Kevin Updates, Info On Stash Opening…

  • Kevin stopped by the board for a quick summary post about what he’s been up to, including some Dogma looping out in CA, upcoming plans with Graphitti, and info on your chance to visit the Stash’s grand re-opening! Read on:
It’s been a long two weeks.

Just got back from LA the other night. We were out there looping some of the actors for ‘Dogma’ (Lee, Salma, Carlin, Affleck, Ethan) and dealing with some animated series stuff. I’ve also been spending time on the Bruckheimer rewrite, and finished the first part of a ‘Bluntman and Chronic’ story for the May Oni Double Feature. Also saw Bob Chapman of Graphitti Designs, to talk swag, and caught ‘A Simple Plan’ in the cinema.

Not having to catch much theatrically lately, as I’ve been deluged with Academy screener tapes, courtesy of the studios (now I can watch ‘Patch Adams’ in the comfort of my own living room, thank God).

Came home to find the new Stash almost completely done. Let me tell you – it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen outside of Disney World. Color, color, color, and lots of movie memoribilia. Can’t wait to open the doors.

Which brings me to the so-called ‘Grand Opening Gala’. Due to the size of the joint, we’re not going to be able to let more than a hundred of ya’ll come (and that’s going to be pushing it), but those that do are going to be treated to stuff most cats aren’t going to see until ‘Dogma’ is released. For that night only, we’ll have the stuff that has to do with ‘Dogma’ on display, but after that, we’re covering the stuff up with sheets (kinda like they do to the statues at church during Lent – which is a fitting metaphor, considering some of the props) until the fall. It’s going to be a rare opportunity to see the trail… er… I mean… a lot of stuff, if you catch my drift.

The plan is to put up a page with a downloadable ticket. We’ll announce the address at a certain point, and then the first hundred to download it get to come. No ticket, no admitance, no exceptions. The event itself should be happening the first week of November, so look for the ticket-thing to happen fairly soon.

We’re getting set for another test screening soon, so I’ll be on-and-off line for the next few weeks.

A shout out to NIU for the show on Tuesday. I had a great time.

We assume that “November” meant “February” (or possibly March) above…We’ll followup with a correction on that one as soon as we hear from Kevin. Sure a lot of you may be disappointed that only 100 can make it, but like Kev says, it’s gonna be rough even getting THAT many folks through the door. Hope to see you there! Stay tuned for more info.
