scoop!
