Kevin even takes time to think of us when he’s out of town…He managed to grab hold of a WebTV box in a Circuit City store out in LA, and made this post:
So I’m in a Circuit City in greater Los Angeles, and what do they have on display for the testing, but WebTV. Naturally, I see an opportunity, and I take it.
All’s well here, but I am looking forward to my Tuesday morning return. I’ll be bringing with me tales from the set of ‘Armageddon’, tales from a night on the town with Chris Rock, tales from a meeting with George Carlin, and sundry other exploits that have made this a tolerable trip.
And I gotta tell you, this ‘Dogma’ picture… it’s REALLY shaping up nicely (news on that front as well).
‘Til Tuesday…
Sounds like we’ll (hopefully) have some good stuff for ya tomorrow! Stay tuned!

We mentioned this briefly in passing on the site a while back, but it’s a neat little blurb, so here’s excerpts from Spin’s Indie 50 article. Check it out:
“The Spindie 50” from the 2/97 issue of Spin
17. Ben Affleck
Rating: 8.41
Last Year’s Rank: 31
Previous Work: Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, Dazed and Confused.
Next Projects: Dogma, Armageddon
Indie Cred: is a writer, sort of; got his start on a PBS series (The Voyage of the Mimi)
However: too cute, occasional goatee; New York Times Magazine cover boy; Armageddon is basically Independence Day 2
Comments: indie, for now
18. Kevin Smith
Rating: 8.36
Last Year’s Rank: 15
Previous Work: Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, Clerks
Next Project: Dogma
Indie Cred: owns a comic book store in his hometown (in Jersey); wants to”breathe new life into the Fletch film series”
Power Cred: full beard
However: Movies about good-looking bisexual chicks are about as indie as the Verve Pipe.
Comments: digs Web porn

“Overnight Delivery” hits video shelves on March 24th. Yikes. Some studios will release ANYTHING on videocassette. You’ve been warned.
Finally today, a humorous little line found by Michael T. Williams on Yahoo’s Notable Quotes Newswire:
“I have a slim chance of getting a screenplay nomination, but I would die happy if I got one. It would cut down on the amount of sex I have to beg for.”
— Filmmaker KEVIN SMITH, on the Oscar chances of “Chasing Amy”.

Well, we’re back after what we think was a much deserved weekend off. We had some cocktails and ate lots of food that was bad for us as we watched Denver upset Green Bay in a pretty darn good matchup. But now, alas, it’s Monday, back to another long week of work, and yet another week of updates of everything Askew. You’ll notice that not a whole helluva lot is going on. Funny how that happens when Kevin leaves town, isn’t it? Never fear, though, we’ll always dig up SOMETHING to keep you entertained, and Kevin will be back tomorrow with some stories from the west coast. On with the news…

Yep, he’s getting closer to becoming a household name, folks. Ben Affleck’s in the spotlight again for hitting the cover of this month’s issue of GQ. We don’t have a scan of the cover, or the actual article, so if someone wants to transcribe it or send the pic to us, we’ll get it online for ya!
