• This was by far the most popular submission for this update, so it must deserve a headline. George Carlin received a much-deserved Lifetime Achievement award on last night’s American Comedy Awards telecast, when several movie stills were flashed up. One of them was the first public photo of his Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back character, that of a hitchhiker. In the shot, he looks very hobo-like as he’s hitching, holding a sign which reads “Free Love For Ride”. You’ll hafta wait for the film to understand the significance of that, though, that’s all we can say there! A photo of Carlin in Dogma was also shown.

The show re-airs this weekend on Comedy Central. If anyone taped the show and is able to do a screen grab of this shot, please send it in!

• Mike Avon Oeming, the artist doing the upcoming Bluntman & Chronic books, will be at the Pittsburgh Con this weekend. We’ll be there as well, since it’s in our neck of the woods, and will try and meet up with Mike for some site coverage. Here’s what Mike had to say:

• Finally today, comic artist Adam Warren’s site has a comic frame that references Mallrats. Check it out above.

• On page 72 of the new Wizard (due out tomorrow) there’s a blurb about Paul Dini & Bob Schreck’s cameo in J&SBSB. ALSO, look for Kevin mentions in ‘Net Gains (pg 112, there’s an article on how Green Arrow sold out before it even went on sale in the stores) and in The Ticker (where it counts down certain numbers of stuff each month…this week, on pg 114, it mentions two Kev things: 54-total number of filming days on “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back,” Kevin Smith’s new movie, and 2-Number of days BEFORE Kevin Smith’s Green Arrow #1 hit stores that DC Comics went back for a second printing)…not to mention the fact that on pg 118, Kev’s Green arrow #1 is the #1 Comic in their Hot 10 Comics list as well as #1 Writer in their Top 10 creators list three pages over…then, in an ad for Wizard World 2001, there’s a full page ad about Kevin being there, saying:

The original shot is the first one above on your left, as it was shot by DP Jamie Anderson. It’s amazing how much that the press can mess with an existing photo to make a new composition. Notice this photo contains a totally different shot of Ali, as well as the addition of Jen & Eliza. The other two shots above are new and from Scott Mosier. • Hey folks, it’s been a while since there was a commentary post so it seemed like a good time for one. Don’t miss the new poll topic, which should garner some very interesting results. With the news that both Jay & Bob and American Pie 2 are sharing a release date sticking around, it’s going to be interesting to see what transpires. It stills seems like one of those films is going to have to move, the question is, who, and to which new date? Other than that, it’s finally feeling like spring outside, thus the chance to actually get away from the PC, spend some time outside and, on days like today, mow the friggin grass.
