Vulgar Website, Press Release Info…

  • We’re not sure how long it’s been around, but now that the flick’s been sold, we want to make sure that you know this. The official View Askew site has put up a Vulgar site (including some nice photos, details about the film, cast & crew etc.) There’s no official link at the View Askew homepage yet, but you can get to it directly using this URL: http://www.viewaskew.com/vulgar/.

We’ve also been sent a copy of the official Lions Gate press release announcing their purchase of the flick for distribution. It’s in Microsoft Word format, which most of you should have no problem reading or converting. Click HERE to get a copy.

  • Jason Lee’s fictional band Stillwater from “Almost Famous” is up for best Fake Band in their online poll. Stillwater is running against the likes of Spinal Tap and 2Gether and is not faring well. (It had 0% of the votes.) We’re sure it’ll take off once more folks see the flick, though. Surf HERE to cast your vote.
  • On today’s final Jeopardy, the answer was “On May 16, 2000 the 2 writers of this 1998 movie joined a rally to get the janitors at Harvard a raise.” All of the contestants got it right. We assume you would have, too.

AFFLECK, LEE EYE SMITH’S NEW COMEDY

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) – Ben Affleck and Jason Lee are in discussions to reunite with Kevin Smith for his next project, an untitled comedy that Smith’s View Askew production company will produce for Dimension Films.

Currently going under the moniker of “View Askew 5” (it’s Smith’s fifth production), the picture is expected to be the last of Smith’s New Jersey cycle that features Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith). Shooting is expected to begin in January.

The film is also expected to feature Brian O’Halloran and JeffAnderson, actors best known for their roles as the leads in Smith’s 1994 feature debut “Clerks.”

Affleck and Lee first worked with Smith in “Mallrats” and teamedagain as the leads in Smith’s “Chasing Amy.” Affleck also starred in Smith’s most recent helming effort, “Dogma,” with Lee taking a supporting role in that picture.

Affleck stars in the upcoming “Bounce” opposite Gwyneth Paltrow. Leeis now in theaters with Cameron Crowe’s “Almost Famous.” He is currently shooting Barry Sonnenfeld’s “Big Trouble.”

By the way, Dark Horizons is also running a piece on the flick today with similar info on Lee and Affleck, and also mentions that Joey Lauren Adams has a role written in, though Kevin’s unsure whether she’ll take it or not.
