• News from the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival: “J&SBSB” is playing in a bunch of theaters this week. It’s the first time the film is being screened in that area, and may even be the last. All the screenings have sold out sofar, a very good sign.

• AOL entertainment has posted their top ten fashion flops of thsi year, and Jason Mewes is coming in at number 10 from his pimp gear coat from the premiere:

• In the current issue of Playboy (November), Will Ferrell is interviewed for 20 Questions. There are no Jay and Bob references, just a mention. Also in that issue, there’s an article about the history of Oral Sex. At the very end, rounding off the attitudes of our current generation Kevin gets a mention for Clerks and the Danta/Veronica discussion of her not defining oral sex as sex – It’s transcribed to close the article out.

• As promised, we’ve compiled a list of all of Kevin’s upcoming Q&A sessions at colleges, so far. There will definitely be more additions to this list, and, as we can confirm them, we’ll be making additions. Look for a new page to be setup soon with all the details on these, including how you can get tickets, times, locations, prices, and everything else. Here’s what we’ve been able to confirm so far:

There are also currently several more offers currently being worked on, so this list is far from complete. At this point, we’re not sure which ones are open to the public or just offered for the individual college’s students. Stay tuned for more information on these right here at News Askew. • Here’s the full text of that “While You Were Sleeping” magazine cover we posted a while back…It’s basically Maxim on crack (for example, they try to convince the reader in one story that Haley Joel Osment is really 23 years old but suffers from Schultz’ Disorder). Speaking of weird, this article really gets up close and personal with Kev, perhaps a little too close and personal, but the Slim Fast stuff is classic and it’s also got a nice shot of Kev directing the Mallrats elevator scene, so there’s some good stuff. • An update on Wizard‘s latest Askew sale item: There were only 1000 covers made of that Wizard issue that appears in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. You can surf over to their site to reserve yours and get more details.
• Jason Mewes is one of the choices in a Film Threat poll about comedic actors doing drama.

• As a part of his Fall/Winter series of college Q&A appearances, Kevin will show up LIVE at Kent State University in Ohio on November 8th for one of his famous, can’t-miss sessions. Ticket info has not been released yet. This will likely be one of the shows filmed for the new DVD, so if you’re in the area, catch it. We’ll be working on compiling a full list of these appearances and all the information to allow as many of you to make it to the shows as possible. Watch for more news on that soon.

• This week’s wizardworld.com poll asks who should take over for Kevin on Green Arrow once his writing duties are done. Surf over to cast your vote.
• Ben Affleck wrote an article appearing in the current issue of Conde Nast Traveler regarding a coastal trip he took in a Ferrari 360 Spider. Here’s the info…If anyone’s got a transcription, send away:

• They’re not the best quality scans, but these shots were taken by a fan at the Mall of America. A local radio station up there is promoting J&SBSB and features some drawings of the duo on their windows.

• Finally today…Was Hooper right after all? Check out this scan from this month’s Maxim. Later, folks.

• Yesterday’s IMDB poll yet again had a View Askew reference (must be a lot of fans over there). This one asked “Which movie had the best fortune-teller scene?” Mallrats won the poll handily with 32.8%.
• Hot off his J&SBSB appearance, Jason Biggs is to join Kathleen Turner and Alicia Silverstone in the Broadway production of The Graduate. Biggs will play Benjamin Braddock, Dustin Hoffman’s role in the film version. Turner will play Mrs. Robinson, and Silverstone will play her daughter. Turner recently played the same role in London’s West End. The show is expected to open in April, reports www.hollywoodreporter.com.
• Some small references to her previous acting role in Dogma appear in this new article on Alanis’s new album and her role as producer.

• Here’s a project from a fan’s graphic design class…A fictional menu for a View Askew diner. It’s a creative little design, all typos aside. Check out the scans. A lot of the ideas came from other fans on the message boards and talkbacks here at the site.

• Finally today, some scans. In the latest issue of EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) they ran a review for the new Capcom game Devil May Cry. In this game, the main character’s name is Dante so in a side bar of the review, they ran a history of the name “Dante”. They indeed mention Dante Hicks from Clerks. Click the scan for a look.

• Kevin stopped by the WWWBoard quickly just before leaving California with some really big news including : a video release date for J&SBSB, Vulgarthon 2002, and the new flick. Check it out!

• Green Arrow #8 (”Quiver Chapter Eight: When Ollie Met Ollie…”) reviews are starting to show up, and The 4th Rail’s got a couple of them. Sounds like #8’s got some BIG surprises in store, and is a key book in the saga. The first review gives the book a 6/10, the second, an 8/10.
• A November 30th J&SBSB release date has been confirmed for Ireland (same as the UK date). You can find a page on the flick and details HERE.
• Jay and Silent Bob dipped 40% to $870,347, ranking #16 for the weekend. The 31-day total stands at $29,235,953.The charts are located HERE and HERE.

• It’s not often we’ll plug an ebay auction, but this one’s damn funny – Someone has turned Homer and Lenny of The Simpsons into Jay & Silent Bob, by making some loving changes to the action figures. Check these guys out HERE.
• Following on from their screening of Clerks, the New Zealand television network TV4 will be screening Mallrats on Monday, October 1st. The J&SBSB trailer is now screening on some New Zealand big screens in front of Tomb Raider.

• Viewaskew.com posted up the complete list of Kevin’s “Thank You” section from the Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back credits. Check ‘em out right here, they’re always amusing and interesting (and we missed a lot of these even after a few credit viewings):

• Check out this cool fan creation, folks…The Brodie Action Figure! Alas, this is the only one in existence, or we’d be lining up to buy ‘em. Brodie was created from WWF wrestling action figure parts, a lot of sand paper, clay, paint, and hard work. A very cool job indeed.
• The new episode of Brian Lynch’s “Angry Naked Pat” cartoon is now up at www.campchaos.com. Check it out.
• Clerks gets a small mention in this weekend’s “Movie Answer Man” column from a reader who questioned Roger Ebert:

• Askew vets Salma Hayek and Chris Rock were spotted answering phones and taking part in Friday’s historical telethon to benefit victims of the attacks.
• In Dallas, the Studio Movie Grill has started running a program called “Movies that go Better with Beer”, which is their midnight showing of some movies that have been out of theaters for a while. The first movie they did last weekend was Chasing Amy and this weekend is Clerks. Beforehand, they do Kevin trivia and give out free tickets and the like for correct answers. We hear crowds have been great, so it’s something definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.
• “Because I Got High” by Afroman is now the 3rd most requested video on the “Dag Top 5” on TMF in Holland. TMF (The Music Factory) is the Dutch equivalent of MTV. The “Dag Top 5” (daily top 5) runs Monday to Thursday – Folks can vote their top 5 favorite videos on. Note: We’ll probably stop covering Afroman stuff from now on, unless it relates directly back to the flick.
