  • Be sure and pick up Daredevil #12 if you haven’t yet. It’s got a new story and drawing style so it’ll seem different than the others, but if you want to continue on with the series, don’t miss it. The Q&A section of the book has a reader asking if Kevin will be returning, and it reveals that he is “talking about coming back to write”. That’s all we know at this point. So, in short, we assume Kev will come back at SOME point, but not for a while.
  • There are two Kevin related items in the new issue of Fanzing, the independent DC comics magazine, focusing on Kev’s hopefully still upcoming Green Arrow stint. The first piece is an article titled “Where, Oh Where Has My Green Arrow Gone?” which focuses on the delays of the upcoming issues that are to be written by Kev. It summarizes what’s been holding up the book fairly well from what we can see. The second, a short comic script called “Being Jon Peters” features Kevin as a character.
  • The StarWars.Com website poll currently has readers choosing Matt Damon as their top choice for a new Luke if “Star Wars” we to be (gasp!) remade. Other contendors include Jonathon Taylor Thomas (double gasp!) and Ed Norton.
  • Dogma opened in Sweden on Thursday to mixed reviews. Some critics seem to know how to appreciate Kev’s writing style and what he gets out of his actors, and others seemed disappointed since they expected some sort Michael Bay style FX extravaganza, according to our scooper.

Thanks for stopping in today. We’ll see ya sometime early next week.

  • We wanted to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you for helping us reach yet another amazing milestone: 3 MILLION HITS. It’s an amazing number, really, to imagine that this page has been loaded and viewed 3 million times is quite a feat. And there’s no way we could have ever done it without all of the support and loyalty of the View Askew fans out there. We’re lucky to have such a great bunch like all of you as visitors to the site, as well as to have the chance to work on a site with material that’s so near and dear to us on a daily basis. It’s a lot of fun, and the fact that you’re allowing us to grow and continue on is a testament just to what a wonderful bunch of folks that View Askew fans really are.

Thanks to all of you who wrote in with congrats, and special congrats to JOEL CLYNE, who hit the magic number at 3:24 PM on Thursday, April 20th!

Now, to get started on that next million…

Commentary

  • We’re doing a Saturday update this weekend since we’ll be taking the Easter holiday off tomorrow. Caught “U-571” yesterday, and it’s a fun, mindless action flick. Gotta love those submarine movies. I kinda got a bit pensive though before the flick started. Seems that practically every movie is forcing us to watch a good 2 or 3 outright COMMERCIALS before the movie starts. So, I gotta wonder now, with all the raised ticket prices, why does the movie theater hafta make even MORE dough by selling advertising that we paid good money NOT to have to watch? I mean, with inflation and all, it would make sense if prices stayed the same and the ads showed up, but to raise ticket prices AND throw in commercials? Sounds like outright greed. Damn shame.

Moving on, we’ve got a couple newsbites today and a thanks to all of you for helping us reach 3 million hits. Also, the Dogma DVD streets in a couple of weeks yet we never did receive any preview copies from Columbia Tristar. If anyone’s listening, get in touch with us, we’d love a chance to check out the disc and throw up a review for the many who read this site before the disc hits the streets.
