Renée Humphrey Interview

Future Pulitzer Prize winner Mike McCarthy has come through yet again with another amazing interview with Renée Humphrey – aka Trish the Dish. Read all about her past and present projects, her experiences while filming Mallrats, Fun and Drawing Flies, and much much much much more. Yet another thorough and very interesting interview by Mr McCarthy. [Read it all here…]
  • Apparently, there’s quite a fuss going on over at the misc.writing.screenplays newsgroup online. They’re bashing the Dogma script and Kevin in general. Frankly, we could care less really what others are saying on newsgroups, so we weren’t going to mention this, but we’ve gotten quite a few mails on the subject asking for reinforcements over there…So if anyone wants to go help fight the good fight, stop on over.
  • Kevin’s listed in the new issue of Movieline (Aug. 1998) in their annual “100 Dumbest Things Hollywood’s Done Lately.”
30. In accepting his Independent Spirit Best Screenplay award for Chasing Amy, Kevin Smith said, “This is for every chick who said I had a small…is this being televised?”

Hmmm…Apparently they didn’t get the joke…Or they’re JOKING about Kev’s joke…Anyway…

  • E! Online recently conducted a rather extensive Q & A session with our own Ben Affleck. You can read the entire transcript HERE.
  • As Chasing Amy is set for a July release in Japan, word is that a manga (comic) is being written based on the movie by one of the most popular shojo-manga (girl’s comic) writers in Japan, Momoko Anno. No word on a release in the states. We’ll do our best to get our hands on a copy of the book. Hello, Japan??? Are you listening? Help us out!
  • Lots of View Askew stuff appears in issue #1287 of the Comic Buyers Guide (dated July 17). Here’s the details:
The cover has a drawing of Jay and Silent Bob with Suzanne (holding a gun) and they re-enacting the charlie’s angels pose (I believe). On the side it says Jay and Silent Bob: Monkey Around.

Inside it has a three-page spread of info from 32-34. A large article on how Jay and Silent Bob got to have a cult-following, numerous pictures, and a semi-large article on how Kevin views himself. Also, on 36, it has a blurb on Oni Press that largely refers to Clerks and the Double Feature.

  • Today’s Previews magazine shows a new Jay & Silent Bob T-shirt by Duncan Fegredo that features Jay & Silent Bob posing with the monkey from Mallrats…We’ll work on details on how you can get your mitts on one, if the Stash doesn’t have them already.
  • Finally today, a little clip from Pauline Kael that appeared in Newsweek‘s issue on the AFI Top 100 Movies:
Newsweek: What recent movies have made you want to write about them?

Kael : … They’re all very little pictures aren’t they? I liked the first hour of “Chasing Amy”.

Whoa, don’t go out of your way and saying anything TOO nice there, Pauline.
