Sunday Commentary

  • Hey folks, haven’t been around for one of these in a while. There really hasn’t been much to say. Weather is finally turning quite nice here in Central PA, a sure sign that summer’s getting ready to kick into full gear. Summer’s always a lot more fun than winter here. It’s amazing that the TV season’s starting so many NEW shows this summer, the Clerks cartoon being just the scratching of the surface. Growing up, new television totally STOPPED after May sweeps until next September, now it’s almost a whole new season. How things change. Gotta remember to go outside and get some air and exercise once in a while!

Not much else to say today, really. Today’s news revolves around some news from Kevin, a post from another surprise WWWBoarder, and a bit more Clerks TCS press. Let’s rock:

Clerks Animated Film Underway?

June 4th @ 1:21 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

We know that Kevin was discussing the possibility of this happening before the show premiered, and now it seems like it’s still something that’s being discussed. Check out this thread from the WWWBoard, where Kevin was trying to get in contact with Chris Bailey, who created the entire animation style of the cartoon and directed:

WEBBOARD POST: Maybe it is about the cartoon movie.

KEVIN’S REPLY: You win the lightning round.

So, it seems that Kevin is indeed talking with Chris about the movie. What this means at this point, we’ve got no idea. But a “Clerks: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut” could become a reality! Either way, the shows are definitely set to be a part of a nice DVD, complete with commentary, deleted stuff, and lots more. You can be sure it’ll see the Special Edition treatment like no other animated series ever has.

Jeff Anderson Hits The WWWBoard!

  • For the first time in its over 4 year history, Jeff Anderson, Randal himself, showed up on the View Askew WWWBoard to make a post! It was nice to see the guy take a minute to stop by in cyberspace. This message, posted with the alias “Randal Reeves”, read:
Randal Reeves… “Na-Hipp” Just read that below, made me chuckle.

I just wanted to drop by and congratulate everyone on the show. Although I saw pieces of the animation before, it was fun to watch an entire complete episode. It also showed me how little attention I was paying while we did these things because the sight gags were killing me. (i.e. Jay’s lawyer building the ship in a bottle; Jay’s JFK assassination) It’s all good stuff. Anyhoo, Kev, Dave,Scott, Bri, Daine, Jay, Chris, John, everyone at L.A. studios, and everyone else (I’m not forgetting you, I just suck with names) Great Job!

Jeff A.

P.S. Kev, if your relationship with ABC is over, can I go kick the mustached accountants ass now? Please!

Nice to see ya around, Jeff. Stop by anytime.

That’s Right, More C:TCS Press!

  • Kevin’s appearing on CNN Headline News this weekend at random times with bits of an interview he did regarding the Clerks cartoon. When asked his motivation for the cartoon, Kev answered ,”Money. I’ve got a kid whos gonna go to college someday”.
  • Gist ran another piece on Clerks, not really a review, but it does seem positive. Read it HERE.
  • Couple Clerks mentions in the latest Entertainment Weekly issue — In the portion about “What Movies Define Your Generation?” Clerks (the film) is mentioned under the 19-24 year olds and under the 25-30 year olds. Also, the cartoon getsan item in John Mullens “Hot Sheet”: Clerks – ABC’s prime-time cartoon about the life in a convenience store. There’s something about making change that always cracks people up. And just a final note today for all of Kevin’s fans in Australia: YOUR chance to see Kevin’s episode of “Law & Order” happens this MONDAY, at 8:30 PM, on Channel 10. There’s a snippet about the episode HERE though it doesn’t mention Kev’s appearance. Don’t miss it. Catch ya later!
